The day Wlad retires will be great for boxing

It's coming soon, and when that moment happens you'll see an influx of Cruisers moving up to HW, possibly some LHW's to cruiser as well since CW will be weaker. It'll have a ripple effect on the other divisions, very interesting. The HW division will be alive once again, some great fights to be made. PBC could also take full advantage of this, everyone loves watching exciting heavies. You're argument is unconvincing.

If the heavyweights aren't exciting now they won't suddenly become exciting when the best heavyweight retires. The heavyweights and cruiserweights weren't all that great before Wlad was champion. He has been a good champion because he defends his title often against high ranked contenders unlike Cotto, Garcia, Ward and other champions. Will the next heavyweight champion be as good a champion as he is? His retirement or the retirement of any particular boxer won't make boxing in general that much better. It would take lots of good fighters and good fights in lots of different weight classes to do that in my opinion,

Wlad has been class. He's a gent & a dangerous man. I think boxing has missed the boat over the years. We reminisce about the HW days of Ali, Frasier, Liston. If there had been more focus on the CW division & more money put into that division there was the perfect mix, the old HW division. David Haye won the HW belt but in terms of potential he's has been a huge letdown. In the cruiserweights he looked slick, confident & p4p material. The money's at HW so guys are potentially eating/filling themselves out of their ideal weight class. HW's today are a new breed. They're getting bigger & they are learning to use their size to their advantage.

There are many talented cruisers that could move up to HW and compete and beat these guys. Cunningham gave Fury a hell of a fight, there are much better guys than Cunningham at CW. These guys aren't that small either. The CW limit is 199lbs, they can easily re-hydrate to 210+, then they start gaining muscle to move up at HW, they get to 220-240lbs easy. LHW's can easily move up as well, Beterbiev could move up to CW, or Kovalev. It is going to change boxing big time. HW is where all the money is. You've seen guys like Adamek move up from LHW and have success, many guys can do it. As he's aging we'll probably see some newer guys move up, getting some fights in, waiting for their chance.

This isnt a knock on him because he's clearly the rightful ruler of the division...but the division can't get as exciting as it cud be while he's still around. If Wlad wasnt around its likely that Fury, Povetkin & maybe someone else would also be champs and we'd be talking about big unification fights. We all know the champion vs champion fights sell the best. The emergence of big HW prospects/champs in America, the UK & Eastern Europe at the same time could bring back the global prestige of being a HW champ. While he's here he beats his opponents before they get a chance to be a really big star...so basically there are no HW superfights possible except maybe Wlad-Wilder

Too bad he has a couple of years left and has no real challengers to face. Wilder is a very real challenge.

Given there are two or three great fights still left out there for him i hope he doesnt retire we deserve to see wlad vs wilder and wlad vs fury possible even wlad vs jousha

I'm a critic of his as well but isn't HW division already becoming a little more interesting, even with his presence.
