You had a ring in the middle of your neighborhood that could be used at all hours of the night? Where'd you grow up at? So if it was 8 or 9pm and you and your friends start play fighting you would all stop at that point, call your parents, arrange a car pool and head over to the nearest boxing gym?
Something about that scenario is not adding up...
What really happens and has been happening for generations is if you and your friends were playing around you would set up some ground rules (you didn't want to hurt your friend) and you would say something like ok "if your throwing a shot to my face it has to be open handed, to the body anything goes and obviously nothing below the belt and no wrestling" ... And that's how slap boxing was born. I honestly don't think you ever slap boxed as a kid or even boxed at all based on that stupid ass comment.
We'd rope off the yard, or the sidewalk and box. If we didn't have gloves then sure we'd have some rules. But, to associate that into some sort of appreciation of Floyd or something--it's nonsense. So that's what I'm talking about. And, I've been boxing my whole life. I'm not one of these netexperts, posting pundit, or phony bologna dude. I take it seriously. So, don't play yourself. I get what you're saying, but I don't see how this is associated with Floyd. This board has this neurosis that leads all their limited knowledge back to Floyd. Give me a break. I was boxing before I knew of Floyd. Most of these rooks only like boxing because of floyd
Uh, in my neighborhood we just got in the ring. This slap boxing nonsense is one the lamest things I've read on here for months (next to Pac fans defending all of his loses with excuses, Floyd fans thinking he's tbe, and euro boxing fans acting like we care)

Slap boxing was a good way to learn how to fight as a kid or at the very least keep your skills sharp. I did it a bunch when I was younger and I'm sure most people growing up in neighborhoods similar to mine:.. Don't mind the nerds on here who are unfamiliar with the term.

I bet you dislike holding too. Unless Ricky Hatton is doing it of course...
Hatton was in boring fights too. Were white people supposed to pretend to be entertained because they held and hit each other in the streets growing up?
You see how ludicrous it sounds?
Look Floyd's a great fighter, boxing fans can appreciate what he does even if it isn't entertaining.
Non-boxing fans, irrespective of race, just aren't going to have that appreciation because they don't fully understand it and they're going to express their views on what they see regardless of their ethnicity.
Why does it matter to the author that black people don't like watching Mayweather fight? Are white people supposed to like watching Algieri and Malignaggi? or latinos supposed to like watching Vasquez and Abril?
This guy should just understand people want to be entertained no matter what their ethnicity.

if i tried "slapping" in a fight where i grew up id die pretty fast
oh you mushy muricans... and this myth that the bored government freeloader side of town epitomizes "realness"
