MARK "TOO SHARP" JOHNSON ON MAYWEATHER VS. PACQUIAO:
I looked at Manny Pacquiao and I see that he's done like Roy Jones and Aaron Pryor. All three of them do the same thing. They do everything wrong in boxing, but they were so fast that they get away with it. As time starts slowing down, you see what happened to Aaron Pryor, you see what happened to Roy Jones, and you see what's happening to Pacquiao. I think Floyd is going to be too big, a lot of good defense, and I just don't think Pacquiao is going to be able to deal with it.
So what I had to tell people is this. What about when Pacquiao fought Cotto? What about when Pacquiao fought De La Hoya? He looked way better than when Floyd fought those two guys? I had to break it down to them that Pacquiao fought those guys at 147, a weight class that killed Cotto to make and a weight class that Oscar De La Hoya hadn't made in 10 years. So if you don't know boxing, they pulled the wool over your eyes with a name. You think it's a good fight because of the name. Floyd fought those guys at 154 pounds, their best weight. Floyd fought Cotto and Oscar at 154, their best weight. They didn't have to lose weight, they didn't have to kill themselves. So I like Floyd in the fight by decision. I don't think it's going to be a stoppage.
Pacquiao did nothing wrong in agreeing to fight DLH at WW, yes DLH was drained but he tried to cherry pick Pacquiao and it backfired horrendously, nobody should point the finger at Pacquiao for that fight. Mayweather fought a better version of DLH but it was DLH's own fault.
Doubt that.prime oscar beats floyd and PAC .oscar was no joke.he was a past it part time fighter vs both in their primes.both get the business.
He was handicapped at 147, but he was the A side
And it wasnt a catchweight.
Remember Sweet P??? Confounded goldy and got robbed. Imagine the same Manny against any version. Its a bad style for him.
of course its easier to not lose weight...this is probably the stupidest statements I've read on here, I pray that this is a troll.
In terms of making the weight obviously cutting is easier than moving up, but in terms of actual in-ring performance it may in fact be more difficult to move up as the guy you could be fighting would be more powerful than you.
This thread proves how retarded these guys are. They just make **** up as they go along.
Give it another week. Someone will claim Pacquiao/DLH was at 145 for the 39,839th time.
Seriously though this is like literally the gotdamn 36,785th time the forum has went over this thread topic.

Sorry mate, but it was Floyd himself who said it...... completely new topic IMO.
When one fighter is contracted to a weight other than his regular division its a CW , learn boxing you idiots .
Was Cotto at 145 a CW , the division is 140-147 , geez the boxing retards in here dont know nothing .

Facts are facts, 147 is a division not a catch weight. Oscar was handicapped by it but it wasn't a catchweight.
Manny beats any version of Oscar though, styles.

It's much easier to move up in weight rather than move down in weight, especially late in a fighter's career.

Many people seem to forget this. ^^
A WW fight is anywhere between 140.1lbs and 147lbs. If both fighters weight in a 143lbs it's still a WW fight.
No one is denying this. The definition of a catch weight is a fight that isn't at the division limit.
Any fight where the limit isn't at one of the recognized weight classes is considered a catch weight...Why does this even need to be explained
No because not all CWs are equal you are all hung up on the CW which on face value doesnt mean anything , what matters is the effect of a CW and thats on an individual basis , you cannot throw a blanket over all CWs because they not all the same , Oscar was the worst case of weight drained Ive ever seen in a contest of this level .
True it was a cherry pick gone very wrong , not Mannys fault but he beat a dead man walking and fans pumping the win up for Manny is not telling the whole story , actually I bet the version of Oscar Floyd fought , the 20 lb bigger Oscar that Floyd fought , would beat the hell out of Manny probably stopping him .
Good grief Flommers showing how deranged they are.
Yes , it was a contracted weight much lower than what Oscar had been fighting at 154 , Oscar had not been 147 on fight night for over 10 yrs , he was ruined before the bell sounded .
As an example a LW champ fights a WW champ at 140 pounds , its a CW .
Who chose the weight?
Technically those are max weights for divisions there not actual divisions themselves.

No catchweight... 140, 147, 154, 160 are divisions
A true 154 pounder asking another true 154 pounder to fight at 152 is a deliberate catchweight...
Technically those are max weights for divisions there not actual divisions themselves.
