There has to be a crispy 100 placed on this fight. I honestly think Monroe could keep GGG guessing the first 4 rounds and if he's composed and determined, he could win enough rounds for a decision. The sharpness of Willie's punches will stun GGG more than any opponent this far in his career.
Read more carefully. Golovkin is 1/100 on which means you'd have to put down 100 pounds on Golovkin just to make 1 pound profit.
Willie Jr is around 15-1 on average.
Means GGG is a 80-1 or 100-1 fav and Nelson is a 14-1 dog....I didn't really read the title, thought it was saying that GGG was an 80-1 fav. Either way, sounds like there is no way in hell anyone believes that GGG loses the fight.
True, GGG is fighting him just to keep active and cash a check.
Just curious, what would be your reaction (and prediction) if it were Cotto fighting Monroe?
If Cotto were fighting Monroe, everyone would be bragging about how he is fighting a genuine middleweight in his voluntary defense. Exactly how they are talking about Heiland. But it's a voluntary so it is perfectly fine, they'd say.
Whoever's in The Ring or ESPN or TRRB or any of those lists.
Obviously being Top 10 in a sactioning body doesn't make you Top 10.
Then you should disregard the RING ratings as they also give out titles and are owned by ODLH which tends to explain a few things in their ratings. They are hardly uninterested observers.
I don't know.
All I know is Munroe is terrible and isn't in the Top 10.
And Golovkin doesn't have to fight Munroe to keep his title.

They sure matter to the fighters who don't want their titles taken away.
And who in the middleweight top 10 is all that much better than Monroe? That is available to fight Golovkin, of course.

They never matter, ever.
Munroe isn't top 10, nor close.
Neither was Jo Jo Dan at Welterweight.

They hold no weight regarding who the best in the division are. You can't put down titles and want them gone and only want one title, and then use their rankings when it fits your agenda. In this case to inflate Willie Monroe's ranking at MW.
Jo Jo Dan wasn't top 10 at WW, and neither is Monroe at MW.
Looking through the Ring's rankings, two of their top 10 were KO'd in their last fights, and another is in jail and unlikely to fight again. The others are no better than Monroe or are already committed to other fights (Quillin, Lee, N'Dam, Saunders, Jacobs).
So would you prefer that GGG stay inactive until one of them is available (and willing) to fight him?
When you are fighting for alphabet titles, their ratings matter. That's why we just saw Jo Jo Dan fight for a title.

I thought this was common knowledge. I had no idea people actually used title rankings to determine where a fighter ranks in a division.

Why did you pick the closest odds as your example?
because I use paddypower and I checked them first. Anyway, most of them say 14-1? Widest is 18-1, it's hardly 80-1.
Monroe is ranked #9 by the WBC, #2 by the WBA, and #5 by the WBO. Feel free to fact check that.
IDC about rankings from ABC titles. They usually have crap, unknown fighters in their top 10. When I talk about top 10 i'm talking about the actual top 10 of the division.
Is that how you say it in betting terms OP? because the odds on him to win are 14-1.
