Yes I know he has knocked off a bunch of stars and a few budding super stars but he is as boring as Wladimir Klutchko. Why are people thrilled by his boring safety first style but fall asleep for Klutchko?
Nothing Like Ali
Ali Traveled the world, met with Leaders, gave Lectures at Colleges...Mayweather did not do that!
Ali pissed off a lot of white people, that's all Floyd's done and nothing more.
All he did was copy Ali with a modern twist on it. Floyd did nothing original lol.

You don't think much of him, and yet made a thread about it. Now imagine this b*tching times 1,000,000. You get a crazily popular athlete who actually has an anti-fanbase as well as a fanbase.
It is actually very simple, THIS STARTED IT ALL:
While other have this burning desire to be LIKED BY EVERYBODY, Mayweather went a totally different route that has never been done in Boxing but also in Sports IN GENERAL...HE ACCEPTED THE VILLAIN ROLE!
A lot of it was WWF (now WWE) Influence which is why he later end up working for the WWE. The Turn From a Face (GOOD GUY "Pretty Boy") to a Heel (BAD GUY "Money") and him flaunting his money was to get the fans to BOO and HATE HIM but to tune in and hope he lose to Oscar and it WORKED they Broke Records! You also learn over the years not just in boxing but just overall that a lot of people LOVE THE BAD GUY! They love to be the only guy in the room ROOTING FOR THE BAD GUY! After that people can't stop watching him which is why his Following on Social Media is that of a POP STAR and not of a Regular Boxer
Money Mayweather is just a real version of The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m71vdyGU9E1qz99fl.pnghttp://blkdmnds.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Money-May-630.jpg

He built himself that way. Its a combination of supply and demand along with building a villain type character and being undefeated. After Oscar he cherrypicked enough to remain undefeated and fought like once a year. His fans wanted to see him fight and his haters wanted to see him lose.
Still if he didnt want it even moonves wouldnt be able to force him. Even with his PPV going low he was still doing better than other guys.
If he said no, he could have been void of his contract for no living up to his expectations. If someone comes in and makes you a kitchen and does a really ****ty job but everything just works. Lights work but flicker, water turns on but low pressure, counters and cabinets work but ugly and hanging off the wall, you'd be sued.
Floyd is supposed to fight and make everyone money. If you turn down the biggest money fight in boxing with fair terms that would 100% lead to some very big legal issues for Floyd. I'm sure the Floyd defenders would argue this but it's simply fact. When Floyd signed up with Showtime he got a big guarantee because he also made some big guarantee's he obviously needed to live up to them.

because he is the talent of our generation along with pac hes unbeaten he has fans but also because he played a character the bad guy in 24l7 which made people hate him whcih makes for even more people watching

Do you understand how a budget works?
supply and demand.
Hes the only supply (P4p#1 undefeated) and the demand is high (public wants to see him lose)
Also the free market, HBO and Showtime wants him, so a bidding war happens and may the higher bidder wins for the right to his content. Which showtime won and floyd deal is for at least X amount per fight gurantee with X amount of percentage so with every fight he gets paid according to the scale of the fight, some fights he gets paid less and some fight he gets paid more.
Simple economics.
He laid the foundation early in his career when he was mouthy and arrogant. And he had a decent KO ratio early on. Somewhat similar to Broner. Except Floyd kept winning.
Then Mayweather progressed to the "money" personality. Brash and flash - with solid brand marketing. He beat up on some name fighters (Oscar being the biggest) and then beat up on some women. More and more fight fans wanted to see Mayweather lose and get humbled.
Today I think a big chunk of fight fans watch to hope to see him lose his "0"
If Mayweather gets beaten good and solid then his PPV numbers would crash.
Lol who forced him? if he didnt want it he wouldnt have taken the fight.
The fact that people stopped buying his PPV's are why he had to take the fight. Showtime was losing money, this guy called Les Moonves made him take the fight.

Could somebody explain why Floyd makes so much money for his fights? | BoxingScene Community
