No, but he is way up there in the ATG rankings...
He may not be up there with Ray leonard, ali, Armstrong, ezzard, robinson.. But he is clearly ahead of guys like hagler, roy, chavez, pernell, pep, hearns, monzon, hopkins, benny, Ross, etc
Top 20-30 I'd say. One of the best of this era.
I respectfully disagree with people having Floyd so low on the list. To me Floyd is a top 5 atg defensive fighter. How can somebody being a top 5 atg defensive or offensive fighter, dominate boxing for 20 years in 5 different weight classes, be so low on the list.
If Floyd had dominated for 20 years in 5 different weight classes but was a top 5 offensive fighter instead of defensive he would be top 10 atg in everybodys book.
Defense is always neglected against offense in ALL sport. People will say Gretzky is the best hockey player ever, but imo it's Bobby Orr without a doubt. People always talk about Pelé, Maradona and Messi, but the greatest defender of all time "Beckenbauer" will always fall behing them in rankings, which I found unjustified.
He's not even the best of right now so how can he be the greatest of all time.
Floyd is 50% hype and 50% skills. You know when a fighter isn't as good As they say they are when people constantly try to make his accomplishments bigger than they are.
He's beaten 17 world champions? Ok you and I both know that's bull and his maybe beaten 6 legit champs and about 11 titlist.
And when Floyd beats mediocre comp his fans come on here trying to hype them up as something they aren't.
Remember Maidana, the face first caveman but when he beat Floyd ( he should gotten the decision) he all of a sudden was some master technician that set up deadly traps. But in reality he was the same limited fighter that fought Alexander and Floyd was murked by him.
Couldn't agree more with this assessment !!
When people talk about him being champ for 19 yrs I want to throw up ..Lets not forget his two year hiatus when the WW divsion was hot and then he comes back to go on a cherry PICKERS delight but this is the best ever ? Not by a long shot !!!
Like some other said you can't compare eras so to me there is no "best ever".
You can compare fighters within the same era, and to me Floyd is the greatest fighter of the last 25 years. His legacy will definately grow after he retires since defensive fighter get appreciated with a lag compare to an offensive fighter like pacquiao or GGG.
Floyd is the best fighter from 1985 to 2015 imo. He's in the top 3 atg defensive fighter (with Pep and Whitaker), has the best record in championship fight, insane longetivity, I hink in the future he will be recognized as a top 5 to 10 atg fighter.
Personnaly, SRR and Ali are without a doubt in front of Floyd, but I would be ready to accept anybody who says Floyd is greater than other fighters than these two guys.
He is only the best of his era ..As far as greatness is concerned with Floyd he def is one of the best defensive fighters of all time .. But to call him the greatest ever is a bit of an exaggeration considering his body of work !
The most complete and cerebral fighter of all time. I didn't get too witness some of the other all time greatest, but he is definitely better than any fighter across the last 3 decades. When its all over many will be discussing and analyzing his greatness.
That would be impossible to prove or disprove so it's just a matter of personal opinion. If you think he is the greatest then to you he is the greatest. I think he is an all time great fighter but not the greatest.
He's not even the best of right now so how can he be the greatest of all time.

Floyd is 50% Hype? Really? You can nitpick at anyone and anything in history. The fact remains he is 48-0 over a 19 year career, while being a champ for 15-16 years. He's never been on his @ss and has never been dominated. Who else can say that?
He's not even the best of right now so how can he be the greatest of all time.

He's the best I have ever seen. I've been watching boxing since 1986. He's a natural talent but what impresses my most is his in ring adjustments. Most fighters when they're physical talents are not enough don't know what to do. This guy is something special.
I can't call him the greatest because I didn't see the greats of yesteryear. Im not talking highlights or a few fights but I can't commment on what I really don't know.
But one thing I feel, Floyd would be tough for anyone to defeat.
A class below??? Floyd won a bunch of toss up rounds based on reputation.
Judges: "Eh, nothings happening, and the rounds close, Floyd round..."
Floyd won a round in which PAC landed 3 nice hooks to the head, and Floyd landed like 4 body jabs lmao!!!
48-0. UD Mayweather deal with it. Maybe you guys can make more loser parades for Pac for the rest of us to laugh at :lol1:
The way you floyd fans talk about him he is a god of boxing. No one will ever beat him since he's undefeated. He is GOAT, no?
True boxing fans know Castillo and Madaina beat him , they know how he fights all hall of famers and the end of their careers. To bad there's no welter weight trained by Kevin Rooney who has the peek a boo style who slips punches with knock out power like Iron Mike once did this style with KO power would be a nightmare for Floyd. Lucky he's fighting in this ERA and not the 80's so timing has been good to Floyd
Comparisons across eras are ultimately pointless but obviously fun. Floyd is the best in his era - dominant - and that is all a man can be.
Comparisons of eras never stopped anyone from making top 10 lists before. What I do know though is that if you are going to talk best of his era, Floyd is the best of this era by a long ways, perhaps more clearly the best if his era as any other fighter has ever been. And his era is longer than most others too as he has beaten guys like Oscar and SSM who ruled boxing just before he came into prominence, he's beaten all of his peers, and he's beaten some young guys who could rule boxing for the next 10 years. So he's certainly got an argument.
Time will tell, maybe top 5. But he'll retire undefeated with the best record in title fights if all time. He's been fighting elite competition for 30 fights now, that's insane. Floyd has a minimum if 10 HOF fighters on his resume.
To get to 48-0 is impressive, but this guy was 17-0 when he fought his first world champion. Since his 17th fight he hasn't fought any of the total bums you see littering the fight cards of almost all other fighters. He's been fighting top 10 fighters in their weight clas exclusively for 17 years, who else can say that? Cotto at 154, Canelo, Oscar at 154, Madaina, etc etc. he's tested himself over and over. He's fought undefeated fighters, he's fought much bigger fighters, he's 26-0 in title fights. You can't ask for much more.
Mayweather's legacy will grow after he retires. Everyone has him top 25 now, many have him top 10, in 10 years everyone will realize he's top 10 without a doubt to everyone and top 5 to many.
Best ever? Time will tell, but he's certainly accomplished some things no on else has. I'd say he'll be in the discussion, but will fall just behind SRR and Henry Armstrong in a group with Pepp and SRL.
