He was champion for 3 years then lost to buster Douglas....
he went to prison before he could fight a rematch.
you act as if he had no chance at regaining the belt.
Bhop was at middleweight.
His other only wins at SMW were against Vinnie Paz and Eric Lucas. Hardly comparable to guys who spent their whole careers at SMW with good/great wins.
Klitschko also lost to multiple journeymen in his prime.
I see what you're saying, but he wasn't in his prime as a fighters and knocked off Hall of Famers at the middleweight division. Nobody wanted to fight him at Super Middleweight.
Lmao at all you historians ...
Name 15 lught heavyweights and 6 better super middleweights then roy..
Dont google it. Dont look up a list. Go off the top of your head...
Dare you...
Ward, Froch, Calzaghe, Benn, Eubank, Collins all had better super middleweight careers than Roy Jones. Toney's career there rivals it too.
Would Roy had beaten them as a super middleweight? Yes. But he still only had a handful of fights only against one top opponent.
I'm not going to argue that Roy wasn't a top light heavyweight because he clearly was.
He did beat BHOP for the belt with a broken hand and won like every round against James Toney who was at the time the baddest man on the planet, he took his belt. I actually think Roy would've been best as a super middleweight.

He lost to a journeyman in his prime and was fed bums and an old Holmes during his reign before that. He is overrated.

who hasnt lost too someone they should have beat? floyd, marciano, calzaghe
tyson fought who was available from his era.
you will never see a 19 year old kid dominate grown men ever again.
there were no atg around when tyson became the youngest heavyweight champ ever.
you cant hold that against tyson.
you can only fight who is in your era
An era lasts 3 years?
Look i love Tyson..but exactly who did he fight before he went to jail??? all the ATG's he fought was after jail and he not only lost but lost bad!!!!!!!!!!

Roy Jones accomplished much more in the ring, olympic silver medalist, (robbed of the gold) he started his career at 154 and became the Heavyweight Champion of the World, which has never been done before, he was a 4 division champion, made all his opponents look easy (before he fought Traver), he was 24-0 in title fights before he fought Tarver, he beat the 2 other best fighters of his era in James Toney and Bernard Hopkins and made them look like amateurs.
Tyson made waay more money and was a much bigger superstar although he didn't rap or play basketball like Jones, but as far as accomplishments in boxing, Jones definetly accomplished more!
Roy was undefeated for 15 years and p4p number 1.
he is regarded as the best fighter of his era..
154 to 205 =51 pounds of division between
Duran
leonard
whitaker
roy
floyd/pac
??????tbd
Roy didnt lose till his pride helped him lose 30 pounds of muscle to fight tarver at 175 draimed as ****. He destroyed his body and sapped water from his brain leading to less punch resistance....
name 1 lt heavyweight that did the above.name one super middleweight that did that.
Crickets

Tyson only lost once in his prime. and he went too prison before he could get a chance too avenge it.
post prison Tyson isn't the same fighter as pre prison Tyson
you know that.
He lost to a journeyman in his prime and was fed bums and an old Holmes during his reign before that. He is overrated.
Really? I don't think so.

That's retarded. What if one day there will be 20 Heavyweight Titles? Than some featherweight can eventually move up and 'capture' a HW Title against a bum.
Ruiz was a decent fighter but he was no champion. Lennox Lewis was the only champion that counted. Roy is the only middleweight to get a victory against a ranked Heavyweight. Not a 'champion HW'.
I give Roy full credit though for beating a top 15 HW of that era.
I got Ruiz somewhere at 15 among the 90's guys.
By that same token, Tyson is not the youngest heavyweight champion ever?
