Do you think it is a reasonable excuse to dislike boxers because of their fans? There are fans that may make you cringe and annoy you but is that a good reason to not support boxers even if they are good?
There are very few boxers I dislike. Floyd is the least likeable because of the way he acts yet ironically he's my favorite current boxer. I appreciate his skill and it's hard for me not to root from someone from Grand Rapids where I'm from. Manny fans annoy me the most because they will totally disrespect Floyd but I still like Manny himself. I'm not racist but I'm a nationalist. Until just recently, my favorites have always been American. The only fighters I really didn't like was Duran and Hagler that's because I'm a SRL fan. Hagler's bitterness to this day towards SRL makes him my most disliked fighter ever. Currently, I'm not a fan of Cotto mostly because he's MW champ and fighting Geale step it up man!
I don't like it when any fighter's fanbase becomes raving mad and completely biased in his favor no matter what. But the flipside of that is there are always the obsessive detractors too, so it goes both ways. I try to remain as objective as possible, even though naturally we can't help but cheer for certain guys here and there.
Thurman fans bug me most these days, because it seems like they cheer for him more for what he says outside of the ring than what he does inside it. He's fought only a couple legit welterweights and spent 3/4s of his last two fights circling the ring nonstop and putting everyone to sleep. But because he talks a lot and says he wants to fight everyone (hasn't proven it though), and because he has the high KO ratio his fans act like he's the Mike Tyson of welterweights and everyone is "ducking him."
Absolutely. How the hell do you expect me to be a fan of someone whose majority of fans are racist and bigots? That doesn't make any sense.
That'd be like me being a fan of the KKK organization because they do "some" charity work. Sure, I like seeing charity work, but I still don't like what they stand for.
Sure, I can appreciate GGG's (limited) skillset but when 90% of his fanbase only like him because he's white and is the supposed "anti-slick boxing killer" I can't appreciate that.
Ink you talk about racism and yet hate on anyone that doesn't dick ride a black fighter so who is racist?

Prime Pacquiao fans (08-13) Mayweather fans (always) Eurobum fans. Theyre all annoying.
i love ggg but im curious what happens when he lose..they keep saying he getting ducked...that not his opponent fault he shoulf get a better promtoer..if he was with haymon or bob he wpuld have been a superstar by now..
I'm a huge GGG fan! If he loses then so be it. Who knows he can be one of those b level fighters that can't beat the top dogs that remains to be seen

It a stupid reason but I'm guilty of it
Cool hand Luke said that? Man I haven't seen that film in so long that made me want to hop on the interwebz and have a refresher lol.
Nah that is the Warden I think, but that is the most famous lines from that movie.
Still it works here because there are always consequences for ones actions if they get out of line. That is just how it is.
True, adults aren't suppose to act like that. I have said that downward spiral **** so many times, but that only ends if there is mutual respect and understanding.
I can come to an accord with most posters, and I know you are cool with all sorts of dudes as well.
but as the old Cool Hand Luke quote goes " What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men."

This isn't a dating website so I'm not here to excite you. You perpetually "slide out of the threads " because you make extremely stupid post and get called out for it.
You still have egg on your face from your ridiculous boxing predictions and probably have the IQ of a grapefruit.
I'll never forget how you failed miserably trying to guess the ethnicity of poster's.
Same here, same here :lol1:
Here you go. A fighter is disliked because:
A) He is unbeaten and often arrogant or a prick
B) His fans suck: they hype a fighter, they lack knowledge, they insult a favorite fighter
C) His race, color, etc
D) He ducks
E) He lies or cheats
F) He is competing in the division of a favorite fighter
G) He is not that good and the hype is not justified
H) He got a shot at a title he didn't earn
I) He was given gift decisions
J) any combination of the above
I'm guilty of it( Manny) , For me its not the only reason I'd be rooting against a certain fighter but if I hate their fanbase it's definitly a contributing factor
That's classic political bull**** (I'm not saying your post is bull**** I am saying that reasoning for people is bull****). Republicans will do something and then go "Well.........Democrats do it too!!" and vica versa. That doesn't make it right or acceptable.

I'm shutting this back-and-forth down. Not only are you tremendously stupid but you're extremely boring. I don't engage with this sort of stuff. Normally, I slide out of these threads without responding back to idiots but I kinda wanted to tell you to your face why I dislike you. You f*cking suck.

That's because they believe that many black fans hate Eastern European fighters.
See how it goes? A typical "chicken and egg" situation which locks some fans into an action and reaction argument which just goes on and on and on ...
Like 2 kids throwing stones at each other. You ask each one why he's chucking stones at the other and the answer you get from both is - "because he's chucking them at me"

Nah not in my opinion. It would be literally not liking someone because your friend doesn't, even if you do not know this other person. You need to like or dislike things based on your own opinion and not the impact of other peoples'.
Man, I'm not black or white. I still support and enjoy watching black, white and asian boxers despite their fans so why shouldn't you?
Uhhh where in my post did I say I DIDN'T? LOL did you not read me say "skills over race or nationailty" or did that one go right over your head?
It's hilarious how one thread is leading to another thread which is leading to another thread.
Somewhat. Look at someone like Lucas Matthysse. I could never be a fan of this guy.
1.He isn't that skilled.
2.He has literally some of the worst fans in the sport. Actually his fans are more of a reason for his hatred than the fighter himself since he hasn't actually done anything outside of the ring to warrant any hatred.
Too many Eastern European fans of eastern European boxers(See:Wlad, Loma, GGG, Kovalev) spend ALL THEIR DAYS hating on black fighters. Everyday. Without fail. It makes it harder to support those particular fighters but ****, skills trump everything else in my book so I do anyways though I try to avoid being associated with those types.
