his chin hasn't really been tested, i've seen him take a couple on the chin and hurt more than once
but his defense doesn't see his chin checked often, he usually gives you his forehead or gets inside of shots/smothers etc, i only saw monroe land 2 punches on golovkins chin while golovkin was smacking him right on the chin on occassion
Enough said. Watch him fight and look how well he keeps his chin down. Reduces the damage big time!
I agree, it was the first thing I noticed about him as I also tuck my chin in. That way you never get hit clean on the button.
Damn this site is full of nut huggers instead of real boxing fans, I'm Golovkin's fan and HEND is 100% right about his inside game and fighting at the center of the ring. Being a GGG fan doesn't mean you have to be his groupie too. Stop being so emotional cause he said something against the one of yours (and mine, too!) favorite fighters, it wouldn't hurt you to be a bit more objective.
Being objective, GGG is one of the best inside fighters in boxing today.
The way he throws those short vicious hooks to the body, or lowers his head, tucks it under his opponents chin, then bores foreward so they have to give ground and allow him room to get his punches off - something Chavez Sr used to do a lot in his fights - is something to see.
It may not look like the kind of inside fighting you are accustomed to, but that's down to your limitations, not GGG's.
If by "inside game" you mean clinching and holding then yeah, this is true.

He's got an incredible chin
He won't get knocked during his career
Never say never, but it's going to take either massive power or ridiculous size to hurt him.
What fight is that?
Curtis Stevens vs Saul Román. Curtis caught Golovkin clean a few times too, the only fighter that I have see stagger Golovkin briefly.

Not just that. Monroe, a nautral born outside boxer had success against him up close. Golovkin didn't move his head and he looked far less committed in his punches than in his usual game. But yes you're right clinch ad hold too. Like it or not, it's a part of boxing.
Sorry but nobody will convince me against my own eyes. If I saw with my own eyes multiple times that he hasn't got a good defence I won't convinced by others that he has a good defence.
I don't know what's the big deal about it. His defence is his offence, plenty of fighters fought that way in the past, I don't think about face first brawlers like Rios or Provo now but great fighters, like Pac or Barrera. So I don't know why some Golovkin fans try to defend his defence to death even if everybody saw it's kinda sloppy.
If I would be a big GGG fan I would rather worry about his pretty clueless inside game and how he seems lost sometimes when he's forced to fight on the middle of the ring instead his favourite position when his opponent back against the ropes or in the corner and he has space to put his combos on them.

Agreed, he does tuck his chin well, and I think he sees most shots coming, so atleast being able to anticipate the impact is also helping. But also hasn't actually been in with any legit opponents who can crack yet, so we'll see how well this goes for him.

Yup that chin is well hidden. Golovkin is the ultimate offensive pressure fighter. It's going to be tough to find someone to beat him while he is in his prime.
