I don't care much for Floyd, though I used to be a fan of his a few years ago (don't enjoy watching him fight now)
With that said, I think this dude can beat GGG
He clearly hasn't lost his legs, seems he just chooses when to use them, that kind of lateral movement without any certain rhythm, with a large ring like last night, would make it very very difficult for GGG to land anything big on him
I'm not one of those people who thinks the size disparity would make that much of a difference in this fight, Floyd is a pretty big 147 (I can't think of anybody at 147 who's clearly bigger than Floyd is, key word being "Clearly")
I'd love to see this fight, beating GGG would be easily the biggest win of his career without a doubt
GGG is my 2nd fav fighter right now, so I'm being painfully honest here even for my own good lol
Could actually end up being a horrible spectacle of a fight. No doubt that Mayweather would have to run like the wind for 12 rounds to have a chance of going through the fight on one piece. There will be ZERO intent from Mayweather to engage for even a few seconds. So we will see FM fighting at his most defensive running best.
Now is it possible for him to "tap and run" round after round? The answer is yes. Odds are that GGG will eventually catch him and drop him but it's also very possible that FM will run successfully for 12 rounds in a snooze fest. And in all fairness who can blame him? It would be so different than putting GGG in the ring with Klitschko...
Don't want to see this.
Floyds ability to fight at whatever range he wants coupled with his defense shows me that unless floyd gets caught with something stupid which rarely happens, he has the tools to win this fight
people saying ggg would just walk through floyds punches. lol
Floyd doesnt have insane power but he has enough to make anybody from 140 to 160 think twice about being overly aggressive
Floyd vs GGG fight night weights would be about 15-18lbs apart. just like the Canelo fight.
he could win this fight. no doubt in my mind.
You're crazy. Mayweather's power would be nonexistent to Golovkin. He walks through a hell of a lot harder punches than anything Mayweather could hit him with.
Unless Golovkin was a total weight drained zombie, he should beat floyd... I don't care how good floyd is, they have weight classes for a reason, and this fight would show why..
Why are you more convinced of it now?
few reasons. one being floyd still has insane reflexes. another is that GGG is still green if you look at his resume. hes not fought anybody even half as talented as floyd. also floyd seems to do better as the smaller guy.
just so people don't think i'm trolling, you can dig up some of my older posts saying that I thought Floyd could give GGG a competitive fight, I'm just more convinced of it now
Why are you more convinced of it now?
Stop it because you embarrass yourself. I get that Golovkin and Kovalev are popular here and Ward is not popular but I would be glad if you would be jut a little more objective.
First: compare their resumes. Who's the best? Ward's.
Second: Ward's punching power is clearly enough to make his opponents think twice. He has a head snapping jab and while he isn't a KO artist, his punches are enough to keep his opponents back. Froch is a tough mf-er but he still couldn't walk down Ward, in fact Ward bullied him all night. Bika is another tough mf-er and he also couldn't walk him down. And the head butt whining is so woeful. It's literally only because of the Kessler fight, but if I can refresh your memory, Ward had other fights as well and he didn't head butt on them...
Ward is just technically superior to Golovkin and Kovalev, I don't care how many amateur fights Golovkin had (I'm noteven say that he isn't skilled) I just simply watched their fights. Both of them and I saw that Ward is more fast and more skilled than Golovkin and Kovalev.
I don't even understand why the Ward fans have to explaining things. He was inactive but his resume is still easily better than Golovkin's and also better than Kovalev's. He is a more accomplished fighter and he is even younger than GGG.
I think he would beat them, by a wide points margin. Look, I just wrote it, and you can do nothing to change my opinion. Get over it and don't diss my favourite fighters with no real cause at all because if someone do so I will defend them.
How do you know what Ward is like today? The last time he had a decent fight was Froch WAY BACK IN 2011!!! If you remove the Super Six from his resume, and the two drained LHWs he fought most recently, his resume sucks sewer water. It is absolute crap! I don't know who ANY of those fighter are and if I had not read their names on Ward's resume I still would never have heard of them.
Ward fans have to keep explaining things because their fave fighter has been sitting on his ass for the last 17 months. He has done nothing! He has had TWO FIGHTS IN THREE YEARS!!! The guy is a bench sitter and should have stayed as a commentator instead of embarrassing himself fighting an empty can on BET of all networks. If he doesn't KTFO this guy inside 4 rounds and have to go to a decision, he should retire.
As for dissing your fave fighters in your sig, all I was doing was stating a FACT. None of them are ATG quality or HOF quality at this point in their careers. Who knows... maybe somewhere down the line Ward may fight both of his 'brothers', the Dirrells, to stake his claim at SMW again. Maybe he will move up to LHW and beat Stevenson, Kovalev and Beterbiev. Then again, maybe Smith will beat him on BET and he will retire and never be heard from again.
Who knows?
Do you actually think that after 350 amateur fights and 32 pro fights that GGG has not seen just about every boxing style there is? And defeated them all? Neither Lara, Floyd nor Ward have the power to dissuade GGG from walking them down and picking them apart. Find me someone with their style and Lemieux's power and we have a discussion. Until then, I see them falling one after the other against GGG.
Ward would beat Golovkin, don't think it would even be that competitive.
nowhere did I demand this fight. thats just you being a fanboy jumping to conclusions.
No, it was a misunderstanding. I actually didn't think of you but I saw comments what demanded him to fight GGG, I don't know yet if here or somewhere else.
How would Ward make GGG or Kovalev think twice? Certainly not with his punching power which is non existent. Would he head butt them to death? Clinch and lean in for a kiss? Highly doubtful as his head would be met with deadly force on the way in. There is nothing Ward has that would be able to 'dismantle' either Golovkin or Kovalev. Ward's only chance of a win would be to try a hit and run style like Floyd and that would not work against fighters who would simply walk right through his punches and walk him down.

Damn..no shit. When did that fight happen.
That's Doran Vs Hagglers right. I heard about them one time.
I also heard a rumour about a guy called Louis Armstrong who jumped up a division or two back in the day.
Please teach me some more on Boxing history. :wank:
GGG is not just big, he's got buckets of skill also.
A natural 147'er going up to face the top guy at 160 is asking to much IMO. GGG's punches will hurt guys at 168.

youve not seen GGG fight anybody with half the ring intelligence of Mayweather. Its gonna take more than brute force/cutting the ring off to beat this guy
until I see GGG beat somebody convincingly like Lara or Ward, theres no reason to assume Floyd coyldnt out skill him over 12 rounds.

If GGG were a true welterweight maybe. GGG is just too big, coupled with his serious punch(a great punch even for middleweight), good jab, cuts off ring well, counters the jab well, and isnt afraid to take a shot to give his own.
I don't see how he could run for 12 rounds.
That being said, Floyd doesn't and probably shouldn't fight GGG. He's just too big.

well when he said he stood and fought maidana to give fans more action people joked about it and didnt believe him. saying that he has lost his legs. he said in the rematch he could just box like he normally does and win more easily then went ahead and did it. then people said he was boring and not worth watching. im pretty sure floyd can still move if he wants to, golovkin can hurt him but im not sure if he can definitely find him. i think ggg would win but i dont think it would be a ko, something more like kovalev over hopkins but with floyd actually winning some rounds.
I don't believe he was entirely honest with the stand and fight thing. I think Floyd just adjusted to him like he does everyone, we saw it in the latter rounds of the first fight. It's why it was a foregone conclusion that the second fight would fare worse than the first for Maidana. Once Floyd's got your number, it's over.
I also believe Maidana didn't want it as bad in the second fight. He seemed almost resigned to the loss. His gameplan wasn't as good, he seemed to have come in in worse shape as well.

And Floyd never fought anyone with GGG's power, footwork, pressure and size.
No. GGG would dismantle Floyd. He's big and slow, but he's a great fighter. He can cut the ring like nobodies business and doesn't need much steam on his punches to knock a guy down or even out. He'll wreck Floyd's small frame. Floyd can try to potshot all he wants but he will eventually get cornered and hammered like never before. GGG by stoppage.
And let's not clamor for Floyd to fight some big guy from two weight classes above him. The man is 38 and at the end of his career. He doesn't have the passion anymore and he admits it over and over. He's beat the guys people wanted to see him fight with the exception of only a few guys. Let him ride off into the sunset and retire with a nice farewell fight in September.

However I think a fighter with similar style as Mayweather but in bigger size, I mean Andre Ward would beat Golovkin and also Kovalev on a same one sided fight as May beat Pac this weekend. He would dismantle them and make them think twice before they throw. But first I want to see him bounce back after the long lay off I think this one Paul Smith fight will be enough for him to do it.

Let's see what he does against Smith. Anything less than an early round KO means Ward should remain very far from either GGG or Kovalev for the foreseeable future.
