:lol1: LOL @ the noob bambis who pick Martinez. That right there shows you don't know anything about the sport of boxing. There is a reason why Martinez ducked him so hard. Golovkin RIPS him apart, he violates Martinez, makes him feel like a woman and then turns him straight.. all on the same night. He absolutely beats all the queer demons that possess Martinez soul.
I'm pretty sure it didnt have anything to do with martinez knowing his knees were done and wanted a last pay day against cotto.
I think GGG is the betting favorite just with how dangerously powerful he is. Sergio, although an ATG in my book seems to have a limited ring generalship compared to GGG. That's why I would have to say I think GGG would have better chance of figuring out how to attack Martinez then Martinez figuring out a way to disarm the more established amateur standout.
I don't want to sound like a broken record, but Golovkin is one of the best amateurs of the last 20 years. His boxing ability is much better than Sergio's.
Despite his slickerish style, Sergio's had big holes in his defence, he got hit plenty. I'm not saying it's better than Golovkin's, but it's certainly not good enough against GGG.
Footowork - Just because Sergio was "fleet on his feet", it doesn't mean his footwork was better, it wasn't. It looks like it is, but it's not. Sergio has been trapped on the ropes plenty of times. Golovkin's ability to cut the ring off, his fluid movement and balance make his footwork better than Sergio's. Not as flashy, but much more effective.
Not only is Golovkin the better boxer of the two, not only he's more powerful, he's also got the style to beat ANY version of Sergio Martinez.
Bad style match-up, simple as that.
Fair point.
Hey, I'm not here to say it's a certified victory for Martinez, but to each its own.

Meh, both guys have looked vulnerable to the other guy's style before, but neither guy(in their respective prime) were in any real danger.
Martinez fought at an exhausting pace and was very awkward to deal with. Whenever Golovkin has to deal with guys who use their legs he gets tagged a good amount trying to catch them. A guy like Sergio Martinez who was fast, had above average power, and had a tendency to bloody up his opponents face can beat a guy like GGG.
It's a bad style match up for both guys to be honest. Still think Martinez busts up Golovkin's face and stops him late on cuts.
People always fall into the trap of naturally assuming movers are better boxers than stalkers/pressure fighters.
GGG is a much better fighter than any Martinez that ever fought. Martinez had a draw with Cintron and lost to Williams. GGG could KO Williams and Cintron on the same night. There is just no comparison between the two fighters in my opinion. GGG is better by a mile. I know Martinez got robbed in his fight with Cintron. Cintron would probably be KOed by GGG in a round or two. A younger welterweight Martinez was KOed by Margarito. GGG has never even come close to losing a pro fight and he has never been hurt or knocked down to my knowledge.
Then why bring it up, spacker?
Sergio Martinez by decision.
I'd say the version that fought Chavez Jr would be able to get the job done.
Yes he got carleess at the end and left his chin exposed, but he wouldn't have done that against Glovokin.
Martinez
Better boxing ability
better reflexes
better defense
good punching power
good hand speed
better footwork
good counter puncher
Glovokin
Better punching power

.........you forgot "willingness to win" Sergio is there to out think out box, GGG is there to KO him. Sergio never had power to keep GGG honest sorry but thats not true. He has good movement skills great boxers have everything he doesn't have everything.
........the boxer who will be a runner against a pressure guy with power!
I'll take the pressure guy everytime.

If chavez jr could hurt SM im 100% ggg will find, seek and destroy. Jr for some odd reason was reluctant to throw ggg will not
JR was also a light heavy weight otherwise dude woudve been KO'd. GGG gets way too much love for his crappy resume.
i like martinez with his movement to UD. Martinez wasn't going to get KOd.

Probably because he was getting punched in the face by a hard puncher with good movement
Golovkin's face gets marked up pretty easily. I don't think it holds up to a prime Martinez. He was too quick and punched harder than anyone Golovkin has ever faced. I got Martinez by late stoppage.
Neither guy has great defense. Martinez movement and punching power will be too much for Golovking to handle, imo.
A fight for the ages. A healthy sergio from 2010-12 would give GGG leaps of trouble. But I have GGG by knockout in the 11th similar to the Murray fight.

Did you see that Cintron fight? When cintron supposedly got hit with a headbutt? or when the referee took a point for no dam reason. sergio won that fight plain and simple. pwill beat him in a close fight the first time around but i the scorecards were a joke.
GGG by KO after chasing Sergio for 10 rounds, better be a 20 sq ring or he'll never catch him!
The most hyped middleweight of all time is Sergio, he will never appear on any top ten or twenty or fifty list of middleweights.
Heres a man who fought 9 or 10 fights at 160lbs. 9 or 10??? and there are fans here who think he's a great fighter/boxer. His best win is against Paul Williams who had a win over him so their very even and Paul will never go down as a great fighter either.
Both good but far from great. GGG KO's Sergio once he stops running away.

Evenly matched for the first third, GGG has success in the mid rounds, SM kicks it into high gear and finds his groove in the late rounds.
Martinez gets knocked down but wins by UD.
Martinez had the speed and athleticism to outbox from the outside and power enough to keep GGG honest in the exchanges.
