Monroe has actually fought on US television like four fights now. DeGeale not so much. Anyways, the whole point in going up and fighting Chavez was it would have been huge money at the time. PPV if I'm not mistaken. That's usually what it takes to entice someone to move up in weight, same reason's Ward hasn't moved up yet, or Rigondeaux, etc. (money hasn't been big enough for them). If Cotto vacates obviously Golovkin fights for the vacant title against whoever the WBC has ranked highest/available. The sooner the better. Once GGG unifies 160, he can move up if he pleases. There obviously is no obligation to move up if he doesn't want to especially if he's not planning on campaigning there yet. I just don't understand why so many people are opposed to unification fights and one champion per division. All this BS talk about so and so needs to move up/down is so full of ****. Every boxing fan should want clarity in a division - one person we can call CHAMP who has all the belts/lineal title. That's all GGG is trying to do here and I want this in every division not just middleweight. Tired of people ducking guys in their own weight classes and fans justifying it, it's ridiculous. After Geale, Cotto should man up or drop the title, period. As a boxing fan I care more about quality match-ups, not titles. Golovkin wants to do the same, he has wanted to crush that island rat for some time now. The boxing world wants to see it. Accept it. Speak for yourself. I think that's the order he's gonna fight in: Geale, Canelo & GGG. That's what makes sense. It's a job for these guys, not a video game. Canelo brings far more $$ than Golovkin. Hopefully, GGG will fight a legit opponent by the time Cotto fights Canelo, setting up a gene potentially huge fight between the winners of the respective matches.

But the Geale fight isn't encouraging. Golovkin already knocked Geale out and Cotto isn't even fighting him at his full weight. In any case, just because Cotto has a scheduled fight doesn't mean people aren't going to talk about the guys they want to see him fight. I would love to see Cotto-Canelo or Cotto-GGG. I think both those fights are huge and I would probably try to travel to wherever they are to see them live. People invest energy in talking about those fights because the prospects of those matchups are exciting.

This thread is a good read.
