Lomachenko is a master at his craft, and is a thing of beauty to watch. The sky is the limit for him. When he starts speaking english, he will transcend into the upper echelons of the sport. He is simply a phenom. I don't see anybody beating him at any point. Salido is lucky he fought him so green, and got away with fouling the entire night. That will never happen again in Lomachenko's career.
But Donaire was moving up in weight, right? Loma is a real 126 pounder... Walters has serious power no doubt, but Loma has incredible defense let's not forget...
If I were Arum, I would make this fight ASAP before Walters vanishes under the protective umbrella of Haymon forever.
Agree, hope this fight will happen this year.

He definitely is a handful for anyone at or near his weight class. I really like his angles of attack, they are not predictable at all. That and his natural reflexes and speed, are fun to watch.
What impresses me the most about him though, is he has the Floyd like ability to know what his opponent is going to do before they actually do it. Very high ring IQ and Awareness.
Lomachenko is amazingly talented. I also think he handles Walters...and I'm a big fan of Walters too.
But will Walters' team want the fight? Walters is compromoted by Top Rank and Leon Margules..who is one of Haymon's puppets, so if the rumors are true that Walters want to leave TR for PBC, I believe he would be "advised" not to face Loma first.
I don't think we're going to see that fight for a couple years. It wouldn't be smart for loma's team to put him in there with such a dangerous fight so early, especially when he's still a little green as a pro.
Naw man, it's the other way around... Loma beats Walters tomorrow... The thing of it is.... If Loma gets walters out of the picture soon... what other big fight is on the horizon... No one else at 126 can touch him... Walters has power but in every other dimension Loma is superior... speed/footwork/technical skills etc etc...
The biggest fight in boxing is the waiting...
I don't know how anyone watching that fight could come away with Lomachenko being "hittable". Rodriguez landed 55 punches in 9 rounds... roughly 6 punches per round, makes you a hittable opponent?
How many times do you see Lomachenko get hit cleanly, where his head snaps back or he starts to wobble?
He was an absolute wizard, my favorite performance of the night.
Lomachenko's only weakness his his lack of punching power. He can knockout opponents with perfect shots or accumulation of punches, but he doesn't have that concussive power that fighters like GGG have. That's his only weakness.
My guess is he'll get the winner of Gradovich-Selby, which is likely going to be Selby. I would take Lomachenko all day over Selby, who is a very underrated boxer.
i agree, with you about his power, but dont you feel he still holds back. Kinda a habbitt from his amateur days. I think he does have power but he not willing to use it to much for some reason.
Hecould have got Solido and Gary russell out in the round 12...
I like how you discredit Walters' skills saying he gets by because of size even though Lomenchenko weighed the same fight night fighting Russell as he did fighting Donaire. You guys kill me.
Walters is tall and long, his build would allow him to transition effortlessly into 130-135. Meanwhile, guys like Loma and Russell Jr. have T-Rex arms.
Really hope we get Loma-Walters sooner rather than later.
I got Walters in that fight. I like Lomo a lot and think he boxes beautifully. But Walters is a beast and will beat him down. He doesn't have enough pop to keep him off him for 12 rounds. Even though he dominated Rodriquez, he still got touched way too much for a fighter of his skill level. Luckily Rodriguez wasn't a power puncher, but Walters would do serious damage. He knows he has a bit more work to do before he's ready for that fight, but he's definitely not ducking, just making sure he's ready. Fantastic fighter though, always great to watch.
He still look amateurish in some ways. He should be fighting 4/5 times a year.
I agree.
Orlando Salido's son has a lot of potential for the future but there are still things he needs to work on, specifically his tendency to throw show shine flurries and not sit down on his punches more.
His dad has done a great job training him but it might be a good idea to bring in another trainer with more pro experience to continue his development. Even if it's just as a consultant.
