AMIR KHAN believes he WILL fight either Floyd Mayweather Jr or Manny Pacquiao in 2016. Mayweather faces Pacquiao in their long-awaited showdown to decide boxing’s pound-for-pound king at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Mayweather, 38, has said it is one of two fights before he hangs up his gloves – he is expected to box again in September as he aims to match the unbeaten 49-0 record of Rocky Marciano.
Khan faces American Chris Algieri in New York on May 29 and cannot fight in September because he observes the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
But Khan, 28, has not given up hope of facing five-weight world champion Mayweather and if he misses out he is confident of fighting his former sparring partner Pacquiao in November or December.

khans fight with Chris as a hand picked statement fight has completely backfired, I doubt anyone with any sense would now fall for this nonsense.I can't see that even Floyd would think he could get away with fighting a guy who has been knocked out twice and looked so bad against a very poor last opponent.....Floyd knows an opponent needs better form than that.
He has to fight Kell or lose to another fighter for relatively small bucks.A wealthy kid Khan is but his carrer seems to be closing in, the future looks bleak!
Correct.
If Khan is looking for a big payday fight then now he will have to fight Brook as he is as far away as ever from getting Floyd and he will have to fight again before Manny is ready for a "comeback" fight.

That's wishful thinking, but whatever. Mayweather's legacy is guaranteed, his greed is insatiable. Money is the motivator and Mayweather/Brook pays peanuts compared to Mayweather/Pacquiao 2, depending on how the first fight goes.
Wishful thinking as in that would be the best decision for him to make? His greed... He is the highest paid athlete in the world. Line him up in front of the firing squad. It's called success. There will be no need or demand for a rematch. That's how it will go. And there is no rematch clause. Both of these guys just want to be done with each other. It was hard enough for them to make the fight this time.
If Khan is a nobody hype job, what does that Make Maidana, Ortiz and Guerrero? All Chino did to earn a shot was beat the bum Broner, and Ortiz/ Guerrero both beat Berto to get Floyd..
Khan beats Collazo, who's arguably better than Broner. Then destroys Alexander, a guy that schooled Maidana. And you telling me he doesn't deserve the Floyd fight based on that alone?
And oh yeah, Khan beat Maidana way more convincing than Floyd did, only losing three of the late rounds. And everybody knows he was robbed against Peterson.
How is he not worthy, but Maidana, Ortiz, Guerrero are?
Yea he got KOd by Garcia, but KOs happen (ask Manny who's been knocked out three times) and Manny fans always say well prior to the KO Pac was dominating. Same with Khan, before the KO he was whipping Garcia like a step child.
Dude. Broner was the legitimate WBA welter weight champion. Maidana is a two division former world champion. Ortiz was the WBC welter weight champion. Guerrero was Mayweather's mandatory and also a multi division world champion. Collazo was coming off of a long hiatus. And Alexander was coming off of a loss. There is no comparison.
Pacquiao was not dominating Marquez before he got knocked out. He had already been dropped clean in the third round of that fight. And Khan was definitely not dominating Garcia before he got knocked out. Explain all of the counter right hooks that he had already caught Khan with before he eventually knocked him out with the same punch. And Garcia had excellent defense that night also. Khan may have been ahead in the fight but he was far from whipping anyone. That's just an excuse to make his fans feel better. Same with Pacquiao. The proof is in the pudding.
Khan has a pattern of looking for an opponent With a KO percentage around 50%.
He is more that stup1d to believe that Algeri is a direct path to the winner of Floyd/Pac.
The sad thing that he is popular enough that he might get it. All that name calling ala Kell and he picks Algieri, what a joke
I think he really wants to finish out his career strong. And unifying the division for the first time in forever would give him the strong finish he talks about. IMO.

Same pac fans who hyped up Algieri prior to facing Manny are now sh-tting on him.
He tall doe
He a slick boxer doe
He beat Provodnikov doe
But now khan fights him and Algieri is the biggest bum on earth. Smh, pitiful fans.
After Pacquiao, Khan is the most worthy and accomplished fighter left for Floyd to face. And stylistically he will present problems. Why do people refuse to acknowledge Khan is skilled.
Khan style will present more problems for Floyd than Thurman, Brook or Porter. Those guys will look like robots in quicksand against Floyd.
People say he's picking on junior welters. Isn't that what Mannys been doing with Rios and Algieri.
The only other fighter that would be a style nightmare for Floyd is GGG at 160. But we know that's not happening.
We all know what "style nightmare" means when people start talking about Mayweather fighting Golovkin. Humongous size advantage...
Floyd's motivated by money more than anything else. There's (most likely) more cash in a rematch with Manny than any other fight.

GARBAGE FIGHT! Algieri does Nothing for Khan! EASY FIGHT!!! why don't khan fight a top 10. 147 guy?? Thurman will get him close to MAY/PAC! not Algieri!
That's my opinion. And it makes sense. It has absolutely nothing to do with talk from the Mayweather camp. They're not talking about any opponent other than Pacquiao.

That's funny because Khan also claims that he can't fight Kell Brook in June because of Ramadan. How many Ramadan's do the Muslims that practice Khan's brand of Islam have a year.
you realize he'll have to fast for a month during the day...at a time of the year when the days are longest...and in England where days are even longer? Its going to take him weeks to get back to a normal workout schedule. Big fight like this he's going to need a full 8 week training camp, which means late October at the earliest
How is that guaranteed? I've heard no such talk from the mayweather camp.

At least one for every difficult fight.
Khan can't fight in sept because of Ramadan and beating three feather fisted punchers in a row should lead him and his fans to lsc status and be banned from sport

Mayweather is pretty much guaranteed to fight whoever is holding the IBF Welter Weight World Title in his last fight so he can unify the division before he retires. Khan is an idiot if he can't see that.

If Floyd beats Pac convincingly, he'll probably fight Khan (so long as he beats Algieri).
A Floyd-Khan fight was seriously considered in the lead up to Maidana. Khan having a few wins between now and that time won't have damaged his chances.

Hmmm
I think he's trying to snag us on a technicality 'cause there's certainly not a causal relationship here. I mean technically Froch's win over Tony Dobson moved him a step closer to fighting Kessler but I don't think history will remember any real direct relationship.
Maybe Uncle Al just can't bring himself to tell Amir that he doesn't have enough faith in him to throw him in there with Brook or Thurman so he's told him these warm up fights will lead to "something big - nudge, nudge, wink, wink."
Joking aside in terms of what Hunter is doing overseeing Amir's re-development this isn't too bad a fight. It's not a great one either but I think Virgil will want one or two more fights before he leads him in against a dangerous puncher.
This was always going to be taken slowly. It's a difficult task to strip away and relearn ingrained technique. His team will want to see signs that he doesn't revert to his old mistakes when he's put under pressure before really testing him. After all if Khan losses to anyone not named Mayweather or Pacquiao at this point he might not be able to haul himself back.
Now that's a very good point made right there, very rationale and logical.
Calling in Hypocricy
This dreamer needs to step up in opposition. Ouch sorry every time he steps up he gets beat. Prescott, Garcia, Peterson so really Mr Amir Khan needs to prove he is a decent fighter by fighting someone with a pulse.
If you believe Prescott, Garcia were step-up in opposition, then you are the one that is dreamer.
Prescott was a nobody, still a nobody.
Garcia was a nobody, well still a nobody really, unofficially defeated twice
Peterson, SMH, Roided to his tits.
Step up in opposition was: Paulie, Maidana, Judah, Alexander
I don't know How you got that much rep here on this site
