Yep. Every welterweight who gets 1 good win is instantly a superstar because they're touted as "the answer to Floyd" (previously to Manny as well).
When you actually run through the list... It's a bunch of guys who have 1 good win each then wait around milking it hoping Floyd calls them. Really shallow division right now.
Yeah pretty much! All of these guys haven't done anything to deserve a Mayweather fight. They have like one decent win. I believe Floyd and Manny benefited from fighting in a weak Welterweight era (last decade or so). Don't get me wrong Floyd would have done great in any era and Manny would have held his own. I'm a critic of boxing from the past (as I feel it gets overrated), but yeah this Welterweight era was weak (in MY opinion).
Fighters in this weight class gets overrated, because it get a lot of TV coverage. So people perceive it as a great weight class. Then they say other weight classes are wack, I love Keith Thurman but he needs more work and experience.
He was better than getting nearly knocked out by a guy who can't punch and hasn't fought in more than a year. Guerrero has faded badly. It's just a question of when it happened.
Ya getting dropped today is a shocker. He's always been a solid fighter but has definitely faded lately.
He was a good, strong, young lion when TBE faced him doe. You just hatin bruh, you'd be ridin hard for yah Boi if he were rican doe :afro:
Lol no, apparently I'm not rican enough because I don't approve of Cotto's every action according to some cunt named fantasiabruja lol
Well it was an appropriate comment. People rate ghost because he fought Floyd but, he was never anything special.

Five posts in a thread about Thurman and Guerrero and Mayweather gets mentioned. That's NSB, folks.

I think most of these guys are not as good as people think. The mid 2000s WW's were a lot better. I would pick Cotto, Mosley, Williams, Margarito, Clottey, even Cintron over most of these guys.
Guerrero was never that good man. He's never even beaten a b level fighter. Lost to Salido, quit against Yordan. He beat an ancient Casa and Katsidis.
And berto, who has proven to be pretty average. This is what kills me about today's fans. A guy beats some mediocre "champion" and somehow is the greatest thing ever. Ww is very overrated.

When it comes to Guerrero, there was one fight where it all changed, and it was against this guy
Grueling fight, both guys took a load of punishment.
He also doesn't belong at that weight, he's there for the money
I don't know if Thurman sapped whatever was left in Guerrero, or if he was done before that, but he was horrible in this fight. That KD was scary, he slumped to the canvas like he was unconscious.
I'd say thurman did sap the last out of him. Guerrero always had a pretty good chin until now. I think thurman cracked it!

The Welterweight division is an overrated division, it's perceived to be great because it's mainstream (the most popular division) and the two biggest boxing stars reside in them. People hate to hear it, but it's the truth. Mayweather is in a league of his own currently (even at this age), because these young up and comers are still inexperienced and imo are not as good as people want to believe (and of course because he's a great boxer). Robert Guerrero was never that great of a fighter, even at Featherweight and Super Featherweight guys gave him tough fights. Guerrero is a top 10 fighter at 147 now, that's says a lot. We do have to take into account the beating Thurman gave him but even before Thurman, Guerrero basically went life and death against Kamegai.
Obviously people will disagree with me, but it's cool at the end of the day this is my opinion (so don't get too butthurt). Boxing is subjective, I always say.
