People have the misconception that GGG is an inside fighter but that is false, he does his best work from mid range. He is a mid range fighter like Lucas Matthysse who has the power to do well and have success on the inside but their strength is in the mid range where they can get more leverage and snap into their punches. Brandon Rios is an actual inside fighter who does his work throwing those close range uppercuts.
Willie Monroe post fight said he had success when he fought on the inside and also picked Canelo over GGG, but GGG over Cotto. I personally feel GGG beats anyone between 154-160.

Than why has he knock out people with body shots or the left hook to the top of the head I believe all those were done from the inside
I think we need to see him in with another puncher, as he seems to be getting used to just walking through his opponent's punches because they can't hurt him. The best way to remind him to be defensively responsible is to match him against a puncher: Quillin, Jacobs, Lee, Lemieux. Tureano Johnson can punch a little and likes to fight on the inside, but he's clearly not on GGG's level. It would be an entertaining bout while it lasted, but IDK how good Johnson's chin is.
He's been in with a BIG puncher in Stevens and walked through some of his biggest punches. But youre right, i'd love to see him in there and destroy Quillin(who imo is scared to fight GGG). I think that if Cotto/Canelo happens, GGG will fight the winner of Lemieux/N'Dam
Regardless if he is not a great inside fighter, you have to take his power to get inside so yeah good luck trying to get inside anyway. Can he fight some inside? Sure but I don't think that is one of his best strengths. He likes to be the hunter, he likes to walk you down and get off with his Power. It will take a complete fighter to beat GGG, you have to be able to do a little bit of everything. Inside fighting alone won't beat him!
Dare i say it, Triple G needs a better trainer
He gets hit way too much for my liking

I will say it time and time again, clinching is NOT CHEATING! All the greats used clinching and it is a very effective tool. Anyone who's boxed knows that, excessive clinching however is illegal.
Thats the thing. The rule book needs to progress. Just the way it progressed in ALL other sports.
The way clinching is allowed to be exploited, it removes one of the essential aspects of BOXING, INSIDE FIGHTING. The referee bails out the fighter who clinches, throwing away all the hard work that was done to put him on the ropes by his opponent.
If a fighter is good enough from the outside, he should be able to keep himself in the outside.
It benefits boxing, and the fans.
Fighters actually have to fight for their position.
Again bro, just because you can doesn't mean you're an inside fighter, His best work is mid range.
I agree but he does not complete shut down in the short range like many fighters do.
The only thing that I haven't seen him do is fight backwards
He's best when his opponent is trying to back away it seems, his whole style is based on seek and destroy. He looks a bit confused when his opponent stands their ground
i saw that too. Not his forte, but he did alright. he landed some pretty good uppercuts on the inside and decent combos.
There's difference between clinching to spoil and to guys close to each other who would prefer to be broken up in the ebb and flow of the fight. When Monroe was trying to survive he wasn't allowed to clinch without paying for it. Same happened with Murray.
Like I said you and I saw different fights (at least in regard to that). It happens and I could be incorrect longer run, but my money will be with what I saw.
You and I saw different fights, every time Golovkin got cliched he stood there and looked at the ref. When he was in close he was just standing there a lot.
Didn't make it look difficult at all against a guy that is not known for using that tactic.

Clinching GGG is a chore. Monroe tried and took shots for his trouble. He stopped trying and so did Murray.
GGG is very physical when people try to clinch him.
Felix Trinidad was the same way. Not even the TBE of clinching Hopkins could hug Tito. #Skills

Have you seen GGG's uppercuts on the inside? they are brutal
You can be good in the inside but not an inside fighter. Inside fighters prefer to fight at the inside where they are best, fighters like GGG and Matthysse can be vicious inside but are much more effective mid range.
so the key to beating golovkin is to cheat? you have been conditioned to accept cheating as a legitimate boxing strategy. how do you feel?
