With so much hype built up for 5-6 years. Talks of 3 million PPV buys. Do y'all think it will actually exceed, meet or not live up to the projected PPV buys ?
I don't think streams will be a problems personally. I could be completely off but do casuals even have a basic understanding of finding a good stream?Yeah, it seems they do. They go to a buddy who is a more dedicated fan and the buddy sends them a link and then things go wildfire after that. For every 2-3 sites that get taken down, like one from England recently, another 2-3 sites go up, especially overseas. Legally, it would be a nightmare to track them all down and some are passed only through friends who keep things secret.
Now before anyone thinks I am contradicting myself by saying I use one stream, I am not. The reason is, I have a paid Showtime subscription through Xfinity but the problem is, boxing events are not live on Showtime West so I pay 3 bucks for a dedicated HD stream so that I don't have to wait till 11PM to watch Showtime fights.
But I never give out the site because my needs are not illegal, I pay for Showtime and can prove it. At some point I am going back to Direct TV because they show Showtime East and West. Xfinity/Comcast is the worst of any provider. I only keep it because my wife insists on Xfinity so she pays the bill and I used to have Direct TV in the same house but having two providers just to get Showtime East makes no sense.
But now they show Showtime East on Showtime Anywhere but that is on a laptop. But HBO is also delayed for some shows unless you want HBO SD which sucks. Never get Xfinity because there are a lot of unhappy Boxing Comcast subscribers going back to Canelo/Trout who expected that fight live on the West Coast and found out it would be delayed 3 hours.
I don't think they are gonna kill streams. They are all over the world so if one gets taken down, another one takes it place.
The reason why HBO is gonna offer a ala cart option later this year is cuz too many people were streaming or downloading Game of Thrones. If they couldn't stop it for their biggest money maker than they won't stop it for this fight.
And the $100 price tag is too big of a jump. PPV's are already slipping in all sports. Now they wanna add $30 and think its gonna break all time PPV's records? More people are gonna pitch in and buy it at 1 persons house or go to a bar.
Way over 3mil...
If the UK happen to PPV it - does this count towards PPV sales? They'll do 200-400k in the UK alone - just rumours circulating saying SkySports may PPV it.
...Anyway, will fly over 3m - often i post on Facebook about regular feature matches without interest, yet, post May/Pac and i get likes and comments from the fake-y fans who have no clue about boxing - they'd buy it.
Myself, i'll be in a casino/bar or may host the fight.
I also think streams will be killed. 1, because too many people will be trying to access the streams and they will freeze and 2, because the more dedicated steams and known streams will get unfriendly reminders to stop or expect to face action against them. There was a UFC stream site that was taken down last year and faced some serious legal charges. There may be some hired folks infiltrating some streams and stopping them.
If there was ever a time a stream site could get into big trouble, this fight would be it.
Best way to see it is to either get friends to join in on the cost or to pay $18 to see it at a movie theater. I will be in Maui and will either do the PPV and watch it on my Slingbox from the hotel or watch it at an ALE house for $10 cover charge or pay $18 and see it at a theater.
Anyone doing a free stream on this fight is doing something that is not right. Too many options that are not expensive.

Anyone doing a free stream wont ever face charges because they go after the dealers so-to-speak, not the viewers, even for the sites that charge 3 bucks and have login access and HD quality, but anyone streaming on this fight is doing something that is not right. It'll do great. The buzz is through the roof. Cheap seats to go are 3 grand. This is a fight that for 6 years people, not fans, have been hearing needs to happen. This isn't a fight, this is an event. And us true fans need to savor this fight. It's probably going to be decades before we have another fight of this magnitude and historical importance happens.
It won't do 3 million because of 3 reasons
Lack of time to promote the fight
Too many streams
$100 price tag
Lack of time to promote???? it's been getting promoted for 6 years..and trust they will kill the streams on this one\....and $100 aint sh1t

I truly think this fight will disappoint. This fight is too overdue. I don't think as many people as they're expecting will purchase this fight. It's a big dog and pony show.
It will do its numbers EASILY! Even if you're not a boxing fan you will watch because everybody else will be watching. It will look like Super Bowl Sunday with everybody throwing fight Parties or what ever. But over 3 Million shouldn't be a problem AT ALL regardless of what they charge! It was people who don't follow boxing admittedly, tweeting something about that announcement!
Will do between 2.7-3.2 million easily.....BUT I DONT CARE JUST WANT TO SEE A GOOD FIGHT................NOW ENJOY YOUR BAN
:lame: Biggest fight in history, mods should just let people post about if they want to.
I think it will break a record. It's bigger than Canelo-Mayweather and it's bigger than Oscar-Mayweather. It will probably be the biggest money maker in boxing history. I thought it would never happen but I'm glad to be wrong.
For fights like this it actually always exceeds numbers. We think 3, it may be 3.2. It's crazy how the buzz of a mega fight kind of tumbles down into a snow boulder of success.
