Tyson Fury's world heavyweight title fight against Wladimir Klitschko is heading towards a purse bid but the Briton's promoter Mick Hennessy is still confident the fight will be staged in England.
Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) is the mandatory challenger to world No.1 Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs), who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF world title belts.
Talks between the two camps have yet to result in an agreement and Hennessy believes the date and venue are most likely going to be decided by which promoter wins the purse bid next month.
"Right now the fight looks like it's heading for a purse bid," Hennessy told ESPN.
"There's a big case for it being held in the UK and big money for it, so I don't know if it will happen in Germany just because it might go to a purse bid. I think the fight could happen any time from September to November."
Hennessy is working with fellow British promoter Frank Warren to stage Klitschko-Fury at an outdoor stadium in England and to be broadcast live on subscription channel BoxNation.
The odds of winning the purse bid will be stacked heavily in 39-year-old Ukrainian Klitschko's favour since the champion is entitled to 80 percent of the winning bid.
However, Hennessy is confident of making Klitschko travel to the UK to box for the first time since 2000, with Wembley Stadiums one of the venues under consideration.
Klitschko made an 18th title defence with a comfortable points win over Bryant Jennings in New York last month, while unbeaten Fury, who at 6ft 9in is three inches taller than the champion, last boxed in March.
Groves didn't take 15% they made a deal before it got to that stage.
How much did Groves come out with in the end compared to Froch ? Dirk stated the other day Froch took 9m sterling, likely before Sky and Eddie took their cut. So Groves took under 2 million right ?
Say Fury wins gets all the belts obviously he dictates how much Wlad would get in the rematch right?
Yeh, their would likely be one too as K2 could dig as deep as any other promotional outfit with maybe the exception of Ryabinsky's backing of Povetkin, potentially their would be a fight there.
As much as Fury vs Povetkin would be fun to watch, obviously I'm rooting for Wlad.
I must admit I felt the same when Pulev was notified he would be due the same cut, but it could be worse Groves only took a 15% cut in the Froch rematch. Pulev really earnt the right to fight Wlad, coming through several higher profile fights than Fury fought, I mean Fury's biggest career win to date is Chisora who really is a journeyman having only convincing wins over the likes of Pala and Gerber whom I never really considered credible at European level, those guys are pretty much the same level of guys like Sprott and Harrison.
I'd say 20 percent is more than fair and adequate in this scenario. Fury needs to accept whatever offer and simply turn up and hope Wladimir got old overnight, a fools hope, but Fury can bounce back against the likes of opponents David Price has been facing in his rebuilding phase over in Germany. Unfortunately the myth he created around himself will have been shattered at that stage, I jus hope we see him fight again after his title shot, I suspect he may take time out after all the rubbish he has spoken lol.

That's actually an appropriate split, all things considered. Klitschko is the biggest name in the division and he has all the belts except one. Fury has.....?
The only time Klitschko gave a fighter a 50/50 split was David Haye, and that was only because Haye had the WBA strap. Fury doesn't bring that to the table he's just a mandatory.
"gave Haye" lol. Haye brought more money to the table than Klitschko. It was Klitschko's highest payday. Haye had just made £10m against Harrison and was making more than both Klitschko's combined let alone Wlad. So he was given 50/50 he didn't give it.
With regards to Fury, it's obvious what's happening. Klitschko is probably low-balling Fury and has probably offered him a contract with multiple rematch clauses in it.
Bottom line is, who gives a fuk where it's held or who makes what. Just make the damn fight.

I just think 70/30 is a bit more fair, because Fury is not a total unknown.
However, Wlad is certainly the one wearing the pants in this negotiation. I would assume this sort of news may make Team fury a bit more amenable to whatever deal Wlad offers.
Plus I think Fury is going to get knocked out and make Wlad look really good, which may end Fury as a top end fighter.
I kind of get it but damn that is pretty harsh to Fury. Oh well got to take that short money in hopes of the long term windfall.

I don't feel sorry for him, he wanted to get the big money fight without as less risk as possible build himself up mainly on his trash talking calling out fighters who he didn't really want to fight, build his way up to the big money fight with hype and beating up former cruiserweights and small, fat hw-s. His best win is Chisora and a cw Cunningham, bot guys are way shorter than him. Fury fought nobody who had the same or at least similar size as his. Now he will knocked out by Klitschko for 20% of the pursue, I repeat, I don't feel sorry for him.
I don't feel sorry for him, because even 20% should be a career high payday for him for such a great opportunity.
The real money is always in winning the fight. He has the opportunity to cash in this lottery ticket, he would just be getting the annuity not the lump sum.
I do think Wlad wrecks Fury, so I might feel sorry for him when it is all said and done because that could be a career ender.

20% is proper crap
Mick and Frank can't negotiate for sh*t.
Fury could really sell this fight and Wlad gets majority of the money.
Hope he asks his team to get a better deal.
