Was there really that much holding through the fight?

I did the compuclinch and there was appx 13 clinches in this fight.

now this is clinching too much..

My stance on clinching has stayed the same throughout the years. It shold be penalized because: 1 IF A fighter gets trapped against the ropes, it should be his job to work his way out again. 2. Clinching every time a fighter traps you against the ropes is cheap exploitation, the REF does the work for you and BAILS you out. It is not his job to bail him out, that is for the fighter. they go together, but specifically number two, if the ref bails you out, the fighter who had to work for his position is f@ked every time, his work is undone intentionally by forcing the ref to reset both the fighters, recreating the same distance he now has to rework his way inside, again. Rinse and repeat? It's a loophole withing the rule book. you can't be a boxing fan and see nothing wrong with this.

I thought it was decent without too much holding or clinching, it was a cleaner fight than I thought it would be... No excuses.

What i was thinking....Floyd barely clinched......and MAnny is not an inside fighter anyway......not like he was gonna work on the inside.....he was just gonna back up then wait to flurry/counter again

Why change the subject? Matthysse wasn't in that fight from what I can recall. I'm not quite as irritated with Floyd as Daggum is but I won't say he's wrong here. He's got an entirely legit argument. Matthysse would throw his punches and then hold Provodnikov once Provodnikov got into punching range. My point is some holding is going to happen but there wasn't a lot like a Wlad fight, not even close. I would ask you to watch Matthysse/Provodnikov and then watch Mayweather/Pacquaio. What's difference in the holding? I don't even criticize Matthysse for it. He fought an excellent fight.

For a fight of that profile, there was a disappointing amount of clinching. Very noticeable because of the fact that it was avoidable and simply used to stifle the action. This coming from one of the sites biggest Klitschko fans!?!? :lol1: Get a grip mate.

Indeed. When Wlad does it, it's because he's a "boring coward who is making a mockery of the sport". For Mayweather, it's part of his "brilliance". Granted, I appreciate both guys and am mildly tolerant of their BS because it's part of their chess game . But, these hypocritical fans that praise one and not the other are only fooling themselves. chess game? if you are doing a chess analogy it would be like floyd having the ability to move his pawns back and forth while the other guy has to play under the standard rules. it would be like floyd's knight being able to jump 3 spaces while the other guy only can jump 2. in order to lose that game you would have to commit a horrible mistake. if you just play safe you would win every time. just like floyd plays safe and wins every time. he's not playing under the same rules as everyone else. either are wlad or ward. guys like pac, golovking, and kovalev are playing under the rules and dominating...oh and would you look at that they are also entertaining! what a surprise! unfortunately boxing has selected the boring cheater guys to represent their sport and hence you have a fringe sport.

Not at all, I've seen the highlights and not much of it on there. you do realize in the gif in your signature floyd committed 2 fouls in under 5 secs right? but he didn't cheat much right? it was just great defense right?

Very noticeable because of the fact that it was avoidable and simply used to stifle the action. but floyd doesn't want action that's the whole point! he wants to use his reach advantage and then stop the action when someone else gets close enough to hit him. too bad a lot of people that watched the fight now think cheating=boxing. its a shame they couldn't watch a good fight with no cheating like kovalev-pascal instead of floyd making boxing look bad.
