Not talking about his boxing ability, but his religion. In the Barrera fight, he took a few moments to praise Allah. The crowd was quiet. In today's climate, would they have booed him for that?
He'd have to change his antics regarding bringing up his faith when there is no need to. If you're thankful to God, then don't announce it to the public especially given the current political climate.
Other than that I thought Barrera was his first challenge at elite level and he was shown to be not that good. He was matched well and did well, but if he kept fighting Barrera level opposition then it wouldn't have been too pretty for him.
I'm a Christian and Khan is a Muslim and his religion has never been a reason I've wanted to see him knocked out. Mayweather has beaten women and still draws. Worst case scenario in a way I only see his faith helping him draw if promoters wanted to be that shallow, however were talking WWE style there.
He would bring a lot of life to the lower weights. I hate religion and I def don't agree with Islamic views but it's boxing not who I want to become friends with, i'll put that to the side and just watch his fights if his style interests me.
Pretty interesting question.
Maybe naïve on part, but one would hope that even with all the Islamic extremist fuckery that has gone on as of late, one could appreciate Hameds considerable talent inside the ring, and not which prophet he chose to follow outside of it.
his fight with barrera was a few months before 9/11. wonder how people would react to the whole islam thing now, after the attacks
The OP raised a question that focuses on a good point. And the question must be asked ... Should people look at Nassim or any other Muslim differently, just because of a few bad apples (psychopaths) in the barrel?
I honestly believe that no one's opinion should change as a result of what some madmen do. We live in a world where there are psychopaths in every religion and in every walk of life. Should we condemn humanity?
There are some that rightfully should be condemned, and they are those that raise hell on earth constantly, with no regard for human life.
And while the ignorant, under-educated and unaware shout, USA, USA, USA ..... :lol1: They do so, without even knowing a little true history.
Google:
"America Has Been At War 93% of the Time – 222 Out of 239 Years – Since 1776"
Surely, you're going to have some enemies as a consequence of such a history. So, do we blame the victim or the predator?
:soapbox:
Nassim, before and after 9/11, was and is an all-time great!!!:notworthy
his fight with barrera was a few months before 9/11. wonder how people would react to the whole islam thing now, after the attacks
That's what I was getting at. Should have been more clear.

Nah...they'd love it. :dead1:
ISIS may even pump up his PPV numbers!
