Haymon cronies..he may of lost regardless of a fix but he was definitely paid off on that night. John Molina showed none of his natural attributes
Should we be as excited about this whole NBC thing as advertised? Or will it be the same sleazy back door entity we're all so used to with a mask?
It was a dreadful night of boxing.
For those who thought the Thurmond vs Guererro fight was good, you are
being way too kind. It was very ordinary to say the least.
Today is the anniversary of the FOTC!
Thurman vs. Guerrero was a good fight. I don't see why anybody would think it wasn't.
Molina etc

Seriously, did people think Molina was Maidana?
I mean honestly I thought he would be somewhat attacking because activity has shown to beat Broner, so it's just common sense. However my ultimate prediction was the Molina would seriously disappoint, and I was right.
Even then Im extremely disappointing knowing full well that would happen.
I didn't think fight would stink up the joint like it did, but I did predict Broner would win in a wide UD. Molina is what he is, not sure why so many people expected any different
You must've never seen Molina fight before. This is just how he fights. Little to no output for the most part of the fight. He really only looks for that one shot to put his opponent away

Most people here have seen Molina fight or at the very least have seen the Bey and Mathysse fights. There is no comparison that can be made. If you're not going to throw against broner why even take the fight.
He can and has been outworked what was Molina thinking ?
Molina was thinking that he'd do what he always does. Throw 5 punches a round and hope to catch Broner with one and hurt him

Really, it's performances like this that frustrates me. I wasn't sure Molina would win but I figured he'd at least make it tough for Broner. Seeing him just stand there right in front of Broner and not do anything almost had me yelling at the screen.
When he fought Matthysse and Mickey Bay, he was determined to win. He wasn't afraid to take Lucas's shots so I don't see why he would be "terrified" of Broner (who has no KOs at light welterweight). In fact, I say John blew this fight more than Broner won it. He wasn't even doing what his corner was telling him. I can only imagine how Joe Goossen felt watching John fight the way he did.
I don't know if he took a dive or not but he clearly held back for some reason. It wasn't just all Broner's performance like some people think. There's definitely more to it than that.

I thought the exact same thing watching the fight. I definitely think the fix was in. Molina was terrible, and if he can soak up the best Mattysse has to offer and still come forward and throw you can bet your ass he can handle Broner. But I also think The Ghost took a dive too. Sure, he made Thurman open up at times, but between rounds 3-10 he did absolutely nothing. He fought off the back foot almost the entire fight, his punches were wild and swinging and telegraphed, and the ones that landed seemed to have no snap to them. Guerrero made it more of a fight, but only in small bursts. The rd10 KD was a joke, the replay couldn't even show a clean punch landing, and he almost sat out the count, and after that, when Ghost decided to try and trap him against the ropes and work him, he just kinda tied him up a bit and didn't really unload.
I dunno, I think both were suspicious but Ghost hid it better. He seemed off last night- gunshy, didn't want to exchange, didn't want to walk Thurman down, didn't throw at crucial times, made the same mistakes over and over, plus he seemed to back right off after he gave Thurman the egg head. He just seemed a much less good version of himself.
Stop. Broner's jab alone froze Molina. Up stairs and downstairs. He was frustrated because he was so neutralized. That's why he conjured up those excuses at the end of the fight.
That'd be understandable if Molina came out swinging and Broner started to control the fight after a round or two and Molina simply got discouraged after that... But how do you explain the first two rounds HE DIDNT TRY ... He threw like 10 punches combined. Then in the 3rd he started throwing punches and what do u know he won the round. Did he go back to doing what he did in the 3rd? Nope ... He just stopped.
I'm not one for conspiracy theories but ... That fight was odd.
I don't have a dog in the fight I don't hate broner the way most people do nor am I a Mathysse or Molina fan.
I liked Molina's style of slowly creeping into position, getting within range and then.... just standing there.. LOL! srsly WTF was that?!
lol it was weird af, I thought he was feeling him out in the first round, but he just kept doing it. Utterly useless.
Molina said he would've missed if he had thrown, but fact is you miss 100% of the shots you don't throw.
Broner stood in front of him almost the entire fight yet after the fight, he says that he couldn't get to Broner because he was running all night. Maybe I just thought I saw Molina standing no more than 3 feet from him with his guard open so Broner could punch right through waiting for Broner to tag him 3 times only for him to stand there some more. Clearly a payoff, people saying otherwise got blinders on.
It was almost unbelievable the way Molina fought, people were asking themselves "is this a joke?".. He slowly creeps into position, gets all up in Broner's face.. only to just.. stand there? It's like he was waiting for a decent shot from Broner so he could take a dive, but Broner never landed anything good.. He fvckin failed his exhibition match. God, how ridiculous is that?
nonsense..
molina was the same fighter he always is, a predictable and one dimensional slugger with poor balance. he has always had a limited offense, poor defense and terrible balance. broner did a good job of making him miss entirely, exposing that bad balance and not allowing him to get of in combinations. did a good job of predicting the simple minded attack of molina in general.
watch any molina fight, even the ones where he won looked more or less exactly like this except he pulls something out of his ass at the end. bey and lundy arent the caliber of broner, they got sloppy and molina capitalized. until that point the fights were very similar. matthysse came at him, with the limited boxing ability molina has he had no choice but to just let em' go to hold him off as long as possible. when guys box he mostly follows thema round looking for a big looping right hand and follows up with a left hook every once in a while.
some of you are retards. "duuuuuuuuhh, he fought completely differently than he did against matthysse!"
yeah, no ****. broner is an entirely different fighter than matthysse. molina dealt with skills, defense and movement the same way he always did. soaking up punishment, winging the odd right hand hoping he gets lucky at some point.
Jab or not, quicker or not, Molina's effort was simply pathetic. That's what's so troubling. I refuse to believe Broner's punches are all that kept Molina from throwing more. If he's shot, OK. If he got paid or decided to just take the money, great. But he clearly could have done more regardless of WTF Broner did. Hell, fvckin bum rush the guy w/arms flailing, anything! Dude didn't want it, and it was pathetic.
This and i don't ever wanna see Molina Jr again
So Obvious

Here are some comments from Molina not more than a week ago regarding his thoughts on this fight.

When asked about Broner’s last two fights since the Maidana loss, Molina says that he certainly saw a few things he could take advantage of. But, perhaps more importantly, he figures that he’ll be able to touch Broner with more than “The Problem” has been touched with in the previous 24 rounds.
“I’m definitely not Emmanuel Taylor or Carlos Molina,” Molina said. “Not to take anything away from them. They don’t have the pop that I have. I don’t think he will be too willing to engage in this fight as he was with them.”

"JM: I'm on a grand platform of 130 million homes worldwide on primetime television, so of course I want to perform my best. I hate to lose at checkers, let alone a fight of this magnitude. We're already a known name now, and we passed a couple of humps, and so a win over Adrien Broner would catapult my career into the stratosphere and that's where I want to go. I'm a family man and this is how I provide for my family. Boxing has done nothing but wonders for me financially. I don't ever want that to change. It wasn't always like that.
Now that we're here, I want it to stay like this forever. I don't want this lifestyle to change for my family. That's motivation enough to get me up and ready for this fight, especially being on the platform of NBC primetime television."
"That fight changed my life. I signed with Haymon and we're today fighting on the biggest event in boxing. People ask me what was going through my mind in that last round, I say, I have a mortgage to pay! I have a daughter I want to send to college."
"JM: Al knew exactly what he was doing when he put this fight together. I think it will be a brutal, barn burner. I'm going to hit him every opportunity he gives me. I'm going to bully him and make him know he's in a fight. That's the key to victory. I believe this is classic boxing at its best. I think the world is going to see what they've been missing. There is a villain and a hero and we already know who wears what hat. I'm rightfully the underdog but I have the lottery ticket in my hand right now and I have to go cash it in."
He did the exact opposite of everything he said he wanted to do and was going to do last night. He did let the interviewers know how important "this lifestyle" is to his family though and how he never wants it to change. I know he made 125K for the Soto fight and that last night, he made almost 4 times that amount. Not sure what he made for the Matthysse fight but that kind of money will make people do all kinds of things.
Below are some pics of Molina throwing sharp, accurate punches unlike the super-wide, ultra-slow punches designed to miss that he was throwing last night.

Not sure i buy into this, John Jr. fought completely different to how he fought against Lucas, in the last round he had dropped his guard and was throwing punches like he knew he'd taken Broner's best shots and was still there, the previous 11 rounds he fought scared and shelled up. The Lucas fight clearly took something out of him.
Props to Broner he schooled him, fought a perfect fight.
I don't know if he lost on purpose but the viciousness and will to win he showed in the Matthysse fight were completely missing in this fight. Maybe Lucas ruined Molina because he hardly threw any hard punches. He would not let his hands go and made Broner's job easy.
