Why doesn't Floyd bet on himself?

Because it's illegal ... I'm pretty sure he has some of his acquaintances making decent size bets, nothing too big to tip anyone off though, at multiple books around the strip and sends them to collect the next day.... I'd be shocked if he didnt bet on himself on the Pacquiao fight once he saw how good the odds were.

He loves to gamble, especially on sports. So I wonder why he doesn't place large bets on himself when he fights. I bet he loses much more money than he wins

because he's the favorite and you loose money betting on the favorite even if you win its like paying to win. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong

He probably does bet on himself. There was an interview where FLoyd stated that he doesn't like to bet on other boxers because boxing is unpredictable & he used to lose a lot of money betting on boxing. He likes to bet on NBA games though.

It is perfectly legal in this country to make a legal bet on yourself and it's been done by professional boxers before. As to the OP's question, no one really knows if Floyd has ever bet on himself so it's an impossible question to answer. Well we're not all from the same country, here in England it's illegal. I'm glad it is too, if you bet on a specific round then you might lay off till that round and that screws everyone else who bet on you winning in a different round.

i think he bet on himself UD12 on the canelo fight hence him getting so pissed when they read the scorecards if i was a boxer id just bet a million on the other guy and take a dive ...genius

The only trouble I would see is if there was a chance they'd pay the other guy off to lose and he "threw" the fight. I know it's happened historically but now it seems like it's easy to find out if there was impropriety by either party. In short, if that were true, someone would end up talking about it and exposing it. well I know Hops bet $100k on himself, and was very public about it. And Nate Campbell bet heavily on himself in the Juan Diaz fight. Both guys did very well lol

Seriously? That's crazy and extremely dangerous. You cannot let a professional athlete bet on himself. It's not allowed in any other sport. why? as long as its a "win" bet, wheres the harm? Now if he bet himself to lose, or made proposition bets like KO7 or UD12, then thats a problem. But I fail to see the harm of a guy confident enough to wager money on a win.

I didn't waste my money on it, nor was I on here making predictions about it. I actually figured Mayweather would win. Notice you don't see me in any other threads thrashing Floyd. I actually think the man is the best boxer of his generation in his weight classes, and one of the best defensive fighters ever. You might want to stop making baseless assumptions. Pretty sure that's illegal. In this country it is I think. Haye was nearly in big trouble when he said he bet on himself to win by ko3 against Harrison. Not sure what the deal is in Yankistan
