Since Ward won't spill the beans on who caught him with a bungalow, it's up to you, NSB. Let's figure this out.
Now... who is Ward talking about?! Which boxer did this to him?? Apparently, it was early in his career... He gets rocked and doesn't remember what happened.
Watch the interview!!
GO TO 9:00
Ward didn't conclusively beat Boone, there were a number of swing rounds. He was just the better connected fighter.
Why do you feel the need to lie so damn much? It's not respectable at all.
There was no controversy and Ward was not even a well known fighter at the time.
Didn't Goossen get him paid more than $2 million to fight Edwin Rodriguez?
And I thought his dispute with Goossen was on a point of principle?
Ward fought the Super Six, dominated that tournament, dominated Chad Dawson, and then kind of languished for a bit (having the Kelly Pavlik fight fall through multiple times, and getting nipped with his own injury didn't help much). Even during that downtime, Goossen didn't have the wherewithal to help keep Ward's face in the public space; most of the attention that Ward was able to get, came largely from his own efforts, if we're being honest.
You add that Goossen wasn't able to really close on any other fights, and the frustrations set in pretty quickly (think that there was also some issues with some co-promotional money being an issue).
Folks also seem to forget that Ward got, I believe $1.5m for the Super Six finale, before being wooed to HBO, likely with the pay raise drawn in; to put that on Goossen is a bit much.
That's not how the Boone KD happened though. He's talking about someone else. The Boone KD didn't come during a break.
I know that's not what happened. He's taking out of his ass. But I've seen him say that's why he was knocked down against Boone, because the referee called break and he thought it was going to be like how it was in the amateurs.
I can't remember what interview it was off the top of my head, but if it comes to me later I'll post it.
It's definitely Darnell Boone because I've seen Ward talk about how that knockdown was due to him looking at the referee when he called break.

Damn, what an uppercut that was from Boone...and it is very likely him that Ward is talking about, especially as it was a shot Ward would not have seen coming, and it had to have been a shot to put him on the floor as I doubt you can be completely out of it and still fighting on your feet for 2 rounds. Saying that, Provodnikov v Bradley comes to mind...
But yes, probably Boone. :boxing:
Darnel Boone probably
This^^^^^^^^^^
Boone rocked ward and and I think stopped adonis Stevenson.. That's why every prospect fights him. He is very beatable but is a test and learning lesson for young fighters.. Fighters like him get young fighters ready for the world class level
Boone or Edison Miranda. He always talks about how strong of a puncher Miranda was
Miranda was a good puncher. Dude broke Abrahams jaw if I remember correctly.
Charlie Zelenoff
Good one, Charlie couldn't even hit Floyd Sr. (that's right Sr.), then he sucker punched him, but the worst part is he was bragging about beating Floyd Sr., the person he told clowned him. I don't think Ward would be able to live with himself if Charlie hurt him.
I listened to the interview, Ward's really about his money at this point in his career. He's not heading to 175 for a regular payday that's for sure, it would probably have to be huge. Likeable enough guy though imo.
