I think Tom was celebrating with a little of the bubbly, but Michelle asked him about Lara and he said Lara's a good option and people want to see Golovkin vs a mover. It'd be on HBO & Haymon to approve it.
Its a crying shame that no current champs will get in the ring with GGG so he has to scrape the barrel to find names to fight. Then he gets heavily criticised for it. But I prefer to see him in the ring instead of sitting it out waiting for something to come along that might never happen.
Nobody say Ward because he still is looking for at least one tune up fight before a big one, but hopefully with the backing/money from Roc nation it will entice the GGG team enough to move up a division.
I get that GG opponents always end up running, but Lara is a natural runner. I expect a lot of fans tuning in to see all that running finally stopped by GG. Or you could also say GG could end up getting Anguloed. Who knows? Every fight is different.
You need to understand some things that play out in the boxing business. You can draw multitude of fans to see someone lose. This is another case where they want to see the running style get obliterated and hopefully see Lara gone for good.
I'd love to see Lara lose... again. I'm not the only one. I'm also not the only who's not going to pay to see that sh*t. I sure as hell wouldn't go live, a friend of mine got free tickets for Canelo/Lara, he said he overpaid for the tickets. I'm not paying for it on PPV, so unless it's on HBO I could care less if it never happened. Like GGG/Cotto I already know the outcome, brutal beatdown. So I'm not too worried about not seeing it. I want to see competitive fights, at least on paper. If it becomes a beatdown so be it.
**** it. Make the fight. It's a more interesting fight than anyone else that they're trying to get for May. I just don't want to hear complaints that if GGG stops Lara, that he wasn't another JMW Golovkin dragged up.
I tweeted Lara the comment and asked him his response.. His answer was " send the contract"
Let's hope it happens
If this fight happens I will be incredibly stoked. I believe GGG squashes him in 4, but stranger things have happened.
Props to Lara if he does step up though
Lara couldn't draw stickman to fill up his seats and Murray's fans were singing the Martin Murray version of Winter Wonderland. Does Lara even have fans? Forget about the singing part

Lol not many.
Loeffler said they want to bring Golovkin to San Antonio, Lara would be an ideal opponent with him being from Houston and having had his last fight in the Alamodome/Illusions Theater.
Lara is from Houston... That is news to me. They have those pimp ass Cuban accents down there?

I don't see major issues popping up in this fight. Both want the fight. This is a bigger draw than GG's previous fights.

I don't think HBO would do anything to hurt Golovkin's championship status and if he were to lose the bid, they'd let him off for a show... that's my opinion. Can't say the same for Haymon fighters though.
I doubt HBO is worried about GGG losing to anyone except Ward.
Do you think that it would be a possible scenario where Golovkin/Jacobs goes to purse bids, Haymon wins and moves the fight off HBO where Golovkin has an exclusive deal. Because Golovkin can't fight off HBO and Haymon holds the promotional rights to the event to which Golovkin can't comply with, Golovkin is stripped of his WBA title?
