1.- Román "Chocolatito" González.
2.- Guillermo Rigondeaux.
3.- Miguel Cotto.
4.- Saul "Canelo" Álvarez.
5.- Lucas Matthysse.
6.- Juan Fco. "Gallo" Estrada.
7.- Erislandy Lara.
8.- Danny García.
9.- Leo "Terremoto" Santacruz.

If you want to be technical anyone who speaks a Latin-based language is "Latino".
And since Latin languages originate in Europe it doesn't make sense for someone with native Ecuadorian ancestry to be "more Latino" than someone with African ancestry. Both are just people who were born into a linguistic region, so Lara is Latino.
I know in America "Latino" is a racial classification but it's one that just doesn't make any sense. Actual Latin ancestry would mean Italian/Spanish.
ah ok fair enough. I heard some people in eastern europe are also latin cos of their ancestral roots and language similarities. its pretty interesting stuff.
Rigodeaux should be number 1, no question.
1) Rigondeaux
2) JMM
3) Estrada
4) Cotto
5) Gonzalez
6) Chino
7) Nelo
8) Lara
9) Garcia Swift
10)Mikey Garcia
Whoever have Gonzalaz above Cotto, Rigo, Estrada and JMM need to get a noose and some pain killers.
I think Verdejo is a better fighter than LSC, so I would put him at 10th and take LSC out.
Kid's a prospect still. If anything take out LSC and insert proven champs like Cuadras/Guevara.
Shouldn't Lara and Rigo be classified as black? Yes they come from a largely populated latino country but they are of African origins. I'm just curious how this classification via ethnicity works.
I think it is safe to say they identify as Latino or Latin American, which are not really ethnic categories. Go tell Rigo he's not Latino and you'll see. In some Latin American countries "black" doesn't exist. It's a bit different than in the U.S. where "black" "white" triumphs all.
Anyway, Estrada should be top 4, LSC doesn't belong in there.
Shouldn't Lara and Rigo be classified as black?
Lara and Rigo both speak Spanish. "Latino" doesn't mean ethnicity. If that were the case Canelo would also have to be removed from OP's list.

No disrespect to Danny Garcia -- I really like him as a boxer -- but I think Marcos Maidana is above him on the list. They're all good fighters nonetheless.

- Estrada and Canelo should be higher than Cotto.
- Mares instead of Santa Cruz thanks to his vastly superior resume.
- Danny Garcia is the only American on that list.

Not eligible? Lol. Neither is retired. Anyway we all know JMM is #1 in terms of Latino boxers.
Abner Mares should be in there. The guy has taken on a lot of top competition. I think he easily beats Leo.
