KELL BROOK has called for a summer showdown with boxing superstar Juan Manuel Marquez at Bramall Lane.
The Sheffield welterweight was in superb form on his return to the ring to defend his IBF title, blowing away Jo Jo Dan in four rounds on Saturday night.
And Brook, 28, now wants to face future hall of famer Marquez this June at the home of his boyhood football club Sheffield United.
Marquez may be 41, but the four-weight world champion has beaten some of the biggest names in boxing and is expected to return to action following a knee injury.

Nobody cares about any org rankins! Give me one example of when I have ever used such ridiculous and unsound logic to back up anything.
but you just used WBO who have the worst rankings of all to justify Khan's fight against a completely washed up MAB.
Marquez is a RING and TBRB top 4 WW.
Highly debatable.
Again, let's assume your point regarding org rankings, but then why care about their belts? Surely, Brook was mandatory for one before winning their belt. :lol1:
I believe the effect of much greater strength from steroid use, is the catalyst for joint problems. People on the juice are much stronger than they would normally be. As a result, they are capable of lifting very heavy weights. Despite the great strength gains, the tendons and joints still have limits and will ultimately suffer damage from repeated heavy lifting.
That is absolutely true for power lifters and even bodybuilders who train extremely heavy, year round.
Marquez isn't going to be lifting weight heavy enough, and certainly not for a long enough time period, to be doing that kind of damage to his joints or ligaments.
Rankings r hogwash , everyone knows Marquez is pretty washed up now . Pleas don't predicate the validity of ur post on rankings ! Wasn't JoJo Dan ranked fairly high ?
No he wasn't and he certainly wasn't ranked in the top 4 of his division :lol1: Which Marquez is both by Ring and by TBRB.
Unless it is their belts right?

Even if Marquez wasn't a cripple (now's your chance, Miguel) and on the verge of retirement, he'd still duck Brook due to pathological fear of dark-skinned fighters from the Ingle gym. One musn't forget his blatant ducking of Naseem Hamed all them years back.
THIS!
Brilliant
Brook wants Marquez strictly because he KO'd the #2 fighter in the world in Pacquiao. It also doesn't hurt that Juan's smaller and over 40. If Kell truly wants to be credible, he needs to fight a top five young opponent here in the States. I'd also like to know that Brook is submitting to random PED testing, as he looked mighty buff against Dan.
If JMM did take PED's (which I suspect), he took the kind that helps build muscle mass/strength. I look at his larger trap muscles as proof.
I'm not a PED expert, but testosterone itself is the main anabolic steroid harmone the body produces. Anything related to building muscles, strength, and power is testosterone related,..and it can have affects on joints ESPECIALLY if you're training hard as a professional boxer.
Exercising/training coupled with PED use, increases the likelihood of joint pain/injury.
I train people who use all kinds of steroids on a daily basis. Testosterone, in any ester, does not cause joint and ligament damage, quite the opposite in fact.
Even if he was using other compounds, there are plenty others to prevent joint problems.
Age and years of training will be the main reason for his injury problems.

If u really analyze boxing fairly well , pretty much everyone's top 6 at 147/154 in no specific order, should be Mayweather , Manny , Brook , Canelo , Kahn , Thurman . F..k an official ranking and f..k fighters who r smoke and mirrors and carry around the illusion of still being good like Cotto .
:lol1:
Idiotic comment.
Marquez is ranked higher than Brook. Barrera was shot to hell when Khan fought him.

I rate Thurman, but how he can in the top 3 is beyond. me. Fought no one! Bradley beat JMM, is that how he got to 2. If so how can you Spag off Brook wanting to fight JMM.
JMM isn't a factor in terms of WW anymore IMO because he said he will not fight Floyd or Manny again. Maybe he changes his mind. Until he does, I have him outside the Thurman, Brook and Bradley group.
I am not against it, I just prefer other fights to that one.
Thurman and Brook are the guys I see at #2 and #3 (along with Bradley) at ww. A fight between any of the group would be an "eliminator" of sorts.

Thurman is a no body. Beaten no one. Taken no hard fights. Both Brook and Keith need to get in with a Maidana or Bradley to get in the mix.

Why should anyone beat Thurman? He is a no body. No fans asides a few forum dwellers. Thurman has one good win against a gallant but limited for in Ghost. Ghost had no motivation left and has been losing the plot for a while now. He also struggled against a EBU champion. Barely landed a power punch. Brook, who has done nothing asides from one win over hype job Porter would wreck Thurman. Neither deserves a big fight as neither have more than the one name on thief resume and zero risks!
Thurman is a good fighter and his stock is growing but I laugh when people say that Khan or Brook "HAVE TO" beat Thurman to get to Mayweather :lol1:
Does Mayweather even know who Thurman is?
I dont see JMM coming over
JMM is a respectable name however, but a old old man, no way cud he beat someone fresh and young as Brook
Its no different from Barrera vs Khan
While even a old version of JMM is a step up from the likes of Rios, however it will not be a very competitive fight
Brook by stoppage
If they ever fight I will bet you that Brooks won't KO him
