If this unlikely outcome takes place, what's next ???
Does the WBC force Geale to fight GGG, as mandated without a voluntary???
Does GGG continue his belt quest in the Middleweight division with no interest in Cotto but still with a eye on Canelo ???
Does Cotto surrender all leverage to Canelo and Canelo takes the fight on his terms ??? Or will Cotto be too tainted to fight immediately, without a redemption fight or 2 ???? Like perhaps one vs Kid Chocolate ???
Does Cotto give up all hope for Cotto vs Mayweather II or sees Canelo as a path to Mayweather II ???
Does Canelo focus straight on Mayweather next ???
it's not really the unthinkable. to me this is somewhere between a 60/40 and 70/30 kind of fight. Geale is very much a live dog. He's not going to just stand still and let Cotto wail on him.
Cotto is at the end of his career. The world is basically waiting to see Canelo and Golovkin pick his bones. Cotto should retire gracefully. He's was a great fighter and the Trout match should have told him that his best days are getting further behind him.
If Cotto loses to Geale he loses his title and all his leverage for a fight with Alvarez or Mayweather. And losing to a guy he already KO'd would make him unsuitable for GGG, at least for what he is used to making.
No other way to spin it, a loss here costs Cotto millions.
