Dude cant even get up in the morning from that meniscus. sucks to hear. but yeah he was 100% for that Cotto fight righttttt. Congrats to Maravilla on a great career.
Yeah you're right, Martinez is totally fine, always was, he's making it up.
Its true, that type of injury doesn't cripple you. I had mine operate and still jog. Martinez can't train as hard as he should for a professional fight. Martinez should had known when to stop his career if the injury was so painful.
how is that possible? he has trouble getting out of bed. i mean he lost to a blown up cotto for crying out loud. he can't beat anyone.
a minuscus tear isn't career ending. I've had one. The only problem with that injury is that if you don't have surgery on it, it can bother you for some time.
He must have some terrible surgeons too because these types of injuries are VERY common in MMA and those guys always seem to come back from these sorta injuries. Look at GSP, he's had it on both knees now ACLs.
He did come back a few times from those injuries, but it catches up to you, especially coming up to his 40's.
if he does retire then it makes cotto win look sh1t because it shows he had nothing left in the tank
You picked Sergio to win too? Don't worry 3/4 people did.
I'd be severely disappointed if he continued to fight. Props for not pulling out of the Cotto fight but he best recognise that he has no legs and cannot continue to box. Same that such a talent is going to be suffering for the rest of his life because of his trade. Way she goes though.

Congrats to Maravilla on an outstanding career. A great guy in the ring and out. If he'd risen to the top a little sooner, we'd be talking Hall of Fame.
I watched the ''Maravilla' documentary on Netflix the other day. Amazing what he achieved having started so late.
Very respectable champ, and fought everyone he could except for maybe ggg. But with injuries and ggg only judt coming on to the scene as Martinez was looking to get out with a payday, its understandable.
I remember reading that Martinez' earnings outside boxing are greater than what he earns inside the ring, hopefully he can continue on that path and stay wealthy.
P4P no.1 Dish of all time.
Bitter sweet for me. I loved watching Martinez in his very short prime where he was dominating every mw that was put in front of him, with his 'hand down slipping/juking offense defense' style. His style was really fun to watch as well as his vicious knockouts.
I would've liked to see him have a farewell fight against a Brian Vera kind of opponent, but if his body won't let 'em, then best to retire.
Damn, give Cotto his respect. He hit Sergio so hard to the temple in round one, that Sergio's meniscus began to tear and he began to consider retirement right then and there. :boxing:
War King Taino!
A shame, but you could see it coming. He was in a mess against Cotto..it was just a pay day for him.
I enjoyed watching Martinez, I liked his style. Particularly his wins over Pavlik, Williams and Chavez. He was one of my favourite fighters around that time.
he fought till the last second of the cotto bout, if it was up to him he would have kept fighting. well miss you sergio, you had a great career and always gave the fans a show.
what? that fight was a damn scam. a retirement fund for martinez. he knew he couldn't compete as a boxer anymore. he conned everyone so he could make a profit. you don't get props for that. and cotto going around pretending he's the man for beating a disabled person is downright pathetic. then add to that the ducking of ggg and he looks even worse. cotto-martinez is going to be on hbo's unlegendary nights someday.
If he defrauded the public with GGG instead Cotto, all would be well though. :lol1:
