Boxing fans had to wait years before Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao clashed in a ring. They may not have to wait quite as long to see the rematch if it takes place.
Despite Pacquiao being expected to miss anywhere between four and 12 months due to shoulder surgery, per Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times and Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Mayweather reportedly texted ESPN's Stephen A. Smith on Tuesday, stating he would be willing to fight Pac-Man again when he's healthy, per SportsCenter on Twitter.
It is unclear what venue the event would be held at, though Stephanie Smith of the New York Post reported the MGM Grand is backing away from hosting the potential rematch:
The proposed rematch of the welterweights was going to be timed to the opening of the MGM Grand’s new $375 million, 20,000-seat arena in May 2016. The first big event at the venue will be a concert by an unspecified artist, and the Mayweather-Pacquiao matchup would have come next.

Please...He was hoping for rematch mega payday before the fight...of course he would like it to still come off. Even if he makes 1/2 as much in a rematch...he'd love it. This is why nothing serious will result in all the talk of suspensions fines and lawsuits. They will let this all settled down...swept it under the rug and then rekindle the hype. Whoever thought Chavez Jr would draw interest again after the Martinez loss...but given a little time to settle down and people forget and the hype started all over again...and Chavez Jr has much less talent than Manny Pacquiao nor the interest from a Floyd Mayweather.
I personally have little interest in a rematch...but although I hate to admit it...I'd watch it just the same and who won't if you think about it. I don't but PPV's anyways.
lol I've seen talk of a rematch in some other threads and there are a lack of people who admit they'd watch it. I was a little upset about paying cover to see it but I ain't trippin, I'd watch it again. They better not give us a dud undercard again tho. Cruz vs Lomachenko would have been more appropriate than those two fights were and then they could have made another solid matchup.
I like Floyds attitude here, and he understands Pacs injury was real and unfortunate. Floyd probably respects Pac in a way, as Floyd probably knows he wouldn't risk his zero if he were in the same position as Pac.
Well, we know Floyd wouldn't.

They better price the ppv at $5. That's the only way i'm paying for "the scam of the century 2".
you know I was actually thinking about this and the only way they can salvage the event/hype/historic feel etc is if they just have the rematch on national tv for free.
Of course let the boxers get paid, how they make that money up to them, advertisers, etc etc.
Imagine that no one really care about a rematch that much, they want it just cause why not but do we really need or care to see not so much. but if it was free all the eyes who watched it the first time and got turned off and most likely wont order a rematch will come back and watch it if it was free.

Manny needs to retire. Even if he does heal what make them think he won't injure something else during training camp? He's old more injuries are gonna happen
