So now it's all said and done and the two trainers have gone head to head with their fighters, Mayweather and Pacquiao, does Floyd Sr's stock raise above Roach's stock as a trainer, both now and in the eyes of history?
floyd sr certainly did a better job for that particular fight
jes, Roach didnt reach the next lvl that night. Hes one of the best, but he was unimaginative, whereas Sr. executed perfectly.
Lets not be biased or silly, Mayweather's a better fight and won the fight. This is like asking who's better after Manny KO'd Hatton. Floyd Sr was in Hatton's corner and that didnt make a difference
Definitely Floyd Sr > Roach as of now.
The race for the trainer of the year 2015 is wide open as of now. I don't think Floyd Sr wins it just off the Pacquiao win, if he can get a few more notable wins he would definitely get it. Roach is having a bad year & can't win it this year, all of his fighters have lost (Pac, Provodnikov, Shiming etc).
Not sure what Robert Garcia is up to, Rios beat Alvarado but that wont be enough.
Virgil Hunter is doing well with Khan win over Alexander, I'm sure Khan is gonna look real good against Algieri like he should + Andre Ward fight coming up.
It's wide open as of now.
All Roach does is put a body bag and let PAC drill on him. If Roach was a good coach Oscar wouldn't of been tired in the 7th round vs Floyd he wouldn't have had Mike Tyson make a fool of himself when fought Lewis. All Roach is good at is talking a good game but delivers a disappointment. He's credited for someone else's work someone else trained and Made Pacquaio . Every time it see Pacquaio train I see Bouboy working the mitts with him

it's not even close, Mayweather win it by a mile
What technical advice did Roach give Pacquiao?
I heard Buboy was giving more relevant information. He told Pac to stop walking at him in a straight line. Roach kept telling him use more combinations, but it's tough throwing combos at someone that isn't there to be hit. Pac looked like he wanted to throw some combos during the 1st round, and every time he got set Mayweather would take a step back and make him rethink his entire plan.
Neither has been able to prove they can build a champion from scratch. Floyd snr has the better claim to it though having Floyd.
Lol wut.. That's exactly what sr did with floyd
I don't think Mayweather Sr. is even close to Roach, Roger is the real head of camp for the Mayweathers. He is the one that should be top of this poll.
Roach had no Plan B once his "hope that Mayweather pushes the fight" strategy failed and Floyd Sr had no idea that his charge was damaged, leading him to call for instructions that Floyd was physically in no position to follow through on (asking Floyd to press the fight and pick up the volume, with Floyd working his style behind damaged hands).
If Freddie "the joke coach" Roach was so great, why doesnt he get any of his fighters to make any adjustments? Khan didn't know how to protect himself after his first knock down vs Garcia..... Pacquiao didn't make one adjustment in 4 fights spanning over 8 years against jmm and had provodnikov looking like a dummy who loved eating jab-sandwiches against an ESPN level fighter (algieri). How this dude got toty 7 times is beyond me.
Damn, you hit the nail right on the head...like Floyds jab and right hand did manny.:nutkick:

Loads of top fighters trained with Roach for 1 or 2 fights and then left he can't be that good atleast in their opinion.
Still better than Floyd Snr
Only other fighter I remember Floyd training was ODH, and he just made Oscar worse not better
But we're dealing with the but-hurt, excuse filled pac-tards, so you know who they'll pick. Oh yeah didnt they both train Oscar? Let me check what oscar believes...
Roach by FAR
Apart from Floyd what the hell has Floyd Snr done?
Can Floyd train current fighters to become better like Roach?
Look what Floyd Snr with Ricky Hatton, he couldnt even turn up to their training sessions on time.
Theres a reason why Roach is most sought out trainer in the world and why nobody wants to train with Floyd Snr
Floyd Mayweather Jr was a talented athlete to begin with along with an unbreakable determination, you cant teach the shoulder roll to your average kid and create the P4P best boxer.
You dont become the best trainer training 1 fighter, you become the best trainer when you can improve multiple fighters and maximise their potential.
Floyd only teaches one way and its his way and style, Roach can work and improve on your style. Thats the difference.
If Floyd Snr got Pacquiao instead of Roach would Pacquiao been as succesful as he is today? Hell no.
And floyd sr pupil schooled roach's best pupil to date.

Mayweather pretty much does his own thing and Pacquiao doesn't listen to Roach so neither one of them should get credit for being great coaches. Roach is doing well with Cotto but the jury is still out.
Floyd won his first title with sr......roach is the most overrated coach in all sports. He teaches on defense at all.
right, just think about this, in every sport yes, offense sells, but when faced with a team that plays defense in the big games, the defensive team almost always wins. In this case defense has sold the most, and won when he faced it. Floyd sr built floyd jr from his start til his first championship. and then came back. roach is all about offense but theres more to sports than just offense. Competition is about one thing...Winning and when roach's best fighter came up against some defense, he got schooled and lost. :nutkick:
