Did you get a chance to watch Roman Gonzales, Cuauh? I think you would appreciate his style. Agreed with the OP. Overral I thought Pac wasn't able to close the distance effectively enough, and once he got their couldnt land the punches he wanted to. Mayweather was always going to be a nightmare for him with his reach and counter punching style. I was dissapointed that Pac didnt press the issue harder in the closing rounds. Obviously he thought he was winning, but surely his corner should have been there to tell him otherwise? I guess thats what you get when you have two older fighters in there who have already made their money. I think Sanchez needs to work on how GGG reacts to opponents who dont immediately back away. He looks confused sometimes when opponents stand their ground. Against Monroe its ok, but should he fight Ward those flaws will hurt him. Ward will be tying up, using his head, pushing him back etc. He needs to start defending himself more intelligently on the inside better/bigger opponents will cause him issues otherwise. Chocolatito has been a fighter I been following for a few years now. He is amazing and I'm so happy that he's getting American tv time. He is definitely on my pound for pound list, he's about as complete a fighter as you will see and I will love to see a rematch between him and Estrada. We will see what GGG does against a bigger, good chinned opponent in Froch if that fight is made.

great post, while i would love to talk about how GGG is the real deal i really want to like him, but i need to see some better competition than this. you can see alot already but the fact is, its easy to look good against fighters who arent on your level. I.E Jeff Lacy. GGG is much more technically proficient than lacy, but once lacy stepped up his competition he was exposed something serious. Well, it's also the fighters who aren't willing to sign on the dotted line. He's fought Murray, Degael, Stevens, Rubio, Rosado, Macklin...it's not like he's avoiding guys. He just can't get fights and it is about making money.

I know there's threads for the Mayweather, Canelo and GGG fights but I have been asked to make a thread and give my useless opinion so here it is. Hopefully we can have a decent discussion. Mayweather vs Pac Basically most people called the fight exactly the way it went down. Pac was somewhat competitive in the first 4 rounds, then Mayweather took over as expected. Mayweather is just on another level, his counter punching style deals with Pac very well, and we saw that clearly. If Marquez could use counter punching to beat Pac, you think Floyd couldn't do the same? Some thought Pac might out work Floyd, but one of the things that makes Floyd so great is his ability to slow fights down because of his right hand counters. Those of you that have fought or even sparred understand when you are getting countered, it will stop you dead in your tracks. Nobody likes to get hit...well with the exception of maybe Margarito, Angulo and Bam Bam Rios. :smashfrea This takes nothing from Manny, he's a legendary fighter and a HOFer. Floyd is just special, that's it. As far as the shoulder issue, I have a friend that's a doctor and he told me there's no way Manny's rotator cuff was torn. Not throwing in that way, with that speed and power. I'm not saying he wasn't hurt, but it was on him to continue with the fight, and not disclose the injury. If they fight 100 times, Floyd wins the same exact way each and every time. Canelo vs Kirkland This one was the easiest to call. Kirkland is tailor made for Canelo, and we saw a spectacular KO. Canelo did what he had to do and what impressed me the most was his willingness to stay in the pocket and fight Kirkland's fight. Canelo's defense has improved greatly in the last 3 years. His inside fighting and movement is really nice to watch, and he can crack at 154. Also, Canelo's accuracy was insane, he's really learning punch placement and that could be scary. Kirkland did the only thing he could do, that was attack. Canelo handled the pressure well, and finished him off. I believe Canelo's best punch might be his uppercuts and that left hook to the body. What changed that fight wasn't the lead left hook, it was those body shots that brought Kirkland's hands down, and set him up for the right over the top. I also don't see Canelo's endurance as a big a deal as everyone says. Sure he isn't Roberto Duran endurance wise, but that was a fast and hard 3 rounds. GGG vs Monroe GGG is the real deal Holyfield. He stalks, he cuts off the ring and what is most impressive about him is his accuracy with big shots. That lead left hook over Monroe's right hook in the first knockdown was beautiful timing. I knew Monroe wouldn't last long, he showed heart but GGG is on another level. I also don't buy Abel Sanchez' nonsense about GGG allowing himself to be hit. There's some kinks in the armor but I believe there's 2 possible reasons for it. 1) He doesn't have good defense inside because of lack of head movement 2) He is on love with his power and disregards his defense in order to KO his opponents. I think it's 2, but what could change that is facing a real puncher who will change his mind about coming in so reckless. good read .....

It's different when he respects what is coming back at him. Not that I'd claim he has great defense or anything, but it's clear he doesn't give a damn about getting hit if he thinks it's time to take his opponent out. I agree but the you said what the problem is, what will he do when hit by a big puncher? I know Abel Sanchez has said on many occasions that he's molded him in the light of Chavez Sr. The one thing he lacks is Sr's defense. Sr moved so fluidly and his head was bobbing and weaving non stop for 12 rounds. GGG can't or doesn't do that enough.

I agree with your may-pac assessment technically but dont you feel like the way mayweather fights, is too negative for a 12 round title bout? like yeah he's defending well, he's landing back, but he's just not doing all that much, and if his name wasn't floyd mayweather he wouldnt always be getting given the rounds, cos he simply isn't putting in enough work, while the other guy is there trying to make the fight? Canelo is a beast, like you said i love his accuracy and power. Him vs GGG is my favourite fight to happen atm lol i love how u said GGG is the real deal holyfield, almost my exact thoughts of the guy. He is the real deal 100%. I agree however he has fallen in love with his power a bit too much, and having a sturdy chin he's willing to just walk guys down and look for those precision power punches to close the fight in style. and in all honesty props to him for that. Him and Canelo are the two high profile guys now who we've got trying to win fights in style, put the hurt on which at the end of the day is what gets asses in seats and makes our sport great. Anyway we know that bone numbing power and offensive strength like GGGs is a double edged sword, can make you so reckless that you are wide open to get timed and stopped. Can you see Canelo timing GGG and stopping him? The thing is, I don't like Mayweather the person. I can't deny Mayweather the fighter. I always tell my fighters that boxing is not fighting. Sure we love to see the Margaritos, Rios, Angulos, Provodnikov's of the world but that's not everything that boxing is. Mayweather has a counter punching, conservative defensive style that is incredibly hard to beat. IMO he lost once, to Castillo, but that's the only style that beats him. A pressure style fighter, who is bigger and can take a punch. Don't get me wrong, Mayweather has chosen his opponents very well, and props to him even though I think historians won't be too kind. In the end, Pac didn't take enough chances, not the way Rios did against Pac for example. Pac got hit, didn't like it and didn't press the way he needed to because I think he was surprised by Mayweathers power. Canelo vs GGG is something that's in the future, but not in the near future. GB is smart to keep him away from GGG because he is bigger and stronger than Canelo, so they will give Canelo time to mature and grow. We forget he's all of 24 years old...lol Can Cenelo hurt GGG? Sure, if he stands in the pocket with him but that's like asking if you can survive getting hit by a truck. Sure you might, but then again you might get run over and killed.
