A lot of people misunderstood this thread so I will rephrase, I've seen that there is a link between fans with no amateur experience and fans which label fighters boring. Fighters should utilise their own strengths to win a fight whether that's moving a lot (reasonably, no Bey Vasquez) or up in your face like Provodnikov. Point is that fighters shouldnt be labelled borin, if its not your cup of tea dont watch! The sport is called boxing not fightif, the difference between the two is... SKILL, both effective brawling and outboxin people (Malignaggi and Algieri) both require different sklls and fans should show more respect to the fighters. I hope that's cleared things up.
This thread also makes a dumb assumption that the offensive style is a breeze. That's the dumbest sh1t you hear people say here. Moving forward and trying to land punches at the same time is doubly hard, people.
Rigo couldn't do it in the Agbeko fight. He was forced to move forward because the audience was booing. And he still had to wait for Agbeko's punch before throwing his. WTF! He was moving forward and still have to take the benefit of countering! Same thing I saw with Trout in his fight with Lara and Canelo. Man, he was so clumsy moving forward because Lara has taken the role of countering and running, which was also Trout's style. Canelo, otoh, stopped boxing because it was an open scoring and they knew who was ahead. Trout was forced to take the offensive style.
i watched him a lot, being a USC fan...tools are there but im not 100% sold
You're breaking my heart here Mak! Where the hell is uncle Tua!? I need his input!!
There is a strong correlation between "fans" that call fighters boring and a lack of boxing experience. I've noticed that the fans which call fighters boring tend to have never laced a pair before don't know what it feels like commiting to a punch and getting countered and as a result expect every fighter to brawl. Boxing is a tactical game and an art and you should fight to your advantages i.e Malignaggi and Algieri should not start slugging. And all boxing needs to embrace what boxing is (hit and dont get hit) and should stop calling it boring or watch another sport.
First I would like to say I have mad respect for fighters like Paulie and Algieri, their both prime examples of what fighters should be.
But boxing isn't about "Hitting and not getting hit" that's a common phrase use by boxing fans who want pretend they know more than their fellow fan.
The Art of Boxing or The Sweet Science of Bruising is hurting your opponent more than they hurt you. It's the simplest explanation there is. If Fighter A has to take a punch from Fighter B in order to get off a harder shot of his own then so be it, but if you can land a hard punch without getting hit than that's good as well.
Your definition shows no respect to fighters like Marquez, Rios, GGG, Duran, Chavez SR, and so many other great champions.
Interesting hypothesis, where is your data to back it up.
I have collecting data that supports my hypothesis that male fans that like boring technical fighters are more feminine and like stuff like poetry and dance.
Ruslan does poetry, now name one person more masculine than Provodnikov?
Your data is off. It's a different fight when you know exactly what you are seeing.

If fighters should fight to their strengths, why should guys who are slower, but have great chins with solid power, try to outbox their opponent by "hit and not get hit"?
Besides, "hit and not get hit" is not what boxing is about. Boxing is about winning, fighting to your strength and making your opponent adjust to your style. I'm not saying their is anything wrong with the hit and not get hit approach, I'm saying its not the only style that wins, and that has been proven every year that boxing has existed.
Maybe you and all the other crybabies about boxing being hit and not get hit, should go watch fencing. We're trying to watch a fight here.
If a fighter is a good brawler then go ahead, I never asked anyone to brawl and I myself am a technical fighter who can brawl but the point is you shouldn't call a fighter boring. Go watch mma if you dont want to watch art.
This has been adressed 100 times now.. You don't need to have " laced them up" to know what you are watching.
Listen, fans like what they like. Who are you to tell them they don't, or can't think a fighter is boring? It is their right as a fan. Simple **** really.
I really hope this thread was not in defense of any specific fighter... I am sure it was though.
PS: I have "laced them up", and respect evey aspect of the sport. You do know that purist of "boxing" tend to not like, or respect brawlers... You have noticed that, right? Same thing bruh.
I like every style of fighting, I'd never complain about a good tear up but the point I'm making is don't call fighters boring. Like whatever you want, that's ot nothing to do with me but no need to label fighters boringespecially when they put their lives on the line
Sure, cherry pick your opponent so that he is flat-footed plodder then show how you can run circles around him. So skillful ..... where do I pay for that?

Boxing Fans today are EXTREMELY SENSITIVE! WHO GIVES A FUK if someone think your favorite fighter is Boring, Overrated or a Hypejob.
I think some of us just spend too much time on this forum! The world is not as technical about boxing as some of us on this forum are. They don't care or know about all the extra stuff as far as who is ducking who and who said what about this fighter. REGARDLESS OF STYLE if it is the 2 Very Best fighting each other...THE FANS WILL SHOW UP! Many of the legends in boxing would have been considered boring. I think fighters should take that as a HONOR when they get labeled BORING.
Boring= YOUR JUST TOO GOOD FOR EVERYBODY ELSE, WHY DON'T YOU DUMB THINGS DOWN A BIT SO YOUR OPPONENT CAN HAVE A BETTER CHANCE AT BEATING YOU!
I watch Roy Jones CARRY his opponents for rounds because the man was so gifted that he would just go out and flat out embarrass his opponents and they wouldn't be able to do anything against him and struggled to land a punch because he was so quick
Those fights are impossible to defend and I've never seen someone try.
I was happy vasquez was robbed and I hope bey gets koed again in his 1st defence for making me sit through that at 3am.
I agree with this though, some fights are genuinely unbearable but I think fans should stick to not watching a fighter they dont like rather than calling him boring. Or else other fans go along wit the boring label without even watching i.e Rio
i see the opposite
seems the guys that dont know sht try too hard and act like they loved watching the mastery that rigondeaux put on vs agbeko, or bey vs vasquez etc
