Mayweather and Pacquiao are almost gone, same with Cotto. Who will be the next fighters to carry boxing and be the superstars?
I'd say Canelo, GGG, Lomachenko, Wilder and maybe Thurman and Kovalev.
What do you guys think? Can these guys become superstars? Anyone else that you guys think so?
Sometimes he looks like a top tier prospect however I'm still unconvinced about him, because he pretty much struggled with Martirosyan and got dropped by him. To be fair so far every fighter struggled against Vanes but Andrade's W was at least not controversial like Charlo's, in fact I think that Charlo lost but the judges saw otherwise... Charlo fell out from my top prospect list with that fight I'm curious if his brother will be any better than him.
Vanes is a tough win for anyone at 154 and honestly Andrade handled him pretty easily outside that early knock down. I had the Charlo fight 115-113 for Charlo, but that was one of them fights that pretty much a close decision for either guy or a draw and I would'nt of been upset. For me if Vanes had stayed committed to the body punches in the middle rounds the way he did early, he would of won the fight.
I'm also not 100% sold on Andrade either but that is simply because he needs to get his ass active, even if he is just disposing of a few bums while waiting for a good fight. I think most people would see Lara/Andrade/Canelo(assuming he can make the weight) are pretty much the top dogs at 154 with the Charlo twins being wild cards.
Most of the usual suspects have been mentioned. Suprised no one brought up Andrade though. I mean the kids got the size and skills. Even though he boxes he is a high volume puncher with pretty good power as well. He likes to talk and when he is'nt whining about people not fighting him he is charasmatic as well. Kid just needs to get active and I think he could be a superstar.

The top HW's post-Klitschko are already going to draw imo. Viewing figures are always decent for HW's and I think the public is crying out for some drama. The next era will be fun.
Naoya Inuoe if he carries on the same track will be a superstar in Japan. If he starts getting P4P recognition he could maybe end up a star all over Asia.
Verdejo is getting a lot of hype and PR's have a built in fanbase. Same with Oscar Valdez. A lot depends on how they progress.
Canelo is basically already there.
If GGG can get hold of Canelo and beat him and a few others I think Golovkin can be a moderately big star.
I'm not sold on Lomachenko as a draw yet. If he ends up being a completely dominant P4P no.1 climbing through the divisions he can be a star with the right opponents.
Lets just wait and see. After how much money everyone just made from boxing I'm hoping networks and promoters will be salivating looking to build and control the careers of the next superstars.
There are a lot of potential stars floating around at the moment. Some of them will rise to the top.
OK, if Ward can stop Kovalev and Beterbiev and GGG I will say that he will draw in the fans. But there is as much chance of that as there is of my seeing a flying cow today. Ward taking out Kovalev and Beterviev! Oh man, what kind of drugs are you on??? He might take them out for dinner but that would be about it. :nutkick:
ward has wins over amateurs who beat beterbiev. usyk, too.
i'd have to do some digging to see if he beat anybody who beat kovalev.
it looks pretty dim, honestly.
canelo is going to remain a star. dude has all of the qualities ot make for a successful PPV boxer. he's got a crowd pleasing style, charisma, and he's mexican.
kovalev and golovkin are old. they don't speak great english, and don't have a built in ethic fanbase, like the pinoys, mexicans, black americans, etc.
wilder's just not that good. at least not yet. he's got a lot going for him, but i can't see him getting to the top and staying there.
Canelo for sure because he has that Mexican Fanbase
Deontay Wilder can be huge because he fills a void in America which is a Heavyweight In Shape and can knock people the fuk out.
Tyson Fury is the only Heavyweight with a personality and the skills to back it up
Others already mentioned I agree with: GGG, Thurman, Crawford, Verdejo, Anthony Joshua
I will add Ward only because I think Ward vs GGG and Ward vs Kovalev would be huge match ups. Ward vs DeGale if he beats Dirrell and continues to win could be HUGE. Also Ward vs Beterbeiv in the future could be huge. People talking about Ward not a Draw but him being away allowed for HBO to build up some new Boogymen around his Division. He can build up his legacy off of taking them out!
i really don't see ward as a draw, he isn't one now, and he's been inactive and isn't super young anymore. His fighting style is boring and so is his personality.
Yes if he beats these boogeymen then sure he could become a star, but I don't see ward rushing in to take any risks with these guys like kovalev and beterbiev because for some reason his inflated ego tells himself he is bigger and better than they are and doesn't need to move up to face them
The Light Heavyweight division is going to be stacked in a few years. That's why I don't mind if these fights don't happen right away because some of these guys need a little more seasoning in the pros.
But you have Kovalev, Stevenson, Beterbiev, Ward (who could move up), maybe some other 168 pounders, Gvozdyk, Mekhontsev.
My favorite of the Bunch is definitely Beterbiev. A lot of people might be sleeping on Gvozdyk, who is a tremendous fighter with good power and is a good looking kid. What worries me is that he is with Top Rank and I'm not sure if they are promoting his career the right way. He should be able to step up another level by now. He should also stay more acitve (I heard he recently got injured which prevented him from fighting last month), but this kid will be something in the future.
The Middle/Light middleweight division also looks good. You have GGG, Canelo, Cotto. All three who should be fighting each other within the next year or so. The Light middleweight division is full with several American contenders, I hope they fight each other though, the best of the bunch to me is Andrade but he isn't fighting so idk.

Vasyl Lomachenko, GGG, Artur Beterbiev, Sergey Kovalev, Jose Ramirez, Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Oleksandr Usyk, Naoya Inoue, Oscar Valdez, Dmitry Kudryashov, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, Terence Crawford, Canelo, Chocolatito, Juan Francisco Estrada.
Yeah the future is bright. My favorite is without a doubt Lomachenko, beautiful style to watch imo.
