...would be a great under card fight for "the event". Let's face it, the place is gonna be packed with irrelevant celebrities and Ortiz being the massive movie star that he is, will be able to connect with them. Add to that that they have real tension between the two and it's guaranteed fireworks. Plus they can represent for the Mexicans on their holiday. Thoughts? ??
It wouldn't last long. Ortiz might land everything he throws against Rios for as long as he's in there, but we all know Rios is going to soak it up until he catches Ortiz and then the fight's over by stoppage/quittage, which I would expect to happen within five rounds.
There isn't a any real good names available in that time and I feel like the Mexicans should be allowed their warriors for that night. I feel as though we need a "safety net" if you will. A sort of a guarantee of action just in case the main event turns into a typical Floyd dominating boring-esque fight. This is the time to lock in new fans on such a massive stage. Btw, I was being sarcastic about the whole massive movie star thing. I didn't think I would have to explain that.

For the amount of money that would be needed to secure that fight, Ortiz-Rios literally adds nothing to the bill. It's not all that exciting a fight, the nature of the scrap has no real impact locally, and the lack of a cross-promotional effort gives the general audience absolutely no reason to care about the fight. what "massive movie star" are you talking about? lol
Rios-Ortiz becomes the mandatory eliminator for some belt somewhere, Haymon or TR win the bid, you put the fight on at StubHub in Carson, and you watch the atmosphere in the summer dwarf the "Mexican style" push for Golovkin.
I don't think Ortiz would make it out of the first round. He has been on a down hill slide and he can't take a punch. Rios looked very sharp last fight. It's a true grudge match and Rios will go for the kill right away.
Ortiz being knocked out in front of all the famous hollywood celebrities will bring joy to my heart. They will see what a total douchebag he really is. And if it is vs Rios, all his Hollywood Buds will hate him afterwards once they hear what happened between him and Rios. The Hollywood celebs could care less about searching about it, but when they hear a prefight buildup, then that is something they will listen to.
Rios vs Ortiz. MAY 2ND
Make that sh1t happen.
