Great. Good luck with the rest of your life, champ. He's been a consistently exciting fighter for several years and seems like a good guy as well. There's no need to see the hollow shell we saw against Cotto in the ring again.
Great career and wish him well. Think he should take a farewell fight though against an easy opponent, just so his last minutes in the ring aren't from the Cotto fight.
He said he was going to wait to hear what his doctors had to say but either way he has to go through half a year of therapy and time is not on his side.
I wish him a long and healthy life.
people still to this day pretend martinez was healthy when he fought cotto, they also pretend compubox is accurate. they love their myths what can you say
Yup reality & critical thinking is like poison for those type of "hardcore" fans.

A true fighter. Always represented the sport with class.
Good luck Sergio.

Cashed out with blown knees nothing else to do here good on him.
Sergio wasn't 100% but it had no difference on the outcome. It was the same as the Floyd/Manny fight, his shoulder had no effect on the outcome. Manny could throw punches, Martinez could move and walk/run.
That's weird because according to Puerto Ricans he was in his prime and 100% healthy when Cotto beat him. So strange he went to prime to shot old man with blown out knees in a year. Crazy stuff.
Cotto defied the odds .. Literally... He was the underdog, a pretty significant one at that. There are quite a few pre fight threads on the subject and NSB Had Serg winning and in most peoples minds by KO, myself included.
He deserves whatever credit he got for that win ... Most of you won't give it to him but had GGG gotten the opportunity to batter Martinez I believe people would be singing a different tune...

1. He shouldn't have talked a bunch of sh1t for no reason.
2. Yall shouldn't have said Cotto had no chance yall are the ones who looked like dumb asses after the fight.
Hand one of the greatest "Second Wind" Run In Boxing History!
After Antonio Margarito beat him, Sergio Martinez disappeared for years then popped up again only because Paul Williams picked him as a replacement for Kelly Pavlik then after that fight everything just finally took off for him. Sucks that it happened for him so late in his career. Great Run Though! I think that run probably makes him Hall Of Fame Worthy At Least!
