It would be a step up fight and a name opponent for Spence. Would he be ready if they met in the ring in 2015 or 2016? I don't know. There's a chance Maidana ruins Spence. Or we could have a chance to see how special Errol is.

WHO WINS?
I didnt think of Swift, I like that match up a lot! I guess I was more thinking in terms of fighting a guy like Spence, Berto or Bundu would be a good tune-up kinda fight before a "potentially" great prospect. I also agree Chino like motivation and DSG is the kinda fight thatll light a fire under his @$$ I think.
Its the fight Maidana wants, but Danny Garcia has been silent on the issue.
I dunno what Haymon is doing with Garcia, or what he expects or wants out of him. He keeps letting him fight at CWs, and this is a problem because its confusing to the public, and whole point of this endeavour is to normalise boxing make it mainstream.
Perhaps, Maidana Garcia will happen, Haymon needs to start cashing in some chips.
Spence looks good. But also looks like the type of fighter someone quick enough could get the better of. He's a very calm collected, timing based puncher. I'd like to see Spence - Thurman.
Other thing to consider about Spence, he's well into his prime. He's wasted a lot of time doing nothing for someone supposedly as talented as him. Always suspicious of a fighter who is this reluctant to use his gifts in the early part of his career.
I have to see how Spence goes through more adversity before I would know if he has what it takes to beat a beast like Chino. Spence has looked much more defensively responsible lately, especially when it comes to changing planes.
Too early to say right now so I will lean Maidana based on experience if the fight was done RIGHT NOW! Would be too big of a leap for Spence Jr. I think his career is moving at the right pace, no need to leap up and take a fight like that so quickly. Roberto Garcia will be a good test for him, lets see how he does. Yeah most see it as winnable but it has been prospects in which they struggle to get past Veterans like this or even lose to them. I've seen it with Shawn Porter vs Julio Diaz first fight in which Diaz gave him hell, we seen David Price gets knocked out by Tony Thompson Twice who was suppose to be this next great Heavyweight and Thompson exposed his Weak Chin.
I think Spence Jr is a special young fighter but he still has to go out and prove himself and show the rest of the world his talent and abilities.
Maidana will be favourite due to the vast advantage in experience and rightfully so but I'd pick Spence by decision.
But it would be a great fight I'd love to see it.
Spence has tools that could trouble Maidana but it's hard to judge because he's never fought at that level before.
If Chino can still make 147 without killing himself he'd be too much for Spence right now. Spence would make too many bad decisions at this stage of his career.
Errol definitely has the skills to beat Maidana, but he still needs some grooming. The fight would most likely be a main event, making the jump from fighting on the undercards to headlining with a seasoned vet like Maidana is asking a lot out of him. I don't see him being able to a perform to the best of his abilities on that big of a stage just yet.
yea some folks aren't being real and overconfident with spence's skills. dude has 16 fights vs nobodies and he's gonna "win easy" against marcos? that's a huge step up in competition and a recipe for disaster.
heard this one before. by body shot right?
Spence has a significant height and reach advantage, athletic advantage, hell I would give Spence the edge in most anything outside ring expirience and power. Also as of now, Chino could'nt beat a blow up doll's ass with the shape he is in.
Spence doesnt impress me as everyone else on here. I remember when it started. Some guy hyped him up a while back before a fight and he looked great. Then came the Broner story, but in all reality he hasnt looked that impressive besides maybe one fight since.
I'm not ready to annoint him the new king just yet, but he looks good to me. He has bodied his last 3 opponents impressively. The problem is he is fighting guys that just don't belong in the ring with him. He needs to fight a top 15 guy as I think he is ready. Garcia while a tough guy, is just going to be there for Spence to pick apart and really is'nt a challenge for him. Garcia's last opponent looked good boxing Garcia until he tired out. I don't see Spence tiring out.

Maidana's style is tailor made for Spence. Spence will pick him apart and stop him late. Easy work imo.

That is a high end cross roads fight.
I would say this though Maidana is a tricky fighter (a lot trickier than he is given credit for), and in a step up fight fighting a tricky guy is not usually ideal for the inexperienced guy. Also if Spence can make the fight simple against Maidana it is likely to be a pretty bad fight, so that is also a pretty big drawback to making that the step up fight when winning may not help him that much (especially winning the easy way).
I don't think Maidana would even want the fight. Maidana is a very selective cherry picker. Always has been.
I also think, unless it's a massive fight, there is no way Maidana can motivate himself, and that I kinda think he's done as a fighter. Yea, he looked good against Floyd, but the dude has taken too long off, gotten too fat.
Hopefully, he can get his act together, and maybe get a Danny Garcia fight, like he supposedly wants. D. Garcia should take that fight, its a great fight for him style wise.

Maidana seems ripe for the picking coming off of two high paying super fights. Spence gets off first the entire fight and wins a surprisingly easy decision.
i want Spence to step up his comp, but i think fighting Chino right now would be too early in his career. I'd like to see hime fight Berto instead or a Soto-karass first then chino after that
