If you believe that's the reason why Oscar took that fight then you have retained your spot as one of the most ignorant and stupid posters I've ever seen here.
I think you will always have that title just looking in the mirror reminds you that your a very stupid person
He build his brand. Plain and simple. He fought and beat Oscar De La Hoya and talked a lot of sh.t while doing so and really hasn't stopped since. Some people love him, some people hate him, but all (most) boxing fans will watch him
He better thank Delaoya cause Delahoya was a past prime coke addict who didn't have to give him a match I just think Oscar did it as a favor to Sr to make his son the next draw. If Delahoya didn't fight him Floyd would have had to fight Margarito, prime Mosley. Williams and wouldn't have retired when the divison was full of talent his a$$ would have been beaten by now and he wouldn't be a draw today but probably retired cause he wouldn't have the money to buy those undetectable steroids,HGH pay off judges and refs as he does today

There were alot of good boxers with good records aswell but how did floyd make more? is it the people he fought?

I think when they were winning, they were both helpling each other's drawing power.
Just like when one of them lost (Pacquiao) it likely hurt both.
Part of what was driving each fighter's drawing power was the interest and anticipation of them fighting each other.
The more likely the fight looked, the more interest in both.
The less likely the fight looked, the less interest in both.
This is true
Floyd bought himself out of his contract with Arum as Arum wasnt promoting him properly (in his eyes). He then promoted himself pretty well, it has to be said. But he's not making money outside boxing, all these business ventures are losing money imo. He's just not well liked, he doesn't get endorsed that much. He also got scammed a few yrs back by a wise guy for a few million..then just after that there was the mysterious theft and insurance claim..
It's a mix of a few things.
For one, number P4P fighters are generally always big money stars.
Ray Leonard
Manny Pacquiao
Oscar De La Hoya
Roy Jones
Mike Tyson
ALI
and the list goes on and on
For two, Mayweather was able to attract fans, and haters, fans that would pay to see him win, haters that would pay to see him lose. So the persona, ****y, arrogant has alot to do with it as well.
I've always said if he lost his O, majority of his drawing power would diminish.

He makes money by being a top boxer first off but he became a superstar by playing the villain role and making people want to see him lose......
That combined with the aura of his 0. People say being undefeated don't mean anything but in this scenario it does. Mayweather with his style won't make him a massive star so he found the alternative. Whitaker who was another great defensive fighter lost his 0 after 15 fights, yes he was robbed but it still takes away that aura plus he never played the villain role like Mayweather so there was no massive desire to see him lose compared to a Mayweather and he never became the PPV star Mayweather is, despite being just as talented in the ring (imo).
