I think the biggest thing stopping this fight from happening is the money, with Maypuss already making close to 200 million dollars on this, surely he would want a larger stake and he'd make Pacquiao take half of what he made now. BUT and this is a huge but, if the financials could be ironed out, what do you guys think are the merits of a rematch?
A) Does Pacquiao deserve it?
B) Can there be rematches to fights which were largely one sided and on such a large scale?
C) Have there been such rematches in the past?
... Even if injured, Pac should have died in the ring trying to out-volume and outbrawl Floyd... But Pac didn't show enough heart and disposition to take the dramatic risks required in such an historic fight...
... I highly doubt that Pac & team are able to build some momentum over the shoulder injury -- as they didn't announced it beforehand...
Agreed entirely, punked out shoulder or not, Pacquiao didn't want to engage, he let millions of Phillipinos down.
Does Cotto get credit over whipping one legged Sergio? Get the **** outta here. Pac was a shadow of his former self.
True.
I will not pay for another Manny fight after he shamefully and disgracefully didn't come to fight in this fight.
No rematch is needed. Manny should fight Provo from Macau on HBO to at least give fans something they don't have to buy on PPV.
Why did you pick Provo? Why not Mathysse?

Why were people expecting anything different when Manny fought a bigger, stronger, faster, smarter, version of Marquez?
OF COURSE. There HAS to be. Manny fought with one arm. floyd knows this and he is bothered that many thought Pac won with a BROKEN arm/shoulder. As Holyfield and Mosley saw it, Pacquiao won... again, with one arm. I guarantee, Pac with two arms ends floyd in 4.

"From a boxing point of view, Pacquiao doesn't deserve it, he simply wasn't good enough. Mayweather is just better than him and that's all there is to it."
THIS!
There could be, and I would be game to see it again and see what could possibly be different/confirm what we saw Saturday...But I really doubt there will be another. The casuals, and a lot of real fans, would hesitate greatly before buying this again...If they would at all. The fight they just had was held on such a huge pedestal that a rematch could never equal. Never. Not after how it went down.
Theoretically if they went again and Manny won, a third fight would be bigger than the first as it would be one a piece and everyone would lap it all up again. But the possibility of a second fight right now would have a lot of people very hesitant to go for it.
The only real claim to a rematch being needed is Manny's injury, but as of yet we have not had big enough evidence to tell us that they need to go again, and because of that a rematch would be INCREDIBLY hard to sell.

It won't do anywhere close to the same numbers. The skill level was too wide and everyone saw that apart from a few emotionally scarred Pacquiao fans. It wasn't a competitive fight and it'll be even worse for Pacquiao next time round.
If there is a rematch, he deserves like a 90/10 split. Seriously.
Floyd don't give a shizz if it makes dollars it makes sense, he's leaving after september so if they do the math and realise it's the most lucrative fight they'll take it.
Release the MRI results and we're ready to market the rematch :boxing:
I say no because there's no need or a demand for it. Floyd won this fight going away. He was the hands down winner. What was was so revealing is that Money was more dominating and impressive in this bout against Pac then he ever was in his two bouts with Marcos Maidana.
IMHO, El Chino showed more signs of life and spirit in there against Mayweather than Manny Pacquiao ever did. Moreover, judging by their body languages, Marcos just seemed to have wanted it a lot more than Manny Pacquiao.
He constantly penned Floyd against the ropes and threw large volumes of punches against him while Pac did not. On the other hand, Manny would just simply back away whenever he hurt Mayweather along the ropes.
The media seem stop be calling for Amir Khan next, I think Keith Thurman would be the best at promoting a fight against Floyd, and I believe Miguel Cotto would be intriguing for Floyd since he could win the lineal Middleweight championship but I believe Cotto has a guarantee to fight Canelo in his deal.
LOL. There is no way there is going to be a rematch for a number of reasons!
1. The people don't want it. I think the general consensus, is that the fight stunk. How would the second time around be any different?
2. Less money. This stems from reason number 1. A rematch is very likely to be less popular. It would do less numbers, would get less media exposure, ticket prices would be way less, and the purses would be way less.
3. The fight wasn't close enough to warrant a rematch. Manny didn't show me that he can make it competitive in a rematch. If anything, it would probably be more one sided in all honesty.
4. Probably the biggest reason, Mayweather doesn't want the rematch. Mayweather has 1 more fight left according to him. He's old. Maybe if he was younger he would entertain the idea of a rematch just for the sake of proving his win wasn't a fluke, but there's less time now. He wants new meat in front of him. Plus he knows a rematch doesn't bring in money. It wouldn't be smart business and Mayweathers all about smart business.
I don't know why this is even a thread. It's a stupid thread there's nothing to even discuss.
PAC would have to take a severe pay cut which I'm sure being the man of god and charitable guy that fights for his people I'm sure he would be open too ... Unless of course that was all BS and he's just like every other boxer ever and cares about his money.
Floyd would also be making significantly less. I honestly think the only real money out there for Floyd right now is him trying to win the middleweight belt against Cotto but that doesn't make much sense seeing how he's giving his belts up tomorrow. Or him and Khan. I hate Khan as a fighter but he does (for whatever reason have a following).
If I had my day it'd be Brook to unify all the belts but again he's getting rid of the belts anyway.
Could just be a soft touch to retire though... And I wouldn't blame him for that I think he's earned it. I'm sure most would agreed though.
I don't think they can. People feel duped for yesterday. Waiting 6 years, having an infinite number of debates, and shelling out $100 for a fight that produced little if any memorable moments? There's no way the public goes for it again.
Only hardcore Floyd & Manny fans would buy a rematch.
agree even if manny was injured, I don't think people would fall for that.
the general public would just say "they trying to fool us into a rematch"
at this point a cotto/floyd rematch would probably outsell a floyd/manny rematch
maybe it can sell if the rematch was on network tv?
