These chumps should just stick to their dry humping and man-hugging contests. Makes me lol so hard when they beat that "Boxing is dead/MMA is bigger" drum and the MMAtards back them to the hilt.
These fools need to see the the staxondeck (see what I did there ) boxers not named Floyd/Manny make and the the viewers they pull when fighting.
Leo Santa Cruz would be making more money fighting Juan the tree scrub cutter than their biggest headliners.
One thing I can verify with MMA fans: they aren't jealous of boxing. They despise boxing! This is because they see it as a farce for a representation of "fighting". What MMA has done, is bring it to the forefront that boxing is not fighting. It is a sport, like fencing or wrestling or judo.
I understand that to some degree, but it wasn't always that way. Boxing at this point has gotten a little too far from real fighting, guys like Lara shouldn't exist, but there are fighters here and there that remind people of what the sport really is about.
Globally? Boxing by far
You could be correct there. I don't believe populous countries like China, Indonesia, Pakistan, India etc have been exposed to MMA as yet. Plus, their laws may never allow it! For first world countries, I would bet MMA for the younger males.

Tough for stars to sustain in free for all combat. Even if you win, you eat a lot of sh*t in the process! I do see MMA overtaking boxing in the next generation though. Easy to verify this. Which sport does the younger demographic prefer? And no one can deny it is a whole lot more exciting...providing you can handle the blood and guts.

Both sports are good, but MMA is not on boxing's level of attraction. No where near yet.
They also need to create a bunch of new stars soon, Penn - Done, Liddell - Done, Couture - Done, Lesnar - Done, GSP - Done, Silva - Done, Jones is a liability.
Some of their other stars are getting old like Cormier who's 36. Weidman is really good but even then he's 30 before his career has really took off.
Lol.. guys in ****ing esports who stream themselves playing games make more then 90% of mma fighters
Thats true! i know Lirik who issnt even in esports made 4 million bucks last year just streaming video games 5 days a week. 4 million. insane.
im done with mma. i gave it a real effort but im just so sick of the constant let downs.
mma and boxing are like polar opposites, were boxing fails mma thrives and vice versa. to its credit mma does a great ob of hyping their fights, they have one champion in each weight class and they have the best fight the best.
problem is once they actually get in the cage and fight, like previously stated you are usually left with a huge let down. sometimes you get enjoyable fights, like arlovski-browne last weekend. still not like boxing but well worth watching. but more often you get the fights like the title fights topping the bill.
weidman-belfort looked like it was about to be a decent scrap only for it to go to the ground, next thing its over. no contest in my book. in the main event johnson was kicking cormiers ass only for cormier to turn ***** and start humping him against the fence, lay on top of him etc until he got tired and then score a submission. johnson won that fight in my book.
mma guys always talk about mma being "real fighting". in a "real fight" (meaning street fight) you cant tell someone to not use their feet, take you down etc. thing is, you also cant ask a guy not to poke you in the eye, pull your hair or bite you in the dick. but if they did, that wouldnt be an honorable way of fighting. taking someone down isnt an honorable way of fighting.
i have no problem with kickboxing muay thai and stuff like that, i may prefer boxing but those guys still stand on their feet and fight like men. grappling isnt a noble, honorable or respectable way to "fight". laying on top of someone waiting for them to get tired generally isnt effective in a street fight either.
were in boxing you may get let down by fights not being made, titles not being unified etc at the end of the day you get good fights. not as many or as often as you would like, but you get it. even when guys get ripped off on the cards at least you know who really won, not like in mma when it goes to the ground, turns girly and is basically a no contest. or just wild skill less brawling on the feet. seldom do you get two skilled strikers fighting on their feet.
The sport that constantly talks about the other sport is obviously the little bro. Big brother is too busy taking care of his own **** to care about what little bro is up to.
anybody who really thinks rousey can win a street fight against Floyd or Manny or who the f**k ever is f**king mental and should be locked up in a psych ward
people see rousey beating other chick's asses and now all of a sudden she's going to beat the sh*t out of men who have trained their whole lives at the top of their sport
get the f**k out, either Floyd or Manny or who the f**k ever would have rousey drinking her meals through a straw for the rest of her natural life
This.
Besides, what the hell do you people think when talking about street fights?.
A "street fight" is not about skills, is not a fair fight.
I have seen people throwing chairs, sucker punch, tap somebody on the shoulder and -then- sucker punch, crack bottles, some idiots even go around with knives (not to mention guns).
A pro boxer like Kell Brook got stabbed in the leg with a machete, now I'm pretty sure Brook would kick the guy's ass pretty badly in a "fair fight", but that's not the case in a so called "street fight".
I find it irritating when people debate Boxing-MMA... it's like discussing what's better? McDonalds or Carls, Jr? Both might be the same franchise but have different menus and offers. Same thing with boxing-mma, both contact sports but have a different set of a fighting regime and rules.
Anyway reference to the "UFC MW Champ" - boxing by far has been the oldest sport in history, heck it's even the first sport humans invented - long before golf, football (soccer), basketball, hockey or any sport you can name. Fist-fighting or bare knuckling as competition was introduced during Olympic games in ancient Greece, farther than that - in ancient Egypt too. And you think a sport somewhat that was created 5 years or a decade ago (idk UFC history) will eventually take over? It's kind of like saying Twerking is going to take over hip hop dancing.
Boxing has it's ups and downs... but it will never die out or be disfavored. There will always be an exciting fighter in every generation despite his boxing style. "IF" UFC is more popular than boxing... why is there no UFC athletes in Forbes Magazine Athlete list? Now you answer this, in today's world... who is the highest paid athlete and what sport does he belong too? I bet a under-card fighter or a gold Olympian earns more salary than an average UFC fighter, yes UFC is bigger than boxing and has a bigger fanbase, it sure does when it doesn't generate much sales huh? I thought the more the popularity, the bigger the income? Seems like not. And If you wanna talk championships, compare boxing PPVs with UFC PPVs, statically you'll see the joke.
insert comedy option: theirs a track runner listed inside forbes magazine
Is it just me or these guys can't help. but talk about boxing?
Also its the UFC brand that's big not the fighters themselves given the business model in MMA and of course the thread title.
Why are these clowns always so concerned with what boxing is doing... Boxers never bring that sport up in interviews, most boxers could t even name you one of those guys with the exception of maybe ... Big maybe ... Silva. What's it to them anyways? MMA is "real fighting" but the REAL MONEY is in boxing so why don't you try that since you're so good at REAL FIGHTING? Oh I know why because you can't!!! you don't have the skill with your hands nor the stamina probably to go a full 12 in a sport of FAKE FIGHTING. that's cool... So tell your kids the reason they aren't living in a mansion is because you do "real fighting" and the reason why guys on ppv undercards make more than you have in your whole career is because "theyre fake fighters that should be an interesting convo.
When boxing got its two biggest fighters into a match and it was truly a global event. You get two of MMA's biggest fighters and barely anyone talks about it. But yeah, MMA is bigger.
Boxing is far more accepted as a mainstream sport by the media and among the general population globally, particularly in the US, UK, Germany, the Philippines, Mexico, and Japan. Practically all of Western and Eastern Europe consider boxing a legitimate sport, as do most Asians.
MMA will never reach the level of global popularity as boxing.
boxing literally ran mma out of japan.
The good thing about the MMA is the 1 guy ALWAYS fights the 2 guy. No stones are ever left unturned. The best fight the nest, and the fights are enforced. There's absolutely no ducking allowed. So Kudos to Dana White for that. They don't build up Frauds to be great. You earn your ****. Fighters aren't carefully managed. That's why everyone has a handful of losses and it ain't ****. And the rare, special ones...ljne Bones Jones, well, they're special. Enough said.
gsp vs silva
fedor vs randy
chuck vs wand in their primes
none of these happened
These guys shouldn't be sounding so foolish. When will MMA produce a PPV event like May 2nd?
Never. It will never happen. They will never even have an event in the same galaxy hype wise as what we saw with May 2nd.
