People like to forget Margarito was slow as molasses that night fighting with cement shoes. And even with one eye he was able to hurt Pacquiao to the body in the late rounds. Yes, that was a white wash for Pacquiao but I believe he also took a lot of unnecessary punishment in the fight.
Nah, the one Arum wouldn't make a deal over (as well as Cotto, Hatton and DLH). The history on all that is easy to find. Arum, rightly at the time, didn't think Mayweather would generate enough money to justify 8 mil for Marg, 10 mil for Cotto and Hatton a-piece and DLH at 20 mil. Mayweather knew different.
ducked.
ducked.
ducked.
What Margarito, you mean that Margarito Mayweather ducked? that Margarito?

Pac's demolition work ended Margo's career that night.
later on Cotto finally got his revenge on a half blind, shot Margo, all thanks to Pac
Cotto owes his victory over Margo to Pac. Pac's destructive work on Margo was so thorough it was enough to produce 2 victories, one for him and another one for Cotto.
margarito never ever fought to his size advantage, ever. floyd does, almost always in fact. he knows how to use his range advantage. horrible comparison.
I agree. It's 2 completely different styles.Comparing Mayweather and Margarito is like comparing fire and ice.
Blanco's right, it's been repeated numerous times on this site how Floyd will/would bully Manny in a fight. It's been said by f**king retards, but it's still been said.
It's one thing to say that Floyd will maximize his size advantage(s) over Manny, and another to say that he'll bully him.
Floyd doesn't bully anybody and he damn sure isn't bullying Manny Pacquiao, lmfao.
Floyd bullied shane mosley for 10 straight rounds
I'm not talking about range, Floyd has great reach/range and uses it well. I'm talking about sheer strength and the ability to push an opponent around. Tony was a bully and couldn't faze PAC. Guys on here seem to think Floyd is going to manhandle PAC due to size, it's nuts.
Tony, while limited, was a serious fighter. The plaster scandal and Mosley ped beating tarnished a solid résumé.
what resume?
margarito never beat anybody.
I've seen it repeated on here numerous times and the post above by marvellous was the only one that articulated why it has any bearing. The other guys on here talk about it like Floyd is going to push manny around the ring. Which is why i referenced that tony couldnt even do it to pac. Lol and ya of course how they fight is drastically different.

Neither of these guys are physical fighters and both prefer fighting at a distance, so I dont see physical size being a factor. In terms of height Pacquiao is always punching up at a taller fighter, to be honest punching upwards for a lot of fighters is easier than punching down. The only real advantage I see is Floyd's reach which is abnormal for a fighter of his size.

But that margo power doe...I wouldn't wanna fight that cartel looking MF.
well floyd is not a bully when he fights usually. even when hes coming forward, he doesnt use his size to do it. and truth be told, hes bigger than pac but not by that much. no sure why anyone would think thats a factor. mrgarito and floyd are totally different in how they fight. margs major weapon was his size and his relentlessness.

Margarito took the kind of beating that shortens a person's life. What was the point of letting that fight go on? Lawrence cole did nothing the entire fight..lol

Try to think of it this way. Mayweather being bigger won't affect the way Pacquiao likes to fight. In that you're right in that won't really mean anything for him. He'll just do what he does.
The difference will be how Mayweather will fight. He's usually the one being outweighed by 10 to 15lbs on fight night which make punches a little less effective and using strength more difficult. A bigger, heavier guy like Maidana can push Mayweather back a lot easier and press him to the ropes without even throwing too much. Pacquiao won't have a clear strength advantage to press Mayweather so will probably do it using punches as he moves forwards. This allows Mayweather to fight a different fight where he can use his great ability to control distance to much better effect.
Marquez showed for great parts of fight 3 that you can make Pacquiao much less frenetic if you control the distance and use lateral movement (to your left) to give less opportunites for the straight left. So where there may be a difference is Mayweather will find it easier to control distance when dealing with someone less physically imposing than he usually does.
That's just one theory though.
Good post, no argument here.

Dude it was insane. I havent watched this fight in a long time and when I first saw them.next to.each other i literally lol'd. And what the hell.was margarito's chin made of? He was walking into the same punches that hatton'd hatton and was laughting them off.

Every time I see guys in here post about how Floyd is "the bigger man," blah, blah, etc. I think of this fight. It's like they forgot it even happened. PAC handled a giant at ww, Floyd's size aint ****.
