Starting at 1:35 mark of the video.
"Stick & move, stay out of range"
"Stick him with left jabs and right crosses, tie him up and box him"
"I'm not a hard puncher, I'm not known for being a hard puncher"
"Boxing ability, speed & whooping him on points. Go the distance if neccessary"
IJS. There's another boxer that does all these same things but gets bashed for his style.
Speak on it boxingscene.
Against pac, Floyd was float like a butterfly, punch like a butterfly. What a fraud. Floyd is great at throwing a lot of pitty pat jabs and playing tag and head locking his opponent.
and manny still lost...:boxing::boxing::boxing:
I'm not denying he had some big moments/big KOs. But that wasn't his overall style.
Until he had that break, Ali was KOing almost all his fighters except for someone like George Chuvalo who had a good chin. When he came back, he was not the same fighter but still used it to beat guys like Foreman.
Ali, like he said, stings like a bee. Never heard that for Floyd. All we keep hearing is laughter when we hear his team say he will be different this time and KO the opponent.
Sucker punch KO? That is Floyd territory.
KOing the most feared opponents? That was Ali who did that.

Ali only has like 10 more knockouts than floyd
Oh, so now we are joking ....... Who did Floyd KO?
Don't come back with no sucker punch, no weight drain, not someone who jumped divisions to fight Floyd. Who?
Ali fought and KOd the guys that people thought he had little to no chance of even beating.
Ali was hated too back then. If he was an active fighter today with social media it would be 10x worse.
He would be a boring, runner, clincher racist.
That's why I say wait 5-10 years. At that time Floyd will be looked at in a totally different light. Look at Sweet Pea. He's called a master boxer and appears on every ATG list. When he was an active fighter? Oh nooo. He was a boring, clown who they couldn't wait to fall off the top.
Boring?? What a complete dìckhead you are! As another poster commented, this man stopped Frazier, KO'd Foreman, KO'd Liston ...... Are you fvcking serious!! You stupid muthafùckër! Go and wash your mouth out it's obviously riddled with your boyfriend Floyds ball bag. Stupid shìthead

The only reason why the general public started to hold Ali up in esteem is because he got sick (once the Parkinson's really started setting in, it instantly became pretty difficult for folks to deride him as the Louisville Lip). The same can be said for Jack Johnson (it took a racially-charged false sentence and 50 years in the ground before people started hailing his achievements).
If there's a heaven, Floyd Mayweather Jr will live a healthy and fit life, thrive as a person and successful businessman for at least the next 50 years, and go in the ground with the same butthurt haters finally seeing and accepting the man's boxing brilliance.
This is my only criticism of Mayweather.
mayweather did have a high KO percentage in the lower weights, before he destroyed his hands. hell, i think even a safety-first floyd is more eye pleasing than ali.
Why do you feel like your better then people who didnt watch his fights live? All you have to do is watch all the video footage of him in and out the ring and you'll see why people think so highly of him.
It's not the same. It is never the same when you watch any sporting event with advance knowledge of the outcome. It's like watching the Crying Game when you already know that she is a he. You can only speak for your own opinions on something, not for other people's. It is not a question of being better. You want to speak of how YOU feel about his fights from old video replays, by all means go right ahead.
But talking about how others felt? Sorry, you had to be there and have first hand knowledge and talked to people yourself or read the news reports yourself.
One thing I can say is that EVERYONE I knew was listening to or interested in the Ali - Spinks fight. Boxing was nothing like it is today, it was the biggest sport in the world.
And this applies to any athlete in any sport. I grew up watching Bobby Orr playing hockey and consider him the best of all time. But I missed other greats like Maurice Richard and can never know what it was like to see him live in his prime.
If you are not old enough to have seen Ali fight live, you have no right to comment on how people felt about his fights. I remember listening to Ali - Spinks on the radio in my car and being shocked and stunned when Ali lost. I could even tell you the name of the girl I was with and where we were parked to listen to the broadcast on CFOX radio with Ted Tevan, the best radio sports jock in Canadian history, doing the local colour between rounds with Howard Cosell doing the main broadcast.
Those are memories that no fighter today can ever come close to matching.

The thread is obviously about floyd .
Ppl accuse floyd of being a "coward" and "running" and "hugging". Then act like they love ali , when alis whole style was footwork or and staying out of range. When someone got close he clinched too.
If someone uses this style today they are hated
ali was hated for this style it was called boring this is before he went against the draft he got the this is boring treatment as well they claimed he had to be exciting outside the ring cause his style in it was boring this was before his comeback
Floyd fans are so insecure. It's like you expect everyone to lie and say he's an exciting warrior who takes risks to please the fans. The truth is he doesn't give a damn about the fans or the sport itself, that's why a lot of people don't like him except for a select few who live vicariously through him because of his lifestyle. The guy is undefeated and has made more money than everyone in the history of the sport. Those are facts so be content with that.
Part true. Part is just your opinion not facts.
Me personally when I think warrior I don't think Floyd. When I think skilled boxer I think Floyd.
Since when is it about taking risk when you have things in control? That's like the Seahawks about to win the superbowl but throwing a pass on the 1 yard line. Risk...
ali is a big figure in the sport, casuals name drop him to appear knowledgeable/passionate but in truth they may have seen maybe 1 or 2 of his fights in their entirety.
