Now from the title your probably either agreeing or wanting to uppercut me through the screen. Personally I like GGG, golov shows an explosive stalker style were he stalks his opposition and starts landing bombs. He brings knockouts, he brings excitement, he brings back manys love for boxing. I do think it's time he moved up as 160 is not exactly filled with talent especially talent wanting to fight golovkin, but is he really that good behind the knockdowns? his resume for a p4p fav is just lacking in many departments, I know the fact many duck GGG plays a factor but are you trying to tell me out of all the middleweight and even super if he wanted to move up there's not a world class fighter wanting to fight him? I really hope he does big things and makes a packet and destroys many stars but what do you think? You think the hype trains heading for a derailment or..?? Froch vs Golov would be f ckn mouth watering btw
Beat it off my thread please the only troll is you, and what makes it funnier if i was the troll its pretty sad i have a better knowledge on boxing than you.
Shut uppa you face, fool.
GGG is 33 years old.
His glory days are already gone.
Cotto doesn't need him....he can fight Canelo and retire.
Golovkin is already starting to slip.
I'm just not impressed by GGG
If he were 23 instead of 33....I'd be impressed.
You are right about one thing - Cotto needs GGG like a hole in the head, Canelo too. As things stand right now, at 160, I seriously believe that Golovkin could beat them both, one after the other, on the same night. That's how good he is at MW, his natural division.
As for his age, he's just turned 33, which would have been over the hill in previous eras, but not nowadays. Like Froch and BHop, GGG looks after himself and lives a clean, healthy life, even when he isn't training for a fight.
BHop is a one-off, but GGG wouldn't need to carry on fighting till he's 50 to achieve his ambitions. 37/38, the same as Froch, would be plenty long enough, and I don't see any reason why he couldn't do that.
He's beaten plenty of top ten guys. Knocked out guys who had never been KOd before. Just because they're not names you recognize doesn't mean they aren't any good.
More to that he's peers recognize the talent he has. If he was bum status or hype, then guys would be lining up to take his crown. However that doesn't see to be happening.
good post.
I'm just not impressed by GGG
If he were 23 instead of 33....I'd be impressed.
So then who impressed you?
I mean they all can't be Floyd.
I don't know where to begin...lol
whatever point you were trying to make is null and void. you don't even know what you are watching when it comes to boxing. Or, have you boxed professionally? You've done so well as a prizefighter that these jabronies don't pass your eye test? Pfft
GGG isn't over-hyped, but over-discussed. He appears to pass the eye test looking at nearly all of his televised professional fights. One thing I notice is that on this board when discussing GGG, no one comments on his stylistic change when he started training with Abel. Golovkin used to be a counter-puncher with solid defensive skills.
Yeah, I thought he was going to be a troll when he started this thread by saying how much he liked GGG. That seems to be something they all do. Three comments in and I was sure of it. Just been having a bit of fun with him since then.
Beat it off my thread please the only troll is you, and what makes it funnier if i was the troll its pretty sad i have a better knowledge on boxing than you.
Just because I think he's way over hyped, does not mean I am not a fan. GGG is an exciting fighter who has great and accurate power. His fights are going to be exciting and I want to see him in with some top competition soon.
While I think Canelo, Cotto, Froch, and Ward are all better boxers than GGG, he definitely is going to make any of those fights exciting and he has a chance to win each (maybe no chance against Ward).
This is what is tough about trying to be an objective fan though, most of the critics in this thread probably like GGG, but we're going to find our self sounding like we don't just to try to off set the people who are way over blowing his achievements in the ring so far. The guy simply doesn't have a top 10 P4P resume yet, he's overrated and it's a huge hype machine.\
But why wouldn't HBO and other boxing players hype him? He's a marketable fighter and exaggerating him can only make everyone involved more money. Maybe he is a killer, but he just hasn't been in with enough good competition to prove it to me. So I have to go by the eye test (which is an educated guess at best). GGG is slow of foot with very little head movement. But GGG has excellent form and is a very accurate and hard puncher who throws combinations well. He doesn't have a lot of defense, but he hasn't needed it yet. I think any boxer who can move decently will give him trouble, as well as any boxer with real KO power and fast hands. Cotto moves very well and has the power to stop GGG, but that is a very close fight IMO. Canelo has better hands than GGG, but will also get hit a lot, that could be a classic, but I'm not sure GGG can take the shots Canelo will land. Froch is also a good match up. Ward will destroy GGG.
I think if GGG steps up and fights some top guys in his next 5 or 6 fights he will lose a couple fights. Maybe he'll prove me wrong though.
Could not have said it any better, due to some people being clueless and annoying its made me sound like i hate Golovkin or dislike him when really i like his abilities just think there blown well out of proportion
Dead according to anybody that isn't trolling.
An elite fighter wouldn't be getting hit that much by such weak comp...let alone get tired against them.
Angulo blasted Rosado in 2 rounds and didn't get touched.
GGG needed 7 rounds and endswell between rounds.
So we're basing his skill on the fact it took him 5 more rounds to beat one fighter while another did it in less time?
Common man this is what idiots use to say about Pac and Mayweather. " oh pac KOd Ricky in 2 while Floyd did it in 10". It's a garbage example.
Furthermore despite what the trolls here believe Angulo is actually a tough brawler. He's not all time great. Not elite. Not a hall of famer but a good fighter who before he went to jail and was KOd by Kirkland had real potential to be greater than he was.
He gave the great Lara a tough fight.
Translation: "By the way, the reason GGG has not moved up yet, is he wants to attain MW glory by fighting an ex Jr. Welterweight..."
Badass... :boxing:
GGG doesn't need Cotto to attain glory. All he wants are the WBC and lineal MW titles that Cotto is sitting on and refusing to defend against bone fide MWs.
If little Miguel relinquishes those titles, surrenders and comes out with his hands in the air like a good boy, GGG will allow him to leave unharmed.
The guy is an alt and is just interested in trolling. Almost all of his posts are in this thread with a couple typical troll posts about how great Floyd and Ward are. Typical limited knowledge individual who DKSAB. And he has found a place on my ignore list with the rest of the ignorant dicks.
:nutkick:

Top 10 guys in a dead division doesn't mean shi.t
Dead According to who? You?
You could only fight the guy in front of you. That's all. You can't go back in time to fight Hagler or Hopkins.
Facts are he's beating everyone put in front of him. And not just beating them, He's crushing them.
Again he may very well turn out not to be an elite fighter, but to say he's a bum or just hype is ignorant. Or to wait around until he loses just to say, "see I told you he wasn't that good" is troll mentality.
You shouldnt want to see GGG vs Cotto yourself.
You SHOULD be tired of watching Golovkin fight guys HE KNOWS can't beat him.
Cotto doesn't even need ggg.:boxing:
He can fight Canelo and retire.
i agree, but cotto has the belt, so i don't see anything wrong in GGG calling him out. it was cotto who moved up. i have said before that if cotto moves down to 154 lbs nobody would say anything about it because he isn't a true MW

Abraham was ducking GGG way back when they were both fighting in Germany.
By the way... the reason Golovkin has not moved up is because he still has three titles to win at MW and a Cotto or Canelo fight would be worth more money than ANY fight at SMW. Damn... a fight against Lee or Lemieux would be worth more than a Ward fight. So would just about any fight at MW against any opponent.
Who is there to fight at SMW? Chavez Jr.? Not any more. The Dirrells? Nope, they're done for too. Ward? He's not ready and can't even make weight. Who's left? Froch? The guy can't make up his mind whether to fight GGG or retire. Not much left is there? well froch yes till he retires, ward, degale are all step ups from his current weak opponents, yeah like the canelo fights gonna happen before GGG is like 38 and cotto isnt exactly looking as if its in a rush to get made does it

Just like Matthysse and the overnight fanboys...GGG too, will learn to lose.
There can be no other outcome.
Book it.
he might lose, but it won't be cotto the one to beat him, he doesn't even want to be there with him and if he gets in the ring with GGG he will be eaten alive by the naturally bigger man.
