It's not entirely Danny's fault he's regressed, its his trainer. I don't think Angel is experienced enough to guide Danny at this level of his career. Angel knows this that's why his ass doesn't talk chit like he used to.
No, he's just not a great fighter and this is coming from someone who kind of likes Danny. He had a string of unimpressive wins over good names rather than good fighters (Campbell was over the hill, Holt was over the hill, twice Morales was over the hill, Judah was over the hill). His resume is looked at way more fondly now than when he was actually fighting these guys bc people just look at the names now. Then he had imo the best fight he could ever pull together against Lucas and then went back to being unimpressive. I give him full credit for beating Lucas but I think that was the fight of his life.
This may be true... I always tought he's a well rounded fighter and knows to do everything. I don't know if he don't excell at anything or if he's lazy... OR if he just throw the game plan out the window at every fight. The last good time I've seen him boxing smart was the second half of Matthysse fight and than I tought it was a brilliant decision, but now I'm starting to really ask myself if it was only because of Matthysse's eye... It was all a dream...
"Boxing smart" ?
No, it was just easier to avoid shots from a fighter who had 1 eye and f*cked up depth perception. Low blowing isnt smart boxing either.
"Danny has problems with boxers."
So what happened in the second half of the Peterson fight when PetersoN wanted to slug it out?
Garcia has way more problems than just boxers.
I just think Garcia has a problem with boxers. He practically requires you to stand toe to toe and slug with him. Which is exactly what Matthysse did in the their fight. If Matthysse fought him the way he fought Provodnikov I think Garcia would be in trouble.
Of course, Lucas took Danny's soul. Danny had to revert to roughhouse tactics in order to squeak out a decision win; holding, low blows, you name it. Even with 1 eye, Lucas was still in it, was dominating first 6 rounds. Danny is hyped, has looked like sh*t against C/B level opposition. Danny will continue to duck the #1 guy at 140, Matthysse.
hes just good at alot of little things as opposed to being special in 1 or 2 areas.

Well I don't know if it's true OP, but seeing his performances after the fight it may be possible, while just a year ago I would laugh at that idea. I'm a Matthysse fan, but I admire(d) Garcia's skills too, after the fight I tought that Lucas was a bit overrated and his closed eye played no part in his defeat, that it was all because Garcia just simply started to box smarter in the second half. But seeing their both performances since, I'm starting to really believe that Lucas would destroy him in a rematch and that he would have won the first one with both eyes. So, I'm not so sure if it's the case, but after his recent performances I wouldn't laugh no more at the tought that Matthysse ruined him.
When have you seen Garcia in an easy fight? Even while he was coming up, his fights never looked pretty. Hes always going to be in tough fights because hes limited, hes just good at alot of little things as opposed to being special in 1 or 2 areas.
danny wants you to trade shots so he can land the garsh.
khan was faster than danny, but he was willing to trade.
harrera moves very well. so does peterson.
salka literally asked danny to hit him with the second garsh.
:lol1: :lol1:
i don't see how he could have. he landed a few big shots but not enough to ruin a fighter, and garcia doesn't appear to have physically declined anyway. and psychologically that victory should have had garcia feeling on top of the world.
... The fact is that "psychologically" Danny didn't win that fight -- he won it by accident (I mean "the eye accident"). And Danny knows it. Ask his father -- he told how his son felt afterwards... "Lucas Matthysse had my son peeing blood!"

He has not regressed...Herrera and Peterson just used movement
Yes he has Larry. Watch the accumulative effect punches have on his focus since that fight. Anyone who comes out of a fight deaf and p***ing blood for week is never going to be top line again.
Herrera and Salka were laughable wins, but matthysse's leftovers beat the ***** out of Garcia.

bingo.
styles make fights. peterson gets blown out of the water against matthysse, who has decent footspeed and one of the best left hooks on the move in boxing. he arguably wins more rounds against garcia because he knows how to use the ring, or fight all the way inside.
