We have been graced by the presence of the greatest defensive fighter of all time in our generation. Witnessed some epic master classes in the art of boxing, the likes of which has never been see before. The career of Floyd Mayweather Jr will soon be coming to an end with just 2, possibly 3 more fights to go.
But how will Floyd Mayweather finish his career, Who will be the last man to share a ring with the champion?
Pacquiao II - Sep 2015
Coto II - Sep 2015
Brook - Sep 2015
Other - Sep 2015 (Name in Comments)
Khan/Brook - May 2016
GGG - May 2016
Canelo II - May 2016
Garcia - May 2016
Other - May 2016 (Name in Comments)
would you agree that GGG & Canelo are approximately the same size? yeah GGG is about 2.5" taller but their frames are pretty identical, canelo is a bit bigger in the torso actually
I think Floyd could beat GGG, I don't think it's that far fetched actually, there are much wider weight gaps in the HW/Cruiserweight division than this fight would be, and Floyd has the talent to take away some of GGG's strengths
i wouldn't pick Floyd to win but it's a 60/40 fight imo
GGG is too much for Floyd, GGG is much bigger and VERY strong at his weights, he could move up and stop guys, I think asking Floyd to fight GGG is too much. He's still only human after all.
Why would he get sued? I'm sure the contract was for 2 and a half years or 6 fights maximum, I thought when he signed the deal it was stated he didn't have to fight 6 times if he didn't want to, he just wouldn't get paid for the fights he missed.
Or am I wrong?
He can retire any time he wants. He would only get sued if he fought for any other network before his contract was up with Showtime.
I think when he beats Pacquaio in May 2015. There will be no rematch. Floyd could retire then but he would get sued for hundreds of millions by CBS for breach of contract.
I believe he will fight in September 2015 against either Cotto at 155 catchweight for the MW title. Or unify the WW division against Kell Brook.
This is the last fight he in under contract to honor. He says he will retire
However It is possible that he could fight one last time to attempt the new record of 50 - 0. May 2016 he could go for Garcia, Khan Brook or someone else.

One thing is for sure, he's not done after this year. He signed Alex Ariza to a two year deal which keeps him on through the end of 2016.
I also believe that he might be one of the financial backers of PBC. There are a lot of indicators that Floyd is at the helm of this coup to start another boxing league. Watch this interview and pay close attention. He claimed in 2009 that he has big things coming. This claim was made after he went to WWE to learn their business model. Who else has an ego so big that they believe they are bigger than the sport?

I like Floyd, but there is no way he beats GGG in his current state. 5 years ago, maybe, but at 38 years old with signs of visibly slowing down, Floyd won't have the necessary reflexes to keep GGG off him. GGG is slow, but when he hits Floyd's guard, you'll see the difference in strength and power. He'll break it after 3-4 rounds. Too big, too strong (stronger than Canelo), and punches way too hard (more than Canelo). I'd say Pac has a better chance due to him being quicker on his feet with his style, but if Marquez KO's Manny, GGG puts him in the hospital. It's not just about the weight difference, it's also about a huge difference in their physical attributes.
So most of you think Floyd is just going to finish in Sep after a Paquiao rematch?
For some reason I can't see him leaving the game at 49 - 0
I think he caps of the 50 with a win over Brook in May 2016.
I find that VERY hard to believe. There's no way little Floyd wil fight a full-fledged middleweight. If he does take on GGG and beats him then I'll agree with Floyd everytime he says he's the best ever. That would be something else.

I'm like 90% sure his last fight is going to be Khan. His been trying to build it up by throwing in Khan's name every time he's picking opponents. Floyd is a master at promotion. I reckon 1 more win under Khan's belt (preferably Brook) and people will be clamoring for it.
IMO Khan has the best chance out of all 147 lbers, especially with Virgil Hunter in his corner. Virgil studies Floyd like crazy and implements his tricks with Andre Ward. I think he's be suited for the job.
Will be based on how certain things shake out:
-how Mayweather-Pacquiao goes May 2
-what the WBC does about Cotto having their 160 belt (he wins June 6)
-how the believed Brook-Khan fight ends up going in June
-how Danny "Swift" Garcia looks in the Peterson fight
-if Thurman-Maidana happens in June, and how does Thurman look in that fight
Personally, I see Mayweather winning going away (10-2 or 11-1, after the first 3-4 rounds being competitive and Mayweather taking over after that); there'd be no interest in seeing that again.
Once that'd happen, it'd come down to finding the next biggest fight. Ideally, it'd be Mayweather-Alvarez 2 @154 (Canelo's won three straight, against meaningful fighters, his body has had two more years to develop, and it'd draw massive interest again from the Mexican/Mexican Amercan fanbases); Oscar making the move that he did, likely makes that a longshot.
Next, you look at middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto, who fights a stay busy June 6; however, if the WBC forces the Golovkin mandatory (likely compelling him to vacate), the fight loses it's luster; Cotto-Alvarez, likely in October/November, wherever they can generate the most money.
With those options moot, you settle on the best welterweight fight that you can make; Danny Garcia impressing in April, on national TV, throws his name into the mix. Basically down to two other fights then; if Thurman wins, he gets thrown into the mix, and the other slot goes to the winner of Brook-Khan.
Doubt that Floyd fights beyond the end of his Showtime deal, for the simple fact that I don't see anyone putting up the guaranteed money needed to secure him for a fight with no other real megafights to look forward to.
Mayweather-Malignaggi: Pillows & Feathers
Paulie is going to come out of retirment with a statement win over Mayweather conqueror Paul Spadafora. Then he will avenge his loss to Porter with renewed focus. Next he will dispatch of the Khan/Brook winner and line up the fight he was destined for. Mayweather September 2017. He wins and ends Mayweather's undefeated streak and becomes the superstar of the sport and P4P #1. It will be a short lived run though. He rematches Broner and loses. Broner becomes the best and never loses again, winning titles in 10 weight classes and solidifying himself as the best ever with a win at heavyweight against Deontay Wilder (who cleaned house and dominated during Broner's ascent through every weight class).
If he convincingly beats Pac there's a strong chance he retires. I he loses there's a trilogy.
