I would go with Wilder right now. Wilder has defeated one top 10 heavyweight and all his other opponents were rated #30 or less. Joshua has yet to defeat a guy rated higher than #30 in the world heavyweight rankings. When and if Joshua beats a top 10 heavyweight I might change my mind. At this time Wilder is the more proven of these two unproven heavyweights.
Long way to go before this one happens if it ever happens. Both will have to live up fully to their potential and beat some damn good fighters to get to this fight. Tyson Fury win or lose vs Wlad still plays a MAJOR FACTOR going into the future of Heavyweight Boxing. Fury is younger than Wilder and is only 1 year older than Joshua so Fury is going to be around for awhile and right now I would favor him over both.
But no question that could be a mega fight in the future if both keep winning!
What makes you think Wilder is the harder puncher? He's never KO'd a decently ranked fighter in his entire career.
He's leaving people twitching on the floor by one punch.
He's a damn hard puncher. Joshua is a hard puncher too - just not as hard as Wilder I think.
I could be wrong.
Dream match-up.
Joshua is better technically and is more vicious, but Wilder has the harder punch and is more seasoned.
Toss up.

Take away Stiverne and their resumes are mostly similar. Which is a bit sad considering Wilder has more than twice the number of fights and three times the length as a pro. Right now it's impossible to say who'd win. Joshua looks a phenomenal prospect and possesses enormous self confidence, but Wilder has been taken the distance by a big puncher and pulled out the win (plus he has buckets of self confidence himself). Nonetheless, both guys are still kind of an enigma, Wilder due to his lack of quality opponents to measure him against and Joshua due to his newness to the game. Give it a year or so, however, and I fully expect Joshua to blow him away. His progress has been astonishing.
I'd favor Wilder now, Joshua in a year or two. Deontay has the edge in speed and agility. Power looks close. Joshua will probably rough him up in the clinches. If Anthony fights 2 or 3 Thompson/Jennings/Takam type opponents next, this fight should happen next year. Assuming that Wilder gets by Povetkin and maybe Fury.
