KELL BROOK once loved Floyd Mayweather Jr so much he named his Jack Russell after him.
But the Sheffield welterweight is now ready for a bite at boxing's top dog.
And he insists he is not barking mad in believing he can beat him.
Brook, 28, takes on Jo Jo Dan tonight in the first defence of his IBF title at the Motorpoint Arena in his hometown.

Ezekiel is on point. Brook is young, prime, huge and strong. And Floyd is getting old. There are 2 welterweights Floyd won't even think about atm and brook is one. He'll probably fight Pacman in an unnecessary rematch and then retire. Not that I blame him. Why the hell would I as an old man fight anyone risky when I'm on my way out.
This reminds me when Ortiz fought Floyd and you talked about him being "young, strong and prime"
And "all Ortiz has to do is pressure and he will win"
Khan doesn't do much IMO.....Alexander is a terrible fighter...go watch him struggle to stop Lee Purdy...
Kell beats Floyd, Manny and Khan....
He stops Khan and Manny
Struggled with Lee Purdy :lol1:
What by winning every second of every round with one arm before it was stopped?
Out of his own mouth Floyd said he wanted to fight in England. The IBF welterweight champ is there. That means undisputed welterweight crowned winner, that's why.
Fighters have gotten a shot at Floyd for less than beating the likes of Porter. (Marquez) comes to mind.
If Mayweather defeats Pacquiao I believe Brook would be an excellent choice for his final fight. As you said this would give him an opportunity to unify the division and retire as the undisputed unified welterweight champion of the world. With the possibility of also making history with a huge event in the UK at Wembley Stafium I think there is a great chance that Mayweather pursues that IBF crown whether Brook or Khan is holding it at the time.
Look at the bright side, him pursuing Mayweather pushed him to make the Pacquiao fight, saved boxing and set up an eliminator where the winner fights him........hehe.
You're as delusional as Amir Khan is if you really believe that anything he says to the media has any affect on Mayweather's decisions about his career.
I am not sure that I have seen enough of Brook to say that he can compete with Floyd. Even if Floyd was old, he would probably most, if not all, the young hungry lions coming up through the ranks. I may not call him TBE, but he is very skilled, slick, and fast fighter. He would still beat Brook, even if he is not at his physical peak.
Zero chance he beats Floyd right now. Less than zero. Maybe if he waits until Floyd hits 44 and even then he'll have a 10-ish percent chance.
But why would he talk about Brook? He hasn't done much and if they fight and Floyd wins they will say that he didn't have enough experience or that he was cherry picked.
Let Brook beat at least one more good fighter in high fashion and then he should be seriously be in on major match ups

Fighters like Maidana who did alright against Floyd are very awkward. Kell is not that. He's too much like a boxing textbook to beat Floyd. Would be 120-108
That's what I'm saying.
Thurman beats Floyd? What does Thurman bring other than power?
Movement, speed, angles, suddenness, meaning not an easily timed fighter. Confidence, youth, size, skills, ability to throw with full power and speed through 12 rounds (Zaveck fight). Good cardio, hand eye coordination, well trained and coached, the ability to carry out a strategy, and not deterred when faced with adversity.
Did I miss something? Has Brook beat anybody since Porter? Did he fight and beat Pac or Maidana or Thurman or somebody when I wasn't looking?
Brook is right; Mayweather is getting old and Kell is in his prime.
That's a good reason for Brook to stay well away from Floyd. It would be even more embarrassing to get beat up in your prime by a guy who you pointed out in the media as getting old.
Floyd by wide UD. Easy work.
Brook is a text book orthodox fighter. Floyd takes him to school.

He fought a war torn, and used up Cotto at 154. Basically the guy that got beat down, and ate too many burritos. He fought a past it Oscar, and still had problems. He fought a past it Shane, that couldn't pull the trigger against any type of mover, and got stanky legged. Those aren't exactly the best versions of those guys, at all. Lesser fighters than Corley? Corley's record is atrocious, and the guy lost 7 out of his last 10 after fighting Floyd. What a beast. Bro, Thurman beat Guerrero way worse than Floyd's 3 pot shots a round ass.
Ghost wasn't the Ghost we usually see, because he got his ass kicked by the superior fighter. And Thurman got rocked against a huge right hand from Karass, and that's about it. He didn't even get rocked by Chaves. You're the one with a flawed memory, because you make stuff up.
I'm a hater, because I think Thurman has a much better chance than Brook, and his too fundamental style? Bro, get off Brook's nuts. Did you even watch the Brook/Porter fight? The fight proved that Porter is as much of a boxer as Lebron James is a tennis player.
Thurman and Pac are the only ones with a chance to beat Floyd at WW, and I think both beat him. Hating so hard.

WOW ....and there you have the nature of the pacquiao fan....two minutes ago styles made fights and now Thurman beats down Floyds opponents at lower weights seems to matter.....and NO......He does not beat Cotto.....He does not beat De La Hoya, He probably doesn't even beat Shane...He has been hurt by lesser fighter than Corley and as memory serves Ortiz beat Berto worse than Ghost did(you know since Triangle Theories count now)
See this is why having a goldfish like memory and a blind hatred for a man you've never met play against you.... Thurman has been hurt in multiple fights.......Not even always by big punchers..... Thurman's win over Ghost means about as much as Porters win over Paulie because anyone with a brain could see that wasn't the Ghost we usually see.....

Khans has finally stopped talking about Floyd and has come to terms with Floyd never fighting him
It seems now Brook is doing all the talking about Floyd

Bradley made a point and to paraphrase that: Brook is a very good fighter, but very basic, however he is very good with those basic, hence he has gotten this far.
But why would he talk about Brook? He hasn't done much and if they fight and Floyd wins they will say that he didn't have enough experience or that he was cherry picked.

^This. I think Brook vs Thurman is perfect and they both seem to want that fight next. Would love to see the winner of that get a crack at Floyd but Floyd's stupid commitment to that September date may fck things up.

Really? I thought he he handled Porter pretty well in a 8-4 kind of fight. It looked sloppy because Porter was charging in head first.
Brook kept his composure very well and timed his counters. He did handled Porter very well but didn't dominate but was a very clear victory. It is a good win none of the less but he needs one more big name.
