I got Mayweather and here's why: If Leonard could outbox and frustrate Duran to the point that he quit, I think Floyd can do it too, Floyd's foot work, defense, feinting and counter punching are better than Leonard's. Leonard has the edge in speed, power and combination punching especially at 147, which he tried to use in the first fight and it didn't work, and he wasn't able to make adjusments, Floyd is the king of adjustments, so I wouldn't count him out against anybody, but Duran has the perfect style to beat Floyd, It's just that he wasn't mentally strong and patient enough to deal with someone like Floyd Mayweather.
What do you guys think?!
Some of the comments in this thread are hilarious.
The best of Duran beats the best of Mayweather because Duran was all round the better and greater fighter.
Simple.
The only chance Floyd has is if he fought a fat out of shape Duran.
Again, Floyd was 37 when he fought Maidana and Maidana imo is physically stronger, stronger puncher but of course way less skilled than Duran, but the reason why he could push Floyd on to the ropes was because of size, weight and physical strength advantage.
He's prolly 237lbs by now! Did you see him in the video with Broner? LOLLL!!
Though I think Floyd's style is a frustrating fight for Duran, it wouldn't surprise me to see it go either way. Leonard and Hearns would be too much for Floyd, being that they were just as fast and talented, but far more powerful and aggressive. Floyd hasn't fought anyone in their class. Nothing against Duran, but I see Floyd's passive/evasive style presenting problems for the way Duran fought.
Lmao I followed Floyd since the am's
Enlighten who did he use that blinding speed against that wasn't a journeymen or a fighter past THIER prime? Please since you watch so much boxing educate me ?
What the hell are you smoking lol
To say Floyd isnt fast is ludicrous
He is extremely fast, perhaps not in combinations since he never throws them but hes the fastest counterpuncher in the sport. Hes also very elusive and very hard to hit, that takes speed of foot and upperbody movement.
Everyone has trouble with Floyds speed, timing and defence.
Speed isnt just about throwing flashy combinations like khan, its about upperbody movement, footspeed and counterpunching
Guy can pull the trigger faster than anyone in the sport.
Futhermore you talk about Floyd having trouble against Maidana and Cotto when Duran lost to Kirland Laing FFS lol
Duran lost to fighters far inferior to Mayweather
Your actually trying to question floyd mayweathers speed? Really?.. REALLY!! Go watch some boxing please

He was known to be near 200lbs coming into training camp.

:lol1::lol1:
Fight in the most conservative manner possible and still dropping four rounds to a poor man's Julio Cesar Chavez?
Calling Maidana a two division champion shows how little you know about boxing. He was a regular titleist at 140 & won a belt at 147 because the WBA decided to upgrade a bum by the name of Senchenko to full champion status.
Castillo was actually a very good fighter in his prime and a legitimate champion and deserves better than to be compared with Maidana.

Excuses, styles make fights, he did what he had to do to beat him convincingly, Leonard was way more conservative against Duran and he got credit for his win.
Maidana was the WBA champion at 147, it's not his fault that the guy that was before the guy that was before the guy who beat for the title wasn't a good fighter, and he beat the champion in Broner in a very good fashion, Broner was a 5 to 1 favorite to easily beat Maidana, and Maidana showed why he belongs to the very best at 147, Maidana is a good fighter, Pacquiao, who is considered to be the 2nd best fighter of the era couldn't do what Maidana did against Floyd, Maidana is a good fighter with an awkward style and when he's focused he's dangerous.
Mayweather was also injured in the first Castillo fight and he showed what he could really do in the rematch.

Calling Maidana and Castillo, 2 division/time world champions, C level fighters shows how much you know about boxing: NOTHING!

Hands of Stone is a boss, and a better boxer than he's being given credit for in this thread but does he really hit that much harder than Mosley?
^^^^^^^
This is the same newb that thinks Mayweather would pick off Hearns at range. :lol1:
Floyd's speed lmao who has he displayed that killer speed against ?
Gatti ? A shot Shamba Mitchell ? This is hilarious !! Floyd has never fought a fighter in their prime that was as seasoned as Duran, ever !!
This is the same Floyd who had troubles with !Maidana ,Cotto and Castillo yet none of them are even close to Duran's level !! Floyd's speed lmao this ain't Ricky Hatton now ..
Your actually trying to question floyd mayweathers speed? Really?.. REALLY!! Go watch some boxing please
lol duran lost to kirkland laing, Wilfredo Benetiz and outboxed by SRL. Floyd would outbox him too.
Floyd would potshot, hold and potshot again and be always out of distance.........Duran wouldnt be able to handle Floyds handspeed from the outside.
UD for Floyd

gotta dig up legends for Floyd to take a "L"....I think it's satisfying to some for Floyd to lose anyway possible...even mythical fights....the Floyd hate is getting pathetic!!...quite sad that the best boxer most of us have ever seen have people praying for his downfall...in or outta the ring....I can see SOG or Craw Dog getting the same treatment in a few years from now
The best boxer most of us have seen lmao you need to watch more boxing there are a ton of better boxers than Floyd Duran being one of them.
PBF dances around him all night and gets some slick punches in and weaves back out just like the other 48 guys, personally leonard is the only one i feel could beat him
Why are floyd fans saying people are digging up retired fighters to beat their hero?
It was the TS who is a floyd fanboy trying to say that floyd would beat duran in his prime.
Well we can only speculate about Floyd beating a ATG in his prime because that is as close as he will get to actually doing it.
This is just good fun to speculate! Floyd makes it easy to hate Floyd. It is normal for people to set up historical sports teams and players. Lebron vs Jordan or Jordan vs Kobe.
Mayweather looked scared like what his father said in the Pac fight. Hugged, headlocked, ran. Pacquiao beat him in that fight and it took biased commentators and rigged compubox to make it look that Floyd won.
If Floyd fought dirty, how did Duran fight in the first fight against Leonard? if Floyd was scared, at least he faced his fear and didn't quit.
You are delusional!
If you base it off that. Then I disagree.
Leanord fought Duran at the worst time in his career. He was known to be near 200lbs coming into training camp.
I favor Duran at WW, Floyd would have his hands full, similar to Maidana , but Duran has the skills to counter while moving forward and backwards. One of the best inside fighters, with power on both hands. Duran is faster, has far better foot work, far more accurate, he's rough with his opponents on the inside. He can fight on the inside and outside.
Maybe if they fought at a lower weightclass?
Lightweight, it's hard not to favor Duran, if not all his defenses were won by KO.
Again, Floyd was 37 when he fought Maidana and Maidana imo is physically stronger, stronger puncher but of course way less skilled than Duran, but the reason why he could push Floyd on to the ropes was because of size, weight and physical strength advantage.
