When historians look back for an event that encapsulates our era they will find the ‘Fight of the Century’, an overblown drama in which ‘Money’ Mayweather – a man from a country, culture and century that prioritises the aggressive, relentless pursuit of profit above all else – defeated an injured opponent for $300m

The most renowned, and greatest newspaper on the planet, the Guardian, has tore Mayweather a new one. Saying his victory over Pacquiao, is tainted and will be remembered poorly against him.
Seems like Mayweather didn't get any fans, only people who believe that he is a boring fraud, who is just an expert cherry picker.
Poor Floyd, everyone hates him. He has no friends. He has to pay strippers and his entourage to hangout with him. I feel sorry for him.
Even the paper of record, the Guardian is destroying poor Floyd.
Most people???? you mean the bais brothas and sistas.
look at this sh1t!
THis is sadly what everyone remembers of Floyd from now on. And expert hugger at the right times.
While, the remembered great fighters, actually preferred to fight, and throw punches. At least, sometimes. Unfortunately, Floyd doesn't care about boxing or about his fans. He hates and despises his fans, by his own admission.
These losers have put their lives on the line just to say #48 won last week and with one arm at that.
This is almost better than free WiFi.
:lol1: :lol1:
Like I said before th fight it does nothing for eithers legacy. It took place 3-5 years too late. Floyd won and would beat even a healthy manny.
It's sad to see both fan boys acting like Floyd beat a prime manny or PAC would have done better without a "shoulder" injury. Floyd fighting GGG for the MW strap does way more for his legacy than fighting a faded manny.
Have you been reading all the major news sites? Most have said people don't want a rematch and have called Mayweather best of the era. He doesn't need Pacquiao.
:bounce:

History will have Mayweather rated around Pernell Whitaker.
Both have outstanding defensive styles and both great boxers.
However, Mayweather will be known as one of the top 5 cherry pickers of all time especially if he doesn't face Thurman or Brook next. (The top potential welters Floyd can face is pretty clear). If he doesn't face Thurman or Brook, he'll be known as an infamous CHERRYPICKER forever.
Loooooooool. Thurman? Brook? Looooooool.

The war is over pac lost let's move on....
Yes, I know Pac lost. Floyds sstill got his zero. But the win is more than tainted so Floyd cant move on. Floyd is a proud man and wont be comfortable with that.
Its ok for you to move on, but Floyd cant.
indeed. hardcore fans acknowledge all that floyd brings, they know...they want to see it put into use, for him to rise to the occassion and IF FOR ONLY ONE NIGHT, come out and do the damn thing.
hardcore fans know he is in the middle of a guaranteed contract and thats why he plays it even more safe than usual..hard core fans looked passed it in hopes that maybe, just maybe this dude was saving himself for a cherry on the top performance, a real showstopper against pac. nope, just more par for the course stuff.
embarrassment to his talent
Guess we have to agree to disagree... I think you just want him to be something he isn't.
"Hardcore" and "casuals" both want to see the same thing, a good fight.
The only people who honestly enjoy what Floyd does are guys who are into him as a person and watch his 247/all access episodes and memorize what cars he has and live vicariously through him.
They are neither hardcore fight fans nor casual fight fans, they are the same bottom dwellers who "keep up with the karshindiaidans" and have MTV Cribs on DVD.
It's a total myth that "hardcore fans" enjoy boring ride-the-grey-in-the-rulebook-to-a-decision fighters anymore then casuals do.

Your right but casuals dont watch boxing regularly and never will.. So who really cares?

Note that I am not criticizing his skills... I even agreed that he probably has more raw skill than Ali and got attacked for it. But pretending he will be remembered as anything other than a painfully boring fighter who hung out with Justin Bieber and abused women is wishful thinking. He has very few memorable in-ring moments.
If Floyd don't beat Pac legitimately history wont be kind to Floyd. But if Floyd rematches and beats Pac, people will presume Floyd might very well have beaten Pac even if he didn't have an injury in the first fight. But first he must rematch and beat Pac. Its very important for Floyd. That's unfortunate, but you have to be honest.
Floyds still got his zero, but he didn't beat Pac the other day. I don't know who would win if Pac had two arms, that s why they have to fight again. Its important to Floyd he rematches Pac as the fight is more than tainted. Its beyond that. It didn't happen is more accurate.

fight of the century below.
Wheres your proof Tyson used steroids? Don't matter, they are still in halls of boxing gods and legends, and have their fights till this day on repeat on ESPN.
You think anyone is going to be watching Floyd Mayweather fights? You think outside of the Philipines the common person in Asia knows or cares about Mayweather? Hell no. But everyone knows Tyson, because he was exciting.
Being impressive, is being impressive. Floyd won, but he had an injured opponent, and still didn't go for the kill.
Mayweather is a much better boxer than Tyson...Buster Douglas beat the **** out of prime Tyson. I could care less who's more known through out the world. Why do you care?
Tyson and Holyield are terrible examples because they abused steroids. Why do you care what casuals think?

No thats a bad comparison.
It's like someones few introductions to NBA. Do you show them Tim Duncun, or Jason Kidd, or do you show them Michael Jordan or any other exciting baller?
Floyd is a pure technician, and those sorts of fighters, who are also not aggressive have always been boring boxing, and he could've taken more chances, tried to hurt Pac, and finish him off. But he did the smart thing, in a way. Smart just to win, but not smart for history, his legacy, or for boxing. This was his shot to be written into the history books, but he's so obsessed with being smart in the ring, he missed his shot at true greatness.
Holyfield, Tyson, Ali, those 80s middleweights, all took chances, and captured our imaginations. Floyd bored the world on boxing's biggest stage. You don't realise how much the casuals think Floyd is a pathetic coward who ran and hugged the whole fight.
Floyd could've done more, he made a huge blunder.

Fighting ain't really a sport. Boxing is a sport. And in boxing you can do more things than just hit the guy while standing in one spot.
Like I said go create a just fighting sport if you don't like boxing. I ain't trying to get basketball players to only be able to dunk to score points. I just watch the slam dunk competition & say eff the NBA cuz its boring to me. Its okay if you just find boxing boring. Nothing wrong with that.
