Depends how much Ward is allowed to hold, cause his Jab is the best weapon from both.
What is this thing about Ward holding?.
In most of his fights Ward is more than happy to work on the inside, rough it up, he even did it against a strong , tough guy like Froch.
There are plenty of fighters resorting to holding much, much more often than Ward.
As for the fight, if Ward is still the same after the long lay off , he's the favorite.
I like DeGale, but Ward has/had something special.
I see ward winning that one. Ward won't get caught by some wide shot, and Ward controls distance better than Degale.
Unless of course Ward is rusty from his hiatus.
The only thing that is bad for the top Super Middleweights like Ward and Dirrell are their extensive lay offs from the ring. Especially Dirrell... Ward is kind of in a similar spot, long extensive lay offs without activity to be fresh.
Degale had too much trouble beating mediocre Dirrell to beat the much better Ward.Degale only threw 400 punches in 12 rounds with Dirrell. He loses to Ward by 4 or 5 points in my opinion.
i have proof that ward turned down a career high payday against bute. why aren't you addressing that? why are you trying to deflect? we know bute didn't have the best resume so that makes it an even easier fight for ward right? bute certainly was better than sartison agree?
Dude Bute ain't crap man. Why are you even bringing him up like Ward would had gotten credit for trashing the scrub?
Yes, you're right. Ward was afraid of guy who's best victory was Sakio Bika. A guy who was almost decapitated by Librado Andrade in their first fight. A guy that sat on the sidelines fighting the Edison Miranda's of the world while Ward beat the 3 best SMWs out there (Kessler, Abraham, Froch). Ward must have been shaking in his boots. He probably pooped himself. I'm amazed Ward can even show his face in public.
I remember when miranda was hyped to **** ***128514;
You can talk all you want about Ward "wanting" to fight a guy like Sartison.
But I have proof that Bute actually fought guys like Jesse Brinkley and Jean Paul Mendy. As a champion. He actually fought those guys. Comical really.

Ward.
No one beats Ward at 168. Dirrell would had beat DeGale if not for those dramatic knockdowns in round 2 which left an impression. Ward not only is more defensively responsible but a much much better technician on the levels of Mayweather in a sense. The only reason he wasn't ranked #1 p4p was because Mayweather was still around.
I hope Ward takes on Kovalev, GGG, and DeGale in his next fights after his fight in june.

i'm just basing it on his actions. its very easy to play captain hindsight but ward didn't want to fight him at the time and he wouldn't do it for a lot of money. he made up comical excuses as to why he wouldn't fight him. if he sucked then just get rid of him and take the money, if he's good then fight him and get props for beating him plus the money. but no ward didn't do either. he tried to fight dmitri sartison. sartison had earned it.
Ward should have fought Bute but no way he was scared. Kessler was a much much better version of Bute when Ward beat his ass. There wasn't a serious boxing fan on Earth who would have given Bute a shot of beating Ward.
uh they have different styles. it's not about who is better overall. bute is a southpaw with a big left hand. that's not kessler. stevenson is also a southpaw with a big left hand and ward didn't want that fight either. obviously ward isn't a serious boxer because he thought bute had a shot at beating him. why would ward turn down a career high payday to fight someone who didn't have a shot at beating him? captain hindsight returns!
you really believe that sh-it lol. if ward thought bute was overhyped and not very good he would have taken him out and taken that career high payday that went with it. he was scared at the time. he then tried to fight dmitri sartison. why didn't sartison have to prove himself?

:lol1: You're a moron. You act like the resurrection of Froch's career was somehow a negative for Ward. If anything, it enhances Ward's resume.
Ward told Bute to prove himself if he wanted the fight (like Ward did in the Super 6 beating Kessler, Abraham, Froch). Bute tried and lost his soul. Reaffirming Ward's initial belief that Bute was unworthy.
Froch lost his balls though. He knows he's inferior. He will never fight Ward again. DeGale on the other hand might just be young and stupid enough to take the challenge.
If only Golovkin was as brave.

I like DeGale but Andre Ward isn't Andre Dirrell or Gennady Golovkin...we are talking a different level of boxer.
After all, there are levels to this ****...
DeGale showed a nice jab last night, stepping in with it and pushing Dirrel back with it and he has good upper body movement plus Ward is not going to keep his hands down like Dirrell did in the 2nd record.
But I also can't see him troubling Ward in any way. Ward is technically far superior, his foot work will see him get in and out with ease against DeGale's very wide stance and DeGale's low work rate suggests he won't be able to out work Ward.
Ward is also much, MUCH better on the inside than DeGale.
