For those of you who think that Pacquiao won 120-96 despite having his right arm amputated at the shoulder before the fight, this thread isn’t for you.
This was a huge week for the Mayweather Legacy. Before the fight Pacquiao’s side was talking about KOs and shutouts and how his killer instinct was going to take over. Mayweather displayed a quiet confidence and didn’t say too much. The fight was indeed not all that action packed, but it was a pure master class by Mayweather who controlled everything about the fight for 12 rounds. It was a 10-2 fight and that was better than a TKO for Mayweather, it showed the type of domination that left the world knowing that Pacquiao never had a chance vs. Mayweather no matter when they fought. It was not the fight the fans wanted, but it left no doubts as to who is head and shoulders the best fighter of this generation.
Now if that wasn’t good enough, the way that Pacquiao and his camp deceived before, during, or after the fight really puts the breakdown of negotiations years ago into a different light. Anyone with a brain knows that if Pacquiao had been hurt before or during the fight he and his corner would have been discussing it between rounds. Everyone also knows that immediately after the fight in the ring Pacquiao would have talked about his shoulder. It’s clear his whole camp is lying and it makes their version of the previous negotiation breakdowns even more unlikely. Not only did Mayweather beat Pacquiao in the ring, Pacquiao and his camp ruined their reputations outside of it. It was the complete and total destruction of Mayweather’s main rival from this era inside and outside of the squared circle. A more total victory could not have been imagined.
The week only got better as the PPV numbers began to materialize, this was an historic event and 5-6 million people bought the PPV as Floyd stands to walk with nearly $300 million.
This past Saturday was more good news for the Mayweather legacy as Canelo Alvarez laid waste to his opponent with a brutal knock out. Here was Canelo, a young bull who people said Floyd would never fight, looking like the beast that he is and looking like someone with a chance to be the premier boxer of the next decade. Mayweather’s schooling of Canelo is going to look better and better over the next decade. And with that, Floyd’s resume is complete; there really is nothing left for him to do in the ring. You can’t say he is missing any fighters on his card; anyone he didn’t get to fight was blasted by someone he did fight and school. Tszyu was mauled by Hatton, Margarito was destroyed by Mosely, Pacquiao, and Cotto etc. etc. He’s fought everyone he needed to fight and he’s rarely lost more than a couple rounds to anyone.
And the tone of the discussions surrounding him has changed in boxing fan circles. No longer is anyone comparing him to anyone else in this era, now it’s only Leonard, Hearns, and Hagler people are comparing him to. And no longer are they criticizing Floyd as much as they are criticizing this era. His place in history is assured whether you like him or not. It was a big week for Floyd and his legacy, a week that is bound to look bigger and bigger as time goes by.
Having a scorecard in the first instance in his sig when Hatton got KTFO'd is more than enough comedy.
You weren't around back then but this place was a pure trollfest and I was no exception, it was great fun and the build-up to Hatton-Mayweather was like no other.
Having said that, **** Joe Cortez he was no better than Lawrence Cole for Ricky Burns the other night.
I wouldn't be surprised if the entire remaining Pac legion is just 3 or 4 people with a bunch of alts sockpuppeting away. Look at spoon and adp, their posts are indistinguishable and avatars almost identical.
Although I doubt it's that bad, I know it'd shock the shit out of most of us if we found out :lol1:
Lying about what, picking Maidana and Canelo? I didn't even want the Maidana fight to be made. I wanted the Khan fight and I certainly didn't want the rematch. I didn't pick Canelo either, albeit it's a fight I never thought Floyd would take but that's not the same as picking him.
It's sad you have to get personal man. For what? having an opinion, I never said one thing to you yet you feel the need.
Edit: on your edit, I always said the catchweight didn't matter, Mayweather would've beat him at 154, too much of a gap in ability

Following Canelo's win over Trout. No shame Weebz.
They wouldn't dare expose this kind of stupidity outside these forums. On top of that we're dealing with alts, lots of them, in fact going into the fight I saw plenty of them who posted in the same style, we managed to catch a couple.

Think he had Hatton winning 5 rounds or more, it was a ridiculous amount. Think he had Canelo winning 5 rounds as well.

I have yet to see a Pacquiao fan say, "you know what, we lost the fight fair and square, Mayweather just looked like the much better boxer that night." That's what 99% of the viewing public who aren't Pac fans saw, why is that so hard to say?
Actually 99% of viewers were turned off by the dull spectacle of one guy chasing the other around the ring.
Mayweather won the fight, but so many of you can't leave it there, you have to say he won wide, he's so much better, Pacquiao's injury wasn't real etc. It's not enough just to have had the decision, you have to talk down the opponent.
lol and for all the talk of bitterness, no one does it better than Mayweather fans in thread after thread, and your guy won the damn fight.
IMO, Mayweather is easily the best of his generation but not the best of all time. I'll say he's the smartest of all time. But 25+ years from now, fans who never watched Floyd will watch videos of his fights and think wtf? He does win rounds and ultimately the fight but he hardly beats the crap out of opponent and in the end future generations won't consider him the greatest despite being undefeated. Hell, even now I don't know anyone that considers Marciano the greatest ever and he retired 49-0.
That's a fair opinion. His all time status will be debated for sure. But I think you miss the mark on his style, people aren't going to only watch 1 or 2 of his fights, but several, and he has in fact had some very exciting fights. While the Pacquiao and Oscar fights weren't all that exciting, the Hatton and the Cotto fights were. Even some of his famous blowouts (Gatti, Mosely, JMM, Canelo) were very entertaining and he punished those guys plenty. And the purists will also take into account his fights below 140 which were all pretty darned exciting.

Been a while since I've watched the Hatton fight but such a card from him doesn't surprise me. But Canelo winning 5? LOL.

What did he have it, again?
Those were the times on here man. Hilarious times. That build-up and 24/7 was pretty epic, man.

Just bitter as fuck. His scorecards in the Hatton/ Canelo fight were ridiculous as fuck and I'll never forget how he sigged that May-Hatton scorecard :lol1:

Naw Weebler, you have picked against Mayweather almost every single fight lol. It's not personal and I don't even think you're a bad guy. Just bitter lol.

Stop lying. You did and I'm not the only one who saw it.

They're stung. And mad when we come in Pacquiao threads and dougie around their sorry asses. Too bad. Shouldn't have acted like pieces of sh*t before.
Exactly. They can dish it out but can't take it back. All the years from people like Guerrero's Dad and his "Floyd fan Haymon black solidarity" speeches lol.
Yes, at every turn I'm going to light them up whenever their bitterness shines through.

Exactly. Now they want to just hurry up and move on. After the past 6 years? Please.
Take these L's.
Pac critic here I see, theres lots of them. As many as Floyd critics.
Pac was injured. And its not like he wanted to use it as a reason. He wanted to keep quiet about it, as people paid a lot of money to see the fight. He wanted to hide the fact that he was injured rather than sing it from the rooftops.
Stop making excuses.
I said the same thing before the fight. Some people even sais Manny would be top 3 if he won.But now they are indignant about rating Mayweather too high.
I also find it funny how people actually get angry when the topic of Mayweather comes up on a boxing website lol. People like Cupo will say " get over it" when he still hasn't gotten over Kovalev.
Biggest fight in perhaps history. I'm going to talk about. If they don't like it, kiss my ass lol.
The denial has reached unseen levels. Manny's fans are as poor of sports as he and his team are.
The fight happened, we all saw for ourselves that Mayweather is a much better boxer and was always a much better boxer. In 20 years Pacquiao will be mostly forgotten by boxing historians, Mayweather will still being debated against the likes of Leonard and Robinson.
These are hard truths for Pac fans to digest.
I didn't pick Canelo or Maidana. If you're going go down the road of personal attacks, at least get your facts together. Never pretended to be objective either, boxing is a very subjective sport, everyone has a leaning one way or the other.
Stop lying. You did and I'm not the only one who saw it. You even said the only way Canelo loses is if he's "drained." A built-in excuse before the fight even started.
